Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Navient is my loan provider, I had them directly take payments out of my XXXX account every month, however sometime in XXXX I guess they had a change in policy that they never made me aware of that they would stop sending me monthly invoices in the mail, and that the only communication from then on would be through email which I never check, so I stopped receiving invoices in the mail and something happened with the billing and I got XXXX notices of my late payment, I found out checking my credit score that went down XXXX XXXX for XXXX of their late payments, I feel this is very unfair, had I not checked my credit report id still be delinquent, I want them two remove the XXXX late payments on my credit report, I explained my situation too them but they were very rude and told me to just deal with it, also the school I attended, XXXX XXXX charged me for a whole term after I took just a few credits and said I couldn't get my money back, it all seems like a big scheme to me.

Fraudulent loan
Complaint: A year after I graduated, I was allowed to take out a tuition answer loan through Sallie Mae citing my boyfriend as the person who was enrolled. I believe I was unfairly and fraudulently targeted, not understanding that this loan was unaffordable and unnecessary. Additionally, all tuition was paid in full for the year yet I was allowed to take out this loan not being educated or explained the future ramifications of having this loan and making {$12.00} an hour out of college.

Complaint: I attended XXXX XXXX University from XXXX - XXXX, and I took both Private and Federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans. The school then closed after the XXXX school year. In the fall of XXXX and XXXX of XXXX, two of my fellow nongraduating classmates each received letters from the US Department of Education stating their loans had been discharged by a " Closed School Claim ''. Additionally they received checks returning any payments made toward the loans. Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: I enclosed a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX with my monthly XXXX payment of {$110.00} + {$100.00} Principal that included explicit instructions for handling any overpayments ( payments over the amount billed ) I might make. This letter and payment due on XX/XX/XXXX was received by Navient on XX/XX/XXXX and the letter also instructed Navient to retain the instructions and apply them to all future over payments. These instructions included directives to apply any over payments to the principal balance of the loan with the highest interest rate, and not to reduce my monthly payment or put my loans into Paid Ahead status, etc. For my XXXX monthly payment due XX/XX/XXXX, I sent a check in the amount of {$1200.00} which was received by Navient on XX/XX/XXXX. After this payment was processed by Navient, my next monthly billing statement dated XX/XX/XXXX and due XX/XX/XXXX from Navient was for only {$58.00} as were all subsequent bills. When I paid my XXXX, XXXX and XXXX bills I enclosed a letter asking them to put my payment amount back to {$110.00} and asking them to explain why they changed it against my explicit instructions not to. I have received no explanation to date and my monthly payment remains at {$58.00} despite my repeated requests. As best I can tell, it looks like Navient stopped billing me {$26.00} for Loan XXXX almost like it was put into " paid ahead '' status, and they also stopped billing me another {$32.00} as well. Note that Loan XXXX is currently the loan with the highest interest rate! I have attached the following documentation : - My XX/XX/XXXX letter and payment handling instructions to Navient - My XX/XX/XXXX letter asking for an explanation and to have my payment changed back to {$110.00} - My XX/XX/XXXX letter asking for an explanation and to have my payment changed back to {$110.00} - Navient Loan Information dated XX/XX/XXXX prior to my {$1200.00} payment and showing {$110.00} due - Navient Loan Information dated XX/XX/XXXX after my {$1200.00} payment and showing {$58.00} due and {$0.00} due for Loan XXXX

Need information about your loan balance or loan terms
Complaint: Hello, My complaint is an ease of access to my information on the NAVIENT website. I've been making regular payments on my student loans for several years. Throughout the years, if I have enough money to make an over-payment on a particular loan I would use their website to sort all my individual loans by various factors such as, loan total and interest percent. Within this view, I would click each loan and it would show details about that individual loan, such as, monthly payment amount for that particular loan. It would also tell me how many months at that particular payment was remaining within that loan. My complaint is how this information is accessed within the website. In its old state, I could click from one loan and see the details and then quickly click to another to play our scenarios within my mind as to which loan would be best to pay off first. The websites current sate now has users click within a different part of the website and submit a request and then I can view the same information within a PDF. Although the information is certainly provided to me the delivery is now harder to access. I have sent several queries to the help center within the website asking WHY the loan detail information is in this seemingly less convenient user flow. The responses I get are canned responses explaining how I can access the information. Here is a copy paste of their PDF response : XXXX Dear XXXX, Thank you for your inquiry. I am happy to help. The monthly payments are now under a different tab. If you login and click on Tools and Requests then Printable Account Information, you will find the remaining payment terms for each loan on the left as your scroll down the page. I hope this was helpful to you. Effective XX/XX/2019, the payment address for U.S. Department of Education ( ED ) loans we service will be : Department of Education, Student Loans, Navient XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX, OR XXXX If you use a bill pay service to send your ED payments to us, please update your service to ensure no delays in processing your payment. We're here to help If we may be of further assistance, visit us online or give us a call at XXXX, Monday through Thursday, XXXX XXXX. to XXXX XXXX., and Friday XXXX XXXX. to XXXX XXXX., ET. Sincerely, XXXX, your Navient Email Representative Navient - Department of Education Loan Servicing ================================= I want to emphasize that this complaint although sounds petty, it's incredibly frustrating at how it seems that NAVIENT is motivated by changing the design of their website to ensure that I spend as much time as possible accumulating interest on all my loans. I understand that this will probably not lead into any actionable complaint, however I have reasonable suspicion that NAVIENT is not interested in transparency of my repayment options but instead motivated to make my loan details harder to access. Admittedly, I am mostly motivated to finish repaying my loans so that I no longer have to deal with this company. One could call that a mutual compromise. Thanks to whomever is reading this. I appreciate all that you do!

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: XXXX XXXX issued an intensely high and very aggressive loan for a XXXX college- XXXX XXXX XXXX college XXXX XX/XX/XXXX to myself. All portions of the loan were not discussed nor did I sign any type of promissory note. The loan application indicates they provide quarterly interest statements. In XXXX I began receiving calls from a loan company called Navient stating i had to pay back over XXXX dollars and my payments would only cover my interest. Upon further investigation I found that the loan that was dispersed to me personally was in fact a private loan that had been misrepresented to me by the school and XXXX XXXX. I have tried to work with the Navient company and they refuse to work with me in reducing this debt and also discussing why 10 years this loan was allowed to accumulate interest with no communication with the original company.

Problem with customer service
Complaint: After completing my course and paying on my loan for 13 years they refused to release my cosigner. The school I attended at the time has gone out of business so I was unable to get a copy of my completion certificate. I lost my original and tried to get another only to discover the school had gone out of business. I have been paying on this loan for 13 yrs, what difference does if make if I completed the course? Whether I completed it or not, I am still obligated to repay the loan. Not having a certificate saying I completed the course does not justify not releasing a cosigner after 13 yrs of payments. I just found out one of the Navient law suits is about cosigner releases.

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: Upon entering my repayment period, upon graduation in XX/XX/2011, I was unemployed and needed to reduce my payments to their lowest possible amount. I was repeatedly advised to choose forbearance rather than IBR despite being eligible for the latter and despite the fact that the latter would result in a $ 0 monthly payment and the former resulting in accruing more interest.
