Impersonated attorney, law enforcement, or government official
Complaint: Around XX/XX/2019, I began receiving a large amount of calls from numbers I did not recognize or that my phone classified as spam. On XX/XX/2019, my older sister forwarded a voicemail she received stating that an unidentified organization was trying to reach me regarding a complaint that had been forwarded to their office. They advised me to call the " law firm '' handling the complaint ( XXXX ) and reference a file number ( XXXX ). I called the number of the purported law firm and asked for identification and more information regarding this complaint. The person I spoke to cut me off and asked for my file number and put me on hold as soon as I provided it. She then came back on the line and started explaining to me that the call had come from a process server who was trying to make sure I would be home so I could be served with a complaint. I am a XXXX XXXXl and have extensive experience in initiating lawsuits and I know that process servers do not generally call defendants to effect service. I had also looked myself up in my state 's court filing system and there are no civil cases that have been filed against me. I advised the woman I was speaking with that I can not be served unless a summons and complaint have been filed and she admitted that nothing had been filed yet. I then asked who was allegedly suing me and she became very rude and said " You had an overdrawn Wells Fargo account -- do you remember that? '' I replied that I did remember overdrawing a Wells Fargo checking account over ten years ago and that any claims were therefore outside the statute of limitations. She became argumentative and refused to give me any further information regarding the claim. She eventually yelled at me to " look up bad check law, '' told me I was going to be served, and hung up on me. I called the XXXX number back and asked for the name of the company and whether they were a law firm. The person who answered this time advised that they are not a law firm and their organization name is XXXX XXXX. This person looked up my file number and advised that there was a notation that everything had been " dismissed. '' He apologized for the person I had spoken to previously and was much easier to deal with. He confirmed that nothing had been filed against me and that they were probably calling to confirm an adress to send out a notice via certified mail. I again confirmed that they were not a law firm and that I would like notice of whatever claims they have sent to me in writing. I thanked him and told him I will look for correspondence from them in the mail.

Closing on a mortgage

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: This complaint is in addition to CFPB case XXXX, an open case. As stated this occurred in 2007 as a refinance through Wachovia Bank that was bought out by Wells Fargo as Wachovia had financial trouble. Wells Fargo continues to state I did not disclose the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX HELOC and that I signed an application that did not have the HELOC listed. The Wachovia agent said it wasn't listed because there was no balance and only accounts that had balances can be listed on the written application and the Wachovia agent was notified that this account was a HELOC. It is up to the underwriters of banks to establish or catch mistakes made by their agents, not the customer as customer pays a credit report fee ( {$340.00} if I recall ) to establish the current accounts where this HELOC would have been listed and was in addition to the disclosure made and while it had a XXXX balance, Wachovia never entered it on the written application that I signed and was their explanation why it wasn't there. What is evident and by evidence of other bankers was Wachovia, being in financial trouble, gave notice to their employees to close as many of these mortgage refinances as they could get in 2007, much like Well 's Fargo directives to employees to create fake accounts that caused major mistakes in the banking industry and now Wells Fargo who purchased Wachovia Bank doesn't want to take responsibility for their mistake and incompetence in loan origination and underwriting responsibility ... which is their responsibility, not the consumer. These complaints were filed through the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, a NA bank regulator and not the CFPB which is interesting why this ended up here as the actions taken by Wells Fargo is in fact a criminal matter.

Fees or interest

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Problem with fees
Complaint: Wells Fargo was charging me a fee for " interest fee on cash advances '' on my credit card. I had never withdrawn or transferred cash from that account. The charges were incurred monthly, and were in the 30 dollar/ month range. When I complained, they said that an " overdraft protection advance '' was considered a cash advance and that I was being charged interest on that at 26.24 %. If the interest is 33. per month, at that percentage, that would mean I'd have approximately 1500 dollars in overdraft protection advances, which I certainly do not. Now, since I am overdrawn, they apply another fee every month, on top of my regular interest, and I fall deeper and deeper into debt.

Incorrect information on your report

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Account status incorrect
Complaint: My secured credit card with Wells Fargo account number XXXX, is definitely reporting wrong after months and months of trying to get this rectified. ON XXXX they are reporting me as being 30 days late in XX/XX/2018 and XX/XX/2018, as well as being 60 days late in XX/XX/2018 and 90 days late on XX/XX/2018. But then on XXXX and XXXX, they are reporting me 30 days late inXX/XX/XXXX 60 days late in XX/XX/2018 and 90 days late in XX/XX/2018. XXXX even shows 30 days late in XX/XX/2018. But if you look at the screenshot of my credit report, they all say dispute resolved, customer disagrees but they didn't change anything. Which means that a real investigation never took place.

Managing an account

Checking or savings account: Savings account

Banking errors
Complaint: This is about Wells Fargo Bank. I opened a New Saving account and the first interest paid is NOT correct. I contacted the bank over 5 times and spent OVER 6 hours starting with regular support then sent to the Executive Office to correct this problem and credit me the additional interest. Not one person knows how to calculate interest manually or actually say how many days interest I was owed. I am an XXXX-XXXX and was the head of different departments so I know how to calculate interest on accounts ( DRF ). Time after time I tried to explain the process but no one, not even the Executive Office, would listen. They wouldn't even let me know what they was entering into their computer to even check the calculations. They kept putting me on hold and supposedly asking someone else for help. They even put me on hold and NEVER came back to the phone even though I asked them to call me back of we got disconnected. I always asked if my call was being recorded because I wanted a record of ALL of my calls. The always said yes. One Executive Office person even said interest does NOT start earning until the next day. Now that is DEFINITELY WRONG. The last person I talked to in the Executive Office said I was NOT getting the additional interest because they paid me the correct amount. I asked her how they calculated it and she would NOT explain it to me because she didn't even know how since it was all computerized. I even XXXX and did XXXX XXXX of new products when I was a XXXX to be sure EVER aspect was correct. Wells Fargo has to be doing this to EVER NEW account with new money and that has to be MILLIONS of dollars in interest NOT being paid to new customer depositing NEW MONEY and maybe existing funds. My few dollars is owed to me but my concerns is that thousands of customer are, I am sure, being shorted interest.

Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Account status incorrect
Complaint: Wells Fargo began to show a debt on my credit report as failed to pay in XXXX of XXXX which was discharged in a bankruptcy in XXXX. Once this was reported as failed to pay from XXXX to XXXX on my credit report my credit score dropped 24 points immediately. I contacted Wells Fargo and after speaking to several representatives and being disconnected having to repeat the process several times I was finally connected to someone in the " bankruptcy department ''. This woman took several minutes to look up the bankruptcy in court documents based on the case number I provided her and found the debt discharged in the bankruptcy. She then referenced an unrelated dismissed bankruptcy which made no mention of Wells Fargo or any debt which was dismissed in XXXX and stated that the debt was placed back on the credit report because of this. Wells Fargo is refusing to follow the law as it pertains to bankruptcy, they are refusing to contact the credit reporting companies to have the problem corrected in a timely. I need Wells Fargo to call the correction in to the credit reporting companies so that it can be applied to the credit reports within 24 hours.

Applying for a mortgage or refinancing an existing mortgage

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: My parents and I attempted to REFI my home with Wells Fargo to do a couple of things. We needed to pay off an existing HELOC on the property which is in my grandfathers name and to pay off some credit card and auto loan debt. Things were going fine from what we could tell. Then our mortgage processor contacted us requiring closure of all credit cards and confirmation of such. My parents closed all of their accounts as requested before I could stop them. Only AFTER the cards were closed did the processor contact them and say not to do it. Then Wells Fargo proceeded to back out of the loan. This has caused significant financial hardship for my parents. When we contacted Wells, they did an internal investigation and concluded that they did nothing wrong. But their actions have negatively affected my parents financial situation as well as their FICO scores. They are now refusing to work with us on resolving this issue

Fraud or scam

Money transfer, virtual currency, or money service: Domestic (US) money transfer

Complaint: I made a money transfer using the app XXXX through my bank which is Wells Fargo. I was purchasing a XXXX puppy from XXXX XXXX supposedly in XXXX Texas. The money was received by the so called breeder but I never received the puppy. I then got an email from the company that was supposed to be the courier that would be delivering my puppy saying I had to pay them XXXX for an electronic thermal crate because the crate the breeder used was not safe. XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX is the name of that company. I sent them numerous emails because I started to feel like I was being scammed. They told me I would have to send the funds by debit card only by XXXX XXXX and the fee would be returned to me when my puppy reached my door. I knew then something was up. They told me that my puppy was being held at their facility until they received my XXXX for their crate. I refused to send the money and they said my puppy would be held there until they got the money so they were in on the scam as well. I simply feel that my bank should not support a company like XXXX when they know what XXXX 's policies are and if something happens the customer doesn't have any recourse through XXXX or even my own bank. I have been a customer with Wells Fargo for over 20 years and for them to treat me this way is just horrible in my opinion. I called them the minute I realized I had been scammed and they said there was nothing they could do for me and that I was just out the {$550.00} I paid for a puppy I never received. They said that using XXXX is like just sending cash but that can not be true because it still has to go through the bank. I just feel the bank let me down and they should not allow XXXX to be a part of their business practices.
