Trouble during payment process

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: This is 2nd complaint against Santander. Been trying since XX/XX/XXXX to fix this mess. They have refused to co-operate with our continued efforts to fix mess they made with our escrow account. Blaming town, me, everyone but themselves. They made tax payments, took $ $ out of our account, then charged us additional $ $ saying taxes were outstanding. They pay the taxes, why are they outstanding? We are being charged extra {$580.00}. Have tried to cancel escrow, they will not do without us paying extra fees, claims it is in our contract and that we got .25 % less of a rate for them doing the escrow. However, our mortgage was done under HARP so that is a lie. They refuse to send me proof or that we signed anything to this effect. Refuse to send me copies of cancelled checks for taxes paid to town. They paid our taxes for XX/XX/XXXX and took XXXX out on XX/XX/XXXX. in XX/XX/XXXX the took out XXXX saying it was outstanding taxes for the above payment when none was due. Was told onXX/XX/XXXXby XXXX XXXX - their XXXX tax dept - that it was an overpayment and that in 24-48 hours we would get $ $ back into account, and ok for us to pay P & I pending reimbursement. $ not back in our account. Sent cert. letter to tell them to stop paying taxes, they ignored and paid our XX/XX/XXXX tax against our wishes. Refuse to reimburse the $ $ they took out. Where is this money???? We paid our XX/XX/XXXX mortgage at bank, principal and interest and XXXX arrears in escrow, pending the reimbursement of {$580.00}. However, now getting collection calls that our mortgage overdue, illegally charging us late fees, and even though our receipt says it is for P & I, they are refusing to credit our account. They are making collection calls and sending letters that we have not paid our mortgage when we have the proof we did, and we are not behind.

Problem using a debit or ATM card
Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXX I made a check out to my city from my checking account with Santander bank. I then went to XXXX to my daughters trustee acct to get the balance of the funds the check was made for. A total of {$360.00} cash. I left XXXX on XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX and headed directly to the Santander ATM on XXXX XXXX. Which is behind the XXXX XXXX entrance of the Santander branch. I drove up to the ATM and started the ATM transaction with my bank card to make the cash deposit of the {$360.00} Went through the steps on the screen, counted out the bills to make sure there were not more than the note on the ATM said it could accept at one time. And put he money into the " slot '' when the door opened to accept the cash. After a few moments the screen came up with the message that the ATM could not perform the requested transaction at that time. It kicked back my card, but did not process a receipt, or push any of the cash deposit of {$360.00} back to me. Since there was no one behind me, I waited for a few moments to see if the screen changed. It did not. So I pulled my car to a parking space, and walked across the street and up the 2 flights of stairs to the main lobby of the branch. I was directed to speak with a CSR. And was nearly in tears since I have written a check of over one thousand dollars earlier that morning, and did not have access to more cash to deposit to cover that amount. And the ATM had taken my deposit with no receipt. I sat and began the claims process and was told i would be provisional credit while they did the research. Original Claim # XXXX I received the provisional credit to my account, and the check I had written was cleared within the next few business days. On or about XX/XX/XXXX I opened my online banking account with Santander Bank to find they had withdrawn the provisional credit of {$360.00} and therefore overdrawn my checking account. I immediately went, again to XXXX to withdraw funds to cover the over drawn amount. This time however I went directly to a teller to make the deposit. XXXX me once, and all that. I made the deposit. Then went to speak with the CSR that I had made the original claim with. She advised me to contact the claims dept, and provided an *incorrect* number. I then spoke with phone rep that told me to wait til I got the form letter, and then reopen the claim. I received the form letter, of the withdrawal of the provisional credit. And called the number to reopen the claim.. and to request any documents they had on the claim. I was told by a claims rep that there were " No Documents '' that I could have. And that their review of my claim had shown that I had not been at that ATM - location number XXXX on that day to make a cash deposit of any amount. However she did reopen the claim. New claim # XXXX Opened on Friday, XX/XX/XXXX While I dont find it odd that they no longer have a video/picture record of my being there, since it was over a month ago that I attempted to make the initial deposit of the {$360.00} cash. I do find it odd, disturbing and perhaps even illegal. That they have no electronic record of my ATM bank card being inserted into the machine. With my pin having been entered. And the transaction for a CASH DEPOSIT having been started. Also that the ATM was not " over '' by the {$360.00} when the ATM was cleared/ serviced. Unless of course the ATM came back on line later that morning and some lucky person got an additional {$360.00} However. I am on a limited income. Being on XXXX. {$360.00} is not small change for myself or my family. I have been a customer of Santander Bank for at least 15 years. And feel that I am being disrespected and called a liar. Which I am not. I worked for XXXX XXXX XXXX, and also the short run of time XXXX. I know how people would attempt fraud on accounts. And the consequences. And I am not that person. I accept when I am wrong. But I am not in this case. I would like help in getting Santander Bank to give me back my initial deposit of the {$360.00} cash. That way I can *hopefully* easily close this account. And move my business to XXXX in full. As I currently do not have a copy of the receipt from the XXXX cash withdrawal, I can not attach that. Silly me I dont usually keep my bank receipts. Taught me a lesson. But I can get a copy of the withdrawal on Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX and provide that Thank you

Closing an account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Can't close your account
Complaint: A ) Around XX/XX/XXXX, I opened a Santander checking account # XXXX in response to a Santander Bank promotion that if a customer opens a checking account, sets up a direct deposit and makes two bill payments ; the bank pays the customer {$20.00} each month. I complied with the requirements set forth by the bank until they ended their promotional offer in XX/XX/XXXX. B ) On or before XX/XX/XXXX I did two things : 1 ) requested Santander by email to close my checking account, and 2 ) since they could not close the account with an email I called their toll free line XXXX to request that my checking account be closed. C ) On my end, I cancelled my direct deposit, paid off any outstanding balances if I owed any ; and considered my checking accounts closed. I also knew that if the account was still open, I would have seen bank charges for non-activity. When I stopped receiving monthly statements and all bank communications it was a clear indication that my Santander account was closed. D ) From XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX, Santander led me to believe that my accounts were closed. Up until a week and a half ago I started receiving harassing robo calls and letters from Santander collecting {$170.00} in fees. I asked myself why am I getting these fees now if the account was supposedly closed in XX/XX/XXXX? E ) After investigating the matter, I found out that my other bank had incorrectly requested a wire from Santander and since there was no funds on it, the initial {$35.00} non sufficient fee snowballed into {$170.00}. I would gladly pay the amount if I erred on my end, but since Santander did not do what I had requested two years ago why am I responsible for these fees? F ) Santander knowingly kept the account open to extort fees. How many of their customers have requested their accounts closed but kept the accounts open so Santander bank can charge these fees? G ) The harassment that I have been receiving daily from Santander Bank 's collection practices such as robo calls, letters and postcards to remind me I owe Santander {$170.00} and the fees are just accumulating. H ) I tried to contact Santander but they make it difficult for the consumer to communicate with a medium like an email that provides an audit trail of the discussion.

Cashing a check
Complaint: Cashing a check I submit power of attorney and certification of endorsement as requested by the bank. The manager of the bank kept telling me everything was fine. After several trips to the bank over a two months period the bank told me they will return the check to me. The check is issued by Santander and I am trying to cash or deposit the check in a Santander account. I have been dealing with the branch on XXXX XXXX in XXXX NJ. Check amount is XXXX. I explained to them they are causing hardship to my family by refusing to cash their own check. They never explained their action. A branch manager simply said that was their final resolution. Once I receive the check, I will be in possession of a check that is as good as piece of toilet paper. That was hard earned money that was deposited in Santander bank. Please advise

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I paid my Santander mortgage account # XXXX by going to my local XXXX XXXX. This is how we always pay the mortgage to Santander Bank. The account # XXXX with Chase is the account I have always used to electronically pay the mortgage. The reference number Chase gave for this payment is XXXX and the amount was {$2700.00} paid. Since Santander Bank changed my mortgage payment by {$58.00} due to an increase in taxes, my new mortgage payment was increased to {$2800.00}. Santander Bank snet me a letter late XX/XX/XXXX that they have not received my mortgage payment for XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX, I went to XXXX XXXX and made an electronic payment to Santander in the amount of {$2800.00}. Confirmation number for this transaction was XXXX. During the course of a current refinance, on XX/XX/XXXX, I was informed by the loan officer, XXXX XXXX XXXX NMLS # XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that Santander Bank is reporting my mortgage late for the month of XX/XX/XXXX ( 30 days ). After speaking with a representative by calling XXXX at XXXX XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX from Santander Bank named XXXX I was transferred over to a Supervisor. The supervisor refused to give a name of ID number and after 30 seconds the call was disconnected. At XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, I called Santander Bank again at the same number, spoke to a woman named XXXX who said there is nothing that can be done so I asked for a Supervisor. After 15 minutes on hold I was connected to XXXX. XXXX told me after hearing my information that the {$2700.00} was held in unapplied funds account which is where mortgage payments sit until payment is made in full. I asked if this is an interest bearing account because if Santander Bank did this to numerous customers they can make a lot of money on client 's money that is " unapplied ''. They reported my account to the credit bureaus as 30 days late for XX/XX/XXXX. This is false, the mortgage was paid using the normal means ( XXXX online payment ) and my normal amount {$2700.00}. As soon as I knew the account was short I immediately paid the account for {$2800.00} on XX/XX/XXXX using reference # XXXX. I am being incorrectly reported to credit by Santander bank as not making a XX/XX/XXXX mortgage payment on time when in fact, I made two mortgage payment in XX/XX/XXXX. As of XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX, I am still on the phone with Santander Bank supervisor XXXX and have been on hold for 38 minutes waiting for a Supervisor on a higher level. Without Santander Bank removing the late payment to the credit bureaus I am going to suffer from a credit score decrease and more importantly, the refinance I have been doing will be dead along with the {$670.00} I will lose for the appraisal. Santander Bank needs to correct the reporting to the credit bureaus immediately so I can continue my refinance. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX NY XXXX email : XXXX cell : XXXX
