Account status incorrect
Complaint: My XXXX score dropped 25 points due to Navient reporting my account as closed. Per my XXXX credit score, it was reported XX/XX/18. When I checked my score XX/XX/18 is when I noticed it had dropped. My loan in currently deferred, so it should not show as closed, as that is inaccurate reporting. When I check XXXX XXXX, which using a different scoring module, it shows open, as it should. I have called Navient and was told they " have nothing to do with that ''

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I have now applied for a lower payment 5 times. My last time I applied for a recalculation, they actually increased the payment by another {$50.00}. So now it is {$180.00}. Why in the world we they increase the payment when I stated I can't afford a {$130.00} per month? Well, I called last week and got a honest rep on the phone who told me the truth ; evidently Navient falsified my grow income and " certified my income at $ XXXX/year. I didn't make {$32000.00} a last year. I haven't made that kind of money in over 5 year plus year. At best my AGI will be somewhere around $ XXXX after all the medical expenses and other deductions. That same honest rep did acknowledge the gross error and advised me to again resubmit my information after I did my taxes. That's another 3 months out! Whoever that did the review completely ignored all my actual information that this honest rep acknowledged was indeed received and should have been reviewed. I supplied Navient with my last bi-weekly paychecks from both employers and even a spreadsheet of all my medical expenses ; they still made a total mess of the recalculation. The rep wanted to put me into another forbearance and claimed that I he couldn't do a deferment over the phone for my Federal Loans that Navient took over. I refused the forbearance. So now the clock is ticking on defaulting because of the dangerous game Navient is playing with my finances. My actual gross is {$27000.00} before deducting the {$2300.00} in medical expenses. Please intervene.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: I applied for a renewal of my income based repayment for my federal loans. For the last number of years I have made the same payment of about {$770.00} for my consolidated federal loans. This was full repayment mode. I received income based repayment for XX/XX/2018 for $ XXXX monthly. Now that my plan has expired my payments went up to {$1600.00}. I don't understand why it would double ... Ive never paid that amount. I was on full payment plan, not graduated payments I do not understand why the payment would be so much. When I called to ask, I could not get an answer. I did the application and I still need to provide another document for my application. But why would my payment double?

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: The loan was disbursed on XX/XX/XXXX. I attended XXXX-XXXX in XXXX XXXX Missouri for a half of a semester. I dropped the classes when I realized that XXXX dollars for a four year degree from an unaccredited school was a rip off. XXXX-XXXX told me they were nationally accredited and credits should transfer anywhere. I later found out that a school had to be regionally accredited. I made payments of XXXX or XXXX $ for around a year. After my daughter had been born on XX/XX/XXXX I continued to make the XXXX $ payments for awhile. When I called to ask Navient ( Sallie Mae at that time ) if I could lower my payments the lady on the phone said that I could only place the loan into forbearance and the XXXX $ was the absolute minimum. I believe this was in XX/XX/XXXX. I know in either XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX I called to ask once again if I could have my payment lowered and once again I was told I could only have the loan placed into forbearance because XXXX $ was the absolute minimum payment they would accept. I was only making about XXXX $ a month working one weekend a month as a XXXX at that time.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I was originally placed into a private consolidation loan that began with a low interest only payment of {$390.00}. That payment increased to {$1500.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. I have struggled to make that payment. I called on XX/XX/XXXX to ask how I could lower my payment. The first agent I spoke with told me that I had the option of extending my payments and lowering them to approximately {$500.00} or that I could have forbearance for up to one year. I explained that I did not want forbearance as I did want to pay my loan, just at a more manageable payment. He told me that he understood and just need to check on the new terms. At that point he put me on hold. A different agent then picked up the call, told me that she had no record of the immediately previous conversation, and told me that there were no options at all with the loan I had and I just had to continue making the large payment. I told her that I was confused since the previous agent told me I could modify my payment. She then connected me to a supervisor. The supervisor told me that I could do forbearance but that I could not modify the payment. I explained that I didn't want forbearance since that would just add to my loan balance. Three different agents, three different stories. I am very upset since I want to pay but they will not assist me in modifying the amount. When speaking to the first agent I told him that I could afford up to {$600.00} per month. I am writing to request your assistance in getting the terms of my loan modified. On a separate note, I entered into the educational program with XXXX at the request of my previous employer. XXXX has made it nearly impossible for me to complete that degree. They want an additional {$10000.00} in tuition and fees above those which were quoted to me at the time of enrollment. They have also refused to modify my program and apply my credits to a less costly program. So I feel that I have been misled and hoodwinked by both XXXX who has received tens of thousands of dollars from me and not provided me with a degree or assistance to complete a degree, and by Navient who placed me in an expensive consolidation program that, apparently, can not be modified in any way. Thank you for your assistance.

Keep getting calls about your loan
Complaint: Navient has been attempting to contact me. They have an accurate phone number, email address and physical address. Today, XX/XX/2019, they opted to contact my fiance. At this time, he is NOT listed on any of my accounts, his phone number is NOT listed as any of my contact information and NO ONE is authorized to speak to him about my personal finances. This is a huge breach on the part of Navient as they have now shared personal information to someone who is NOT authorized to receive information.

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I am a XXXX year old XXXX XXXX that works in a XXXX XXXX, here in XXXX state ; and I feel that the amount that Navient is requesting I pay is way too high. I currently owe {$140000.00} from 1-01 DL Consolidated- subsidized ( {$42000.00} ) and 1-02 DL Consolidated- Unsubsidized ( {$100000.00} ) loans. I have made payments in the past of {$240.00}, which has not placed a financial burden on me. My income at that time was the following : XXXX, XXXX, XXXX ( per US income tax returns ). I placed the loans on forbearance because I am in the process of paying off some medical and credit card debt. That forbearance will expire in XX/XX/XXXX. My problem is that when I send in my tax income tax information to determine what I should pay, per my income driven repayment plan, Navient doesnt take into account that I have other debts ( cost of living expenses ), that I have to pay as well. Enclosed is a summary of what my monthly cost of living expenses are : Mortgage + HOA expenses= {$1300.00} Utilities= {$1300.00} ( auto insurance, cable/streaming, water+sewer, phone, storage fees, and credit card payments ) TOTAL= {$2600.00} My take home income is approximately {$2600.00} working 72 hours ( I have to work an additional 12 hours to make ends meet ( $ XXXX {$360.00} for a total monthly income of {$300.00} ). So, my total monthly income is approximately XXXX. My financial goal for XXXX is to pay off 2 of the credit cards and that would free up {$270.00} ( approximately ). Navient is telling me that if I dont submit my tax income ( that of which I will ), I will have to pay over {$1300.00} per month! Considering I just reduced my phone, and cable bill by about {$200.00} per month, ( by changing carriers, and paying off the cost of my phone ), and I bought a condo instead of renting, how am I expected to pay over $ 500.00/month ( the estimate payment to Navient AFTER submitting my tax info for the Income Driven Repayment Plan )!. I also have an issue with one of the schools I attended- XXXX University ( XXXX , XXXX ) - in which there is an outstanding bill for tuition for approximately {$60000.00} ( that is included in the DL loans ). The school is closing as of XX/XX/XXXX of XXXX ; I did not complete the XXXX program ( by completing the last course ), and now I cant complete it there because the school is closing. I did withdraw from the school about 2 years ago, but I had no idea that there were closing! I currently have a letter from Navient to submit another application for Income-Driven Repayment plan, that of which I have submitted. First of all, I dont understand how Navient can charge so much for repayment ( if I had that level of income, I would surely pay it! ) ; it looks like Navient is basing what I have is gross income without considering living expenses ; secondly, why should I pay for a school that is closing this year? Can that amount be deducted from my total bill? XXXX University was a private university. I can give you the account number of my Navient account if so requested, via email.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: My student loan is currently with Navient and I have field 2 previous complaints for past dues fees when I was making my payments on time. This month I finally get a statement with no past due charges but my monthly payment when my {$390.00} to {$410.00} with no explanation as to why. This company is dishonest but I also believe these complaints will resolve nothing since you close them out based on the answer you get from Navient. This company has multiple lawsuits filed against but they are allowed to manages student loans and O would like an answer from you as to why.
