Complaint: We applied and were pre-qualified for a mortgage with Santander bank. While in underwriting the underwriter ( XXXX XXXX, Santander Credit underwriter III ) decided that my wifes income from XXXX would not be allowed and demanded an additional 10 % down to issue the mortgage ( taking us to 20 % ) He additionally refused to give credit for my annual bonus due to being with a new company, even though i have over a decade of bonus history. He refused to give even a pro-rated amount for my wifes ' earning potential even though she has 20+ years of earning history. I have over 15 years of bonus history. Due to his exemptions of our income, the calculations put us at a 42 % gross income to mortgage ratio ( 2 % above the threshold for a 10 % down loan, requiring we step up to 20 % down ). This feels purposeful and predatory. While this was going on we expended several thousand $ of inspections fees, appraisal fees and a lease break on our apartment. Sum total {$11000.00} and are now on the hunt to find a new place to live. ( And our credit scores were negatively impacted ). They did not provide a disclaimer that they would refuse to accept my wife income ( due to it being from another state ), nor my bonus when we signed up to work on this mortgage with them.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXXI received two letters from Santander Bank signed by XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX. The one letter was addressed to me only and it stated that they were closing my checking account that I hold jointly with my husband and a savings account that is just in my name. A second letter that was addressed to my XXXX year old son advising him that his savings and checking account were being closed. This letter did not include my name which I am the custodian of both accounts. Both of these letters stated that the accounts were being closed and that I had 30 days to close the accounts or they will close them and send us a check. The letters did not look professional so I contacted the local Santander Branch in XXXX, PA. Upon their request my husband and I responded to the Bank. We spoke with Relationship Banker XXXX XXXX. XXXX related that he also thought the letter looked to be unprofessional and he was reluctant to call the number. After verifying the number was legitimate XXXX contacted the number listed. After hanging up XXXX related that the gentleman refused to give him a reason of why the accounts were closed. XXXX related he would have is branch manager check on it the next day. On XX/XX/XXXX my husband contacted the phone number listed on the letter. My husband was told that Santander was not going to give a reason nor are they required. Just as we have a right to switch banks they can cancel are accounts at any time without giving a reason. I have a business account in my name and a Home Equity Loan with Santander and neither of them are mentioned.

Complaint: I opened a Simply Right checking account under promotion to receive {$150.00} after direct depositing {$1000.00}. I opened the account on XX/XX/2017 and have had {$1000.00} direct deposited every month for the last 5 months. I have called Santander multiple times, usually being transferred from department to department, spending hours at a time without any resolution. I am very frustrated they are not holding to their terms and with the way they are treating their customers.

Complaint: This is in regards to my previous complaint with Santander. I received a letter today from them stating that my claim was denied due to inconsistencies. They conveniently left out what these inconsistencies are. Im not certain they even investigated my claim. Now, the letter I received stated the transactions as taking place on XX/XX/XXXX. In my claim, I stated XX/XX/XXXX, which is what is on their banking website. Maybe this is the transaction date versus the posting date? I dont know. What I do know is the last time I used my card was at XXXX for {$52.00}. Every card transaction after this is fraudulent. Again, these transactions are ... XXXX for {$17.00} posted on XX/XX/XXXX, according to the banking website. Cash Withdrawal for {$800.00} posted on XX/XX/XXXX, according to the banking website. Cash Withdrawal for {$180.00} posted on XX/XX/XXXX, according to the banking website.

Complaint: I paid for the first two quarters of real taxes to my town last XX/XX/XXXX. I informed my mortgage lender Santander Bank about it but the Bank went ahead and paid the taxes for the first quarter of this year. I informed my town about this double payment and it returned the amount paid by the Bank on XX/XX/XXXX. i do not have escrow account and asked the bank to refund the money back to me. till today i.e. XX/XX/XXXX, it did not return my money. This is Bank which charges exorbitant fees towards non-payments n late payments if we happen to do it. I want you to hold this bank also responsible asking them when they did get the money bank and the reason for its non-payment with stiff penalty n ask them to return my money with interest.
