Complaint: I have a loan with Sallie Mae and I went XXXX XXXX, wisconsin. I have a high payment and was hoping to lower or defer my payment due to going on maternity leave because I will have no income during that time. Sallie Mae was no help to me they want me to pay to defer the loan even while it will still be gaining interest and they do not even offer a loan extension to help lower payments. So altogether I can not temporarily stop payments or try to lower my payments in any way.

Complaint: I requested a copy of my credit report and found a court judgement from SLM Private Credit. I do n't know what this debt is for, and the judgement was placed in XXXX Court in XXXX which does n't make sense since I have lived in XXXX for the last XXXX years. I sent several debt validation letters to both Sallie Mae and XXXX to try to figure out what this is and if it was one of my school loans being serviced by both companies and I have yet to receive a response. I 've tried to obtain these records for about four months now and I need help because it is effecting my ability to get a job.

Complaint: I went to the best school i could get into, which was admittedly not cheap. While applying for student aid, I was redirected from the XXXX website to SallieMae. I took out almost {$79000.00} in loans, thinking that they were federal and thus eligible for income-based repayment. I was misled by SallieMae, who told me that I would have these options, even though they are not available for my loan type. I 'm now at a point where just over half of my monthly take-home pay is going to student loans, even though I was lucky and was able to get a good job that pays decently well. I 've been told multiple times that I have no other option to lower my payments through SallieMae, and am at risk of default because I ca n't lower my payment. If any unexpected expense pops up in my life, I will have no choice but to default.

Complaint: I attended XXXX XXXX University to further my education after High School. I was a first time generation college student in my family and I was unable to afford my college education without student loans. I looked into Sallie Mae and they assured me they would work with me once I was graduated. Instead of explaining that it is better to take our yearly loans, they told me semester loans would be the best. After XXXX college, I had XXXX separate loans at Sallie Mae at 9 % interest a piece. I sent in XXXX monthly payments of {$25.00} for XXXX loans to lower my interest rate during college. However, for XXXX years, my mother and I were harrassed by the company for " not paying the payments on time '' even though my mom sent checks every month. My mother works at our bank and has copies of all checks sent to Sallie Mae with the dates written and when they were cashed by Sallie Mae. In XXXX of 2015, XXXX sent back only ONE of my XXXX payments and said I did not have any loans with them. How XXXX check of XXXX, that were mailed in the same envelope, got returned I will never understand. I have been charged a late fee for that, even though our XXXX checks had been cashed. Then, I came to realize that for the XXXX years we were being harrassed. My loan payments were being applied to all the wrong loans after months of promises that it was fixed for good this time. Because of Sallie Mae wrongly applying my loans, I was the one pentalized with a late fee. I have called for help on my payments and they are not helping me at all. They said my XXXX payments could equal up to {$1300.00} a month and I am currently earning {$1100.00} a month. Sallie Mae harrassed my mother and I at our work places, even after those numbers were put on a " NO CALL LIST '' and we almost lost our jobs as a result.

Complaint: Hello, I am the co-signer of a Sallie-Mae private loan. This loan is more than XXXX paid off and in good -standing. Sallie Mae is harassing both my daughter and myself by calling us non-stop multiple months in a row stating payments have not been made. Payments have been made ; however Sallie Mae does not process them in -time or properly. From my end, payments have been withdrawn from my bank account and then not applied for XXXX weeks to the account. This month, I made a payment with Sallie Mae 's own internal payment system and received a confirmation number. This was on XXXX XXXX. Payment was processed on XXXX XXXX. I called on XXXX XXXX to speak with a customer service rep to re-confirm this was what was showing on their computer screens. I was told yes this is correct and that payment was applied. Harassing phone calls continued throughout the holiday weekend. XXXX XXXX another harassing phone call arrived in the afternoon. When I returned the call, the service representative answered the phone and stated I had an overdue balance and asked me how I was going to " take care of the balance due today ''. I informed this representative payment was processed and already paid. She went on to ask if I had the correct address. I informed her that yes I do ; however, this payment went through Sallie Mae 's own internal payment system over the phone. When she indeed checked, she confirmed that the payment was processed and that the account was current. I requested the harassing collection calls to stop and she verified that they would indeed stop as of that phone call the afternoon of XXXX XXXX. My daughter and I both received another call XXXX on XXXX XXXX. I have since blocked the Sallie Mae number on my phone and have advised my daughter to do the same. I informed the service representative that I had investigated the bill pay software on my computer. When prompted for address changes/updates, the program states " Sallie Mae will contact us with address changes ''. I have correct address for bill payments, but since the program does not allow me to manually put them into a payer with established contacts such as Sallie Mae, I have decided to mail future payments. The representative told me not to mail the payments because they have a slow time processing the mail. I do not have any problems or difficulties with any other loans or any other bills I pay. I would respectfully request Sallie Mae to stop harassing both my daughter and myself with phone calls when payment has already been sent. I further request all late fees from this year be removed from this loan. I would also like an apology from someone for all of these harassing phone calls and loss of time from my day. Complaint: I am a recent graduate from XXXX University in XXXX and I have been trying to stay on top of paying my students loans to maintain and grow my credit. Sallie Mae, their headquarters is located in XXXX, has continuously taken advantage of me because I am a XXXX recent graduate. In the beginning they were not clear about payments fluctuate due to interest rates after graduation. Then their website was not clear about when payments were due. Now they are claiming that I have not made any payments and that I owe over a thousand dollars for XXXX loan, when my cosigner and I have been making consistent monthly payments. The payments are evident on our bank statements as well. This has been going on for far too long. I 've called and have spoken to a number of individuals that work for the institution. They can not take advantage of be because I do not possess economic capital. Additionally, my interests rates are criminal. I took out XXXX loans, XXXX has a 9 % interest rate, the other 8.5 %, and the last one has a 8 % interest rate. Not only did they refuse to consolidate the XXXX they are not clear about how much and when payments are due. My cosigner and I pay and call every single month because there is always a problem with information and how much money is owed. Last time there was a bunch of money left over from early payments on a loan and that was not conveyed at all until I continuously called. I am a recent graduate for XXXXsakes that 's trying to do the right thing by paying my loans on time and I am the process of becoming a teacher. Sallie Mae has place a huge financial burden on my family significantly and has impeded my ability to properly invest in myself and my future. Many families use Sallie Mae to help fund their children 's education and to know that this private loan provider will stoop so low and take advantage of recent graduates that are trying to do they best that they can to pay their loans is ridiculous.

Complaint: Sallie Mae makes it difficult to apply my extra payments against the highest interest loan. I have complied with their rule to send instructions with each payment. I send a separate piece of paper with instructions on how I want my payment applied but now they are not following my instructions. Their toll free customer service line puts you into a recording that does not give you the option to speak about billing problems. I only got an alternate contact number by choosing the option to apply for a new loan. The new contact number is only open from XXXX - XXXX. I feel that Sallie Mae is playing games so that people will give up on having extra payments applied to the higher interest loans.

Complaint: Due to unforeseen hardship during XXXX semesters of my XXXX career, the federal financial aid and tuition assistance by my employer was not enough. After being declined by my local bank I resorted to taking out a small ( {$6000.00} ) loan from the private lending company, Sallie Mae. I graduated with my XXXX 's XXXX XX/XX/XXXX and 2 months ago ended up losing my job to due lay-offs. As soon as I lost my job I contacted Sallie Mae to alert them of the situation and began attempting to negotiate a lower monthly payment amount ( from {$300.00} to {$50.00} until I am able to get back on my feet ) .I have sent Sallie Mae a total of XXXX letters via Certified Mail and in response they began calling me an average of XXXX times per day, every hour, starting as early as XXXX. In my XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX letter I explicitly requested that Sallie Mae attempt all further communication via paper letters rather than phone messages however these requests have been ignored and my phone continues to ring off the hook and I am met with at least XXXX harassing messages threatening " something bad will happen '' if I do not call them back. I am not avoiding making my student loan payments and even in this financially difficult time I want to maintain an open line of communication with Sallie Mae, however I feel that their collection attempts have crossed over the line into being harassment.
