Complaint: A few months I sent a letter to portfolio recovery stating I could pay my debt of {$270.00} for a lower amount of {$100.00}. The rep from Portfolio informed me yes I could pay the debt for lessons it would be reported as such and they would also require debt be deleted from my credit file with all 3 major bureaus. I sent a check and a copy of the email that I received from portfolio which stated as such. They sent me a letter back k stating there are restrictions on the letter they did not agree with. I also looked on the website which they stated they would delete trade lines from credit reports for payment that may be less than in full. I sent them a personal check stating to pay off my debt and they sent the letter back. Why would such a company state they would take payment for less and a rep stated they would take less and on the website states the same thing. What kind of company does not follow what they post

Complaint: portfolio recovery continues to call my work phone at XXXX for an invalid debt & was told to stop. they also contact my home phone @ XXXX after being told repeatedly to stop. Under the fair debt collection act I do not want any further calls at either number. they also continue to use phone dialing voip systyms to contact me multiple times a day after being told to stop. they have also reported this adverse information which is untrue to credit agency 's. further abuse & further contact will result in filing a federal lawsuit. every call is now being recorded & entered into court documents.

Complaint: Today received a call from an unknown number XXXX and I didn't answer it because of these robo scams that are out there ... they didn't leave a message, so I did a reverse look up on the number and it was Portfolio Debt collection. I have already sent them a cease and desist letter stating that they can no longer call me and that they definitely can't call me at work during work hours, which they just did. I filed a a complain a few years ago on this site and I thought things would stop, they did for a while. Now they keep calling me. The debt they claim to have is no where to be found on my credit report, so this needs to STOP!

Complaint: I have two bills I have been paying on through portfolio recovery. I spoke with a rep a few months ago and told her I didn't want to receive any notices through mail and wanted email only. She said ok, and all correspondence would be sent through email. I continued to receive mail. I spoke with someone else who wanted to know why I didn't want mail. Through online chat, I spoke with someone who was quite rude and said they had to mail me correspondence per law. However, according to their own website, I can opt in to get electronic correspondence. I have contacted them multiple times stating I wanted electronic correspondence. They never responded to my emails and I am still getting mail after explicitly telling them I did not want mail. This has caused me severe mental stress, as everytime the notice is received via mail, my spouse is reminded of my short comings and causes strife in our house.

Complaint: Portfolio Recovery continues to call me at home, work, and on my cell. They are calling about 25 times a day from random numbers. The company is already in trouble for their collection practices. I would like to join the lawsuit against them. I have sent certified letters on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX to Portfolio Recovery asking them to provide me with data to prove that this is my account. I have asked them to provide the following : Competent evidence bearing my signature, showing that I have ( or ever had ) some contractual obligation to pay you. Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe. Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay you what you say I owe. Identify the original creditor with name and address. Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account. The only proof they have sent are credit card statements from years ago. Portfolio Recovery bears the Burden Of Proof and the information they continue to send me does not provide evidence of the claims they have made against me. This is not my account, please delete this account. Thank You

Complaint: After viewing a copy of my credit report, I noticed a collection account placed on my credit report from PORTFOLIO RECOVERY in XX/XX/2018 in the amount of {$470.00}. First and foremost, I have confirmed that the debt collector, PORTFOLIO RECOVERY is not licensed in the state of Texas to collect on this debt. Secondly, PORTFOLIO RECOVERY violated FDCPA rules and regulations when they failed to send me a written debt validation notice including the amount of the debt, name of the creditor, and notice of the consumers right to dispute the debt within 30 days ( see 15 U.S.C. 1692g ( a ) ). Third, what obligation do I have at all to PORTFOLIO RECOVERY? I have never heard of them, have no written contract with them and have never received any benefits from them, yet PORTFOLIO RECOVERY has submitted negative information to all three credit reporting agencies ( XXXX, XXXX and XXXX ) against my name and social security number and is demanding payment from me in the amount of {$470.00}.
