Complaint: It is my understanding that CFPB has taken action against PORTFOLIO RECOVERY for fraudulent collection behavior. I am a victim of such behavior and the credit bureaus will not investigate on my behalf. Portfolio Recovery has a fraudulent collection account on my credit report in the amount of {$670.00}. They report this as a delinquent derogatory account on my credit report every month and this is a fraudulent account. They continue to update as a negative account every month against me. I have filed several disputes with the credit bureaus multiple times and they have not taken any action to help me. This is a fraudulent account that I do not owe and that is not mine. They haven't proved or provided any agreements or contracts signed by me. They just ignore my disputes and keep on ruining my credit profile every month. The credit bureaus need to remove this account immediately.

Complaint: Portfolio Recovery called my house several times and did not present themselves as a debt collector and threatened a lawsuit. The last time they called they stated a suit against me had been filed. A week later here was a piece of paper on my door stating I was being served and needed to call the process server. 2 days later he showed up at my door and told my husband he can only talk to me. The next day there was another note on my door with my full name and date of birth. The next night I was home and he rang the bell at XXXX XXXX. Told me that he would come back every night until I took this document, they claimed was a law suit filed in my county. I did not sign for the document but took it and it is a false document. The court they referred to is not in my county. I checked court records and my name was not listed under the " case number ''. This started happening on XX/XX/XXXX. I received the documents on XX/XX/XXXX. The cover of the so called law suit is a collection notice from Portfolio Recovery for the amount of {$1500.00}. I have never signed anything with that company, they assumed a debt that was from another company.

Complaint: I did not see a option for my complaint. There should be one for re aging old depts. Thats what portfolio recovery is illegally doing to me. My original dept with XXXX XXXX is well over 7 years but portfolio illegally re aged it to the year XXXX. They sent me a letter XXXX and i looked on my credit report and seen they illegally re aged the dept to XXXX. This is a clear violation of the ftc. I reported this to them but they dont care it seems I am just a XXXX citizen they feel they can prey on. Also my last 4 digits of my social security are XXXX. I could not enter it in the next step for some reason. Thank you for everything. God bless America

Complaint: Portfolio Recovery is a debt buyer who is misreporting to at least XXXX, XXXX and XXXX, a debt they bought from XXXX XXXX XXXX, specifically my old MasterCard # XXXX. Its a very old account of mine that I last made a payment on or about XXXX, XXXX. Portfolio lists the debt on the credit reporting agencies as of the date they bought it from XXXX XXXX, which was around XX/XX/XXXX. Although I have had numerous phone calls and letters exchanged with Portfolio, they refuse to report this debt accurately to the credit reporting bureaus. It should be removed from the credit reporting bureaus as the debt is older than 7 years. Can CFPB help me?

Complaint: I discharged a debt for XXXX XXXX through bankruptcy as a result of identity theft. The debt was charged off and the bankruptcy was dismissed. I am assuming Portfolio Recovery has purchased this debt and is attempting to collect. They have harassed my continuously via phone, email and as of yesterday not my place of employment. I have contacted them via mail to let them know this is not my debt and they still continually harass me. My work is off limits. I work in a hospital and am unable to receive calls and now they are robo calling the nurses line. I do not want to speak with them directly because they do not listen. I need help to stop this unwanted harassment.
