Complaint: Sallie Mae, now XXXX, has irreparably damaged my credit and finances. After graduating from college and not being able to find a job for close to a year, they refused to work with me to refinance my loans, despite my various attempts to work out a payment plan with them. Once employed, I resumed my payments, but they were too high as I am only XXXX and an entry level employee. Again I contacted them only to be given the runaround, and when I finally spoke to someone of stature, they told me that the only way to refinance my loans was to default on them, which I did. Once I defaulted, I made another call to Sallie Mae and was able to get my payments down to {$560.00}. Fine. But upon recent inspection on my part, I found out that they 've been taking more than the agreed upon amount totaling to {$640.00}. I 'm now unemployed again, due to health reasons, and am virtually stuck. I have no other money in the bank and am pursuing options in which to sue for at the very least, breach of contract. Additionally, when I first restructured my loans, they proceeded to ding my credit score so that it 's decimated beyond repair because the payments that I was making were " late. '' There 's no way they could have been late because they were scheduled to be taken out of my account on the XXXX of each month as previously agreed upon. If their system is messed up, then why am I being punished for it? They 've also harassed my relatives, none of whose information I gave out when applying my loans, so they must have been mining data to figure out who to call. Every time that I 've tried to call them and straighten this out, I get the runaround and them telling me that my only option is to defer my payments, but to do so I have to pay an additional {$150.00}. What?!? The people they 've hired to run their " business '' are completely unprofessional, incompetent, and inept ; this organization should be run out of business for the plain thievery that they are allowed to inflict on American citizens.

Complaint: I graduated in XXXX of 2016. I earn $ XXXX full time. I have government loans as well as {$85000.00} in Sallie mae private loans. There are XXXX loans total with separate payments. The total of the XXXX loans is roughly XXXX month payment with interest rates as high as 10.5 %. I can not possibly make this payment. My cosigner is my mother and she can not assume this payment because she is taking care of my step father who has XXXX and they have medial bills. Sallie Mae 's only offer is forbearance or interest only which forbearing my loan would not help since my income is what it is right now. I am in a year lease where I work and can not move. Interest only payments would be almost as high as my standard payment. Sallie mae only allows 10 year standard. If it could be drawn out to 20-25 years, it would definitely be doable, and my cosigner could help as well. We have exhausted all refinancing companies, with denials from all. I do not have any credit right now since I just started working, and although my mother has outstanding credit and credit history, she is denied because of her debt ratio ( because of my loans ). I really, really need help extending these loans out to 20 years. I know I have an obligation, but there is no way I could possibly pay XXXX. Sallie Mae will not work with us on this. Not at all. We have even gone so far as to look at bankruptcy or a debt relief program. Please, please, Sallie Mae ... ..I know you want your money, why wo n't you work with us? Extend my loan, you will get your payments. Please help us. I have XXXX in government loans, but they will let me use an income based payment. My mother has XXXX Parent plus loan which she consolidated to lower her payments as well.

Complaint: My daughter has a Sallie Mae federal loan. She is two weeks late in making her payment for XXXX. I have talk to a rep at Sallie Mae explaining why XXXX is late and told them I would let her know that she has two more days until her loan goes into collections. I have communicated this information to my daughter. We are both still getting two to three robo calls per day since the conversation with the Sallie mae Rep. I 'm even getting them at my work number. This is bordering on harassment. When you have been in communication with them why do they need to continue to call excessively?

Complaint: I am late on paying on a {$25.00} payment to sallie mae. They call 8 times a day i asked them to stop calling an to send a paper statement. I have told them that i feel the calling 8 time a day is harassment, the say " the law lets us call that many times ''. I have stated that FTC Public Law 111-203, title X, 124 Stat. 2092 ( 2010 ) sub section 806, ( 5 ) " Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number. '' They refused to fallow the law in regard to collations of a debt. They need to be brought to justice. and fined or jailed

Complaint: I called Sallie Mae to find out more information regarding their Rate Reduction Plan. The representative advised that Sallie Mae will only discuss the rate reduction with borrowers who are delinquent on the account. I do n't understand how borrows who are delinquent get rewarded with lower interest rates, and borrowers who are struggling, but still make payments on time are punished by not having access to a program created to help borrows repay their student loans.

Complaint: My Issue is with Sallie Mae I have XXXX student loans with this lender and XXXX of them have problems. The XXXX XXXX is for an original principal amount of {$16000.00} which was cosigned by my mother and XXXX is a {$3000.00} loan that covered XX/XX/XXXX semester. XX/XX/XXXX I received a Final notice of Default for the loan cosigned by my mother. I then called in to the collection agent who gave me XXXX choices. Garnishment for both me and mom, My Mother could settle the debt outright for about {$11000.00}, or I could pay {$5000.00} down and {$100.00} a month until the Loan Balance was paid down. Since neither I or my parents had those kinds of assets readily available, and since the Representative used in My opinion Illegal Scare tactics and attempted to seek my mother 's retirement assets and assets held in Joint accounts from my father, I decided to consult an attorney. In the presence of my attorney, We called XX/XX/XXXX ( I forgot the exact date ), and we called the collections Agent back. She even had the Gull to ask If I was not liquid, How was it that I could afford an attorney I did not answer, but I opt for legal insurance through my job. My attorney informed the collections Agent that my parents were not liquid and I did not have the access to cash and we negotiated a deal whereby I would pay {$2000.00} down and {$100.00} a month for the life of the loan. In this phone call I specifically asked the Rep if this would apply to XXXX LOANS and she said YES! Well It did not. XX/XX/XXXX, I began receiving Collections calls again.I called in in XX/XX/XXXX ( Or XX/XX/XXXX ) To try and put a stop to it. I Informed them of the deal that was reached and that the rep had said that it applied to XXXX loans. The Manager I spoke to then said that it was Impossible to apply the deal to XXXX loans even after she reviewed the record of the call and that the {$3000.00} loan was still delinquent. I said that she was going back on her word and that I refused to pay because I did not have the resources and because Sallie Mae Gave their word and now they went back on it. I wanted to go back to my attorney to deal with this, but doing so requires taking time off of work I can not afford, as I am out of vacation/sick time for the year. So far I have not responded to them since XX/XX/XXXX and I have a log of XXXX Voicemail from Sallie Mae Collections Agents. The calls begin on XX/XX/XXXX and the last VM I received was at XXXX. they call at all hours of the day and quite frankly this is Harassment. How many Man hours and how much money has Sallie Mae spend trying to collect this Debt? I want them to keep their Original Word that the Settlement reached Would Encompass XXXX Loans. I have paid as agreed so far and kept my end of the deal, but Sallie Mae has not kept their end. I furthermore want Sallie Mae to remove ALL derogatory remarks from my Credit report concerning both these loans. The last thing I want is for an immediate end to all collections calls and letters.

Complaint: I have XXXX loans with SallieMae. Each are enrolled in auto-debit and have been for more than a year. This is confirmed in my account information available online and has been verified during a multiple calls with their customer support. Despite being enrolled in auto-debt, the accounts do not auto-debit and I receive a call from SallieMae that I am delinquent on my account every month. I believe this practice is intentional in an effort gain more interest on my accounts.

Complaint: On XXXX/XXXX/2016, XXXX # XXXX from Sallie Mae assisted me with applying for a lower monthly payment of XXXX, which would be automatically deducted from my account every XXXX of each month for the duration of 24 months. On XXXX/XXXX/2016, XXXX who is the account manager assigned to me had informed me that in order to avoid getting a negative report in my credit, I should apply for a forbearance. Evidently not having enough knowledge with student loans, I agreed to apply for the forbearance. Per XXXX, with a one-time payment of XXXX, my loans will be in current status instead of past due. I received a letter from Sallie Mae dated XXXX/XXXX/2016 that they were not able to process my request at this time and that my loans are not currently enrolled in the forbearance program. On XXXX/XXXX/2016, I spoke with XXXX and informed her about the letter that I had received. Per XXXX, this was a misunderstanding since her supervisor failed to approve the request. Per XXXX, she would ensure that she will submit the request to her supervisor for approval. On XXXX/XXXX/2016, I went online once again to check the status of my loan. Still, it was past due. I called Sallie Mae and spoke with XXXX that same day and was told that it was a mistake on their end and that my request for forbearance would be process at this time. Per XXXX, I should wait XXXX48 hours for the request to be processed. Today XXXX/XXXX/2016, I checked my Sallie Mae account online once again to check if my request had been processed. Yet, I got the same outcome. Loan still says that it is past due. I called Sallie Mae and spoke to a man named XXXX. Per XXXX, my request is currently being processed and should check back again this Friday. To summarize, I have been very dissatisfied with the service I have been receiving with Sallie Mae. I was told that I have been assigned to an account manager to further assist me with managing my account since it is past due. However, I evidently see no changes. All I wanted was to apply for a forbearance to bring my account current. Sallie Mae has been causing me, especially my father ( co-signer ) unnecessary emotional distress.

Complaint: I have XXXX loans from Sallie Mae. Over the course of six months, I enrolled twice in a payment plan. Making only XXXX a month they put me on a plan that would have me making $ XXXX monthly payments. I was denied twice this plan and XXXX XXXX accounts the company did not contact me to let me know. The second time this happened Sallie Mae had my bank account information and began taking out a total of {$740.00} in the form of autopay. Something I had never authorized. This cost me money that was supposed to be in my account to not be there, as well as returned check fees charge by my bank when the sufficient funds were not available, since the amount Sallie Mae was attempting to take out was higher than agreed on.

Complaint: I am continually receiving calls from Sallie Mae student loans. It is a recording asking me to call and set up payment. I have called the number multiple times to explain that I do NOT have any student loans, they were paid off between XXXX and 20 years ago. The cell phone number they are calling in new to me ( 4 months ) and they tell me each time they are removing the number from their records, but I continue to receive calls about every 2 hours from XXXX to about XXXX. Complaint: I had to take out a loan for a college program I was doing, during the program many things were changing. The loan, already priced very high, was super expensive and hard for me to get but I was able to get it approved and continue the program. Then things started changing in the school like everything went to an online school format and that is not what we expected or what we were paying for. So after changing everything, almost all of the students grades started to lower including mine, which lead us to failure. Thats is what happened, they were not teaching well like they were in the beginning of the program and a lot of the students I spoke to failed many tests and the program. I unfortunately failed the program barely passing, I actually passed but they could not understand my situation of help me instead they decide to kick me out of the program and leave me with the debt. This happened at the XXXX college at the XXXX campus.

Complaint: Sallie Mae is engaging in harassment tactics to attempt to collect payment. From having XXXX, I know that it is not legal for companies to engage in such practices. They call me several times PER DAY, and many of the calls are during work hours. This is completely inappropriate. It is also entirely inappropriate for them to call my mother during business hours. As of today, I have written them a letter demanding that they stop immediately. I will file an additional complaint if they do not adhere to my demands. Any of the times I have answered their calls, their agents have been incredibly rude and/or condescending. I will not stand for this kind of treatment.
