Written notification about debt

Debt collection: Credit card debt

Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: PORTFOLIO RECOVERY bought the Debt from XXXX XXXX as of last year for two cards in the total amount of {$3200.00} one card is for {$1200.00} and the other capital one card is for {$2000.00} although the debt is nearly 3 1/2 years old. I didn't receive any documentation of my right to dispute or any paperwork for that matter. The next thing I know they're trying to take me for court and they didn't have an amount and no information specifically underlying my " case ''. I do not like the fact that this company is trying to bully me into paying a debt that I do not mind paying but using hostile tactics from a loan that they just bought from XXXX XXXX in XXXX and the debt pre-dates XXXX. ( Default of loans in XXXX ). This new loan has affected my credit score because it makes it looks as though my debt is brand new and it's not. I would like all reports from Portfolio Recovery to be removed since it's not from the original company ( XXXX XXXX ). I understand that Portfolio Recovery Soon after they first contact you, the debt collector is required to notify you of your right to dispute the validity of the debt. Then, you have 30 days to send a debt validation letter requesting proof that the debt is yours. After receiving your letter, the collector must stop collection activity until theyve sent the proof. Portfolio Recovery did no such thing. I never received that nor did I know that I have a window of time to dispute it. I understand that each state and rules may vary but my concern is that these loans will continue to be rebought over and over, as they continue to not only break the rules and keep me in the dark but hurt my credit and lively hood as well. I would like to come to some kind of peacful resolution.

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Credit card debt

Debt is not yours
Complaint: In XX/XX/2019, I conducted a review of my credit report. I found items that I was unaware if the debts actually were valid. Therefore, I began to dispute with the credit bureaus. Upon doing so, I received a letter stating that the debt was valid with a duplicate bill. According to FCRA laws, this does not substantiate the debt being valid, or, belonging to me. This company is known for such illegal collection tactics as well as failure to adhere to the laws of FCRA. Prior class action lawsuits indicate this. Yet, they still continue to engage in the same unethically and illegal practices.

Written notification about debt

Debt collection: I do not know

Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: Please be advised I have submitted numerous disputes to PRA regarding a fraudulent account they are continuously reporting to the credit bureaus. They have violated my rights to dispute the fraudulent account by sending letters to the wrong address knowingly I lived out of the state and then had the audacity to respond to my CFPB complaints stating I didnt take the opportunity to dispute. The latest of their shenanigans is attaching letters in a foreign language so why send letters in a foreign language? You clearly know I speak and read English and its my only language. PRA has been purposely, maliciously attempting to collect a debt that clearly hasnt been validated by any means and in the process has broken many laws in their attempt. Please see enclosed my letters in reference to this matter.

The only thing that I was sent was a billing statement for the account with the {$450.00} balance. I was told that if I did not submit a settlement offer they would notify my employer. And I paid they would remove information from my credit reports. I submitted an offer and they denied it as well. I have tried everything possible to dispute the debt and have it removed. I have only had 1 XXXX XXXX account but Portfolio Recovery will not assist with validation or removing the debt.

Complaint: This company is 'Portfolio Recovery ', contacting me via my cell phone from XXXX. I have repeatedly told this company to stop contacting me about this debt that is >16 years old. They always call from unidentifiable numbers. I have sent them letters via certified mail, still, the calls continue. I use my cell phone for business purposes. I can't handle having these harassing calls continue year after year despite my every effort to get them to stop.
