Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Old information reappears or never goes away
Complaint: I have disputed this outdated information several times. They remove it and then wait and add it back with a later date. The loans are from XX/XX/2003. IRS has garnished taxes to pay balances yet they are still being reported.

False statements or representation

Debt collection: Federal student loan debt

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I consolidated my student loans. Navient became the my creditor. First off they said I received a $ XXXXXXXX refund after the consolidation, which I never received or even heard about. When I originally had my loans consolidated by the XXXX XXXX XXXX they were $ XXXXXXXX ( approx. ) When I began making payments to Navient, my loans were suddenly over {$80000.00} ( approx ). I have been paying on these loans since XX/XX/XXXX monthly and they haven't decreased at all. I called Navient to find out how I could address my student loan debt as my principle amount continued to increase despite payments recommended by Navient. I asked about loan forgiveness because I worked for a non-profit drug and alcohol treatment program as a counselor for many years. I was told that Navient did not offer loan forgiveness. I asked the young woman if there was someone else I could speak to about my options and she told me she was the supervisor and she wished she could help me, she understood my frustration because she had student loans herself she had to pay back. There was nothing they could do for me. I said how can my loans be increasing if I am paying the interest plus principle ( approx $ XXXX. ). She said she didn't know. Several months later I called again as I had resigned from my position and was on unemployment. Navient instructed me to get a forbearance on my loans. I did so until I was off unemployment and employed again. They suggested I 2xs that I do an interest only re-payment plan. I believe Navient manipulated my ignorance and did not guide me well with repayment options. I believed that Navient misguided me into a forbearance as well as an interest only payment to profit from my ignorance. I further believe that Navient either recorded a refund that they never sent me or that this refund as a result of my loan consolidation was fabricated for their benefit. Finally I believe that Navient hires debt counselors that are not qualified to advise students about their debts to Navient. Taking advantage of students for profit is wrong. Thank you for looking into this.

Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Debt collection: I do not know

Threatened to sue you for very old debt
Complaint: Receive constant threats from so many different companies about student loans that I can't keep track. Recently I received a threat from XXXX threatening to garnish my wages at my new job. This is in addition to XXXX XXXX XXXX, Navient, XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX. I have written letters to every one of these companies requesting validation of debt and letters disputing the validity of this debt and they never respond, or they send me a promissory note from XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX which was paid off in XXXX they have a list of 10+/- student loans from years I was not enrolled in school. They have completely ruined my life, my credit, several jobs for 18 years. I have done everything in my power to rectify this situation but they simply pass it off to a different company. They have put 36 pages worth of negative reports on the 3 credit reporting agencies, I have disputed the records but nothing was done. In XXXX I was so sick of the stress from these companies and the constant harassment and contacting my employer, that I called them back and settled the debt ( that I didn't even owe ) just so they would leave me alone. I paid them {$5900.00} with the promise of a letter stating all student loan debt was satisfied in full and a list of loans covered in the agreement XX/XX/XXXX! As soon as they got the money they never sent the satisfaction letter, put all of the money to INTEREST ONLY on 3 loans not a single dollar to principle and put all the loans back in default and reported to 3 credit bureaus. They have levied my tax return for 10years without proper notification or proof of debt. I also paid another company {$140.00} a month for loan Rehab they never paid {$1.00} towards my loans & defaulted me again.

Student loan: Private student loan

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Navient services both my federal and private loans. I've had many issues over the years with Sallie Mae and Navient, but this one really got me. I see Navient pulling money out of my account each month and hadn't received any calls, so I assumed everything was okay. I get a call today that says I'm behind, but I'm curious why since I see the money pulled every month. Apparently the last person I talked to set up my payment schedule to the wrong amount so I was underpaying each month, which made me delinquent. I'm done dealing with these people. They don't want to help you. I've also been paying on this for 10 years and have gained XXXX in interest and now owe nearly XXXX for a 2 year degree from a now defunct for profit school. Thanks mega corporations! Keep us enslaved!

Can't temporarily delay making payments
Complaint: I've been offset again this year for loans. I'm not sure what the meaning of economic hardship means to the Dept of Education, but I'm a single parent, with five dependents. My income is below the poverty level, one of my children is XXXX and receives SSI due to the lack of income. I don't understand how I don't qualify to file for a hardship even if I had to apply two years ago and my income has decreased since then??? My family is homeless, and I have a vehicle that is in need of repairs. We live in a rural area where there's no public transportation to get around, and simply can't afford to have this money taken away. I got no letter, the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX did not provide the most up to date info in reference to offset info. I was under the impression that this was a legal requirement. I need help here please.

Dealing with your lender or servicer

Student loan: Private student loan

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: I have been paying on my loans since 2010 and the balances have barely decreased. Tried to make arrangements and the still closed one of my accounts. They have been calling me and my dad ( co-signer ) about late payments even after I paid on the balance. They sent me a repayment amount for the only open account, which I have been paying, and still send emails saying I am delinquent and owe more money. The system will not allow me to make payments each month even though if it is above the amount my monthly payment is. They now tell me I have to pay on the closed account because they still collect money for it even though I have sent money to the debt collector my account was sent to. I have asked for statements and monthly payment requirements but get different answers each time I call. They still have not sent all my statements for all loans, what Ive paid, & the balances due. I cant get into the account online. It always says The account is disabled. I have asked on several calls to them for this to be corrected but they have not fixed the problem.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I checked my account as I made two recent large payments, one of which was canceled upon my request as it was made from the wrong bank account. I had decided to also check my account history for the life of all loans. I noticed " loan sale '' in the list of transactions and I called to inquire about it. The representative suggested I sort the history " by loan '' and I will see that a loan sale is the transfer from one service provider to another and it will not impact my balance. Sorting " by loan '' did show the additional column of " balance '' which helped me understand that my balance had not been impacted by this loan sale transaction. Upon further review, I noticed that on 9 different signature student loans, my entire payment being made ( one lump sum payment made and spread across all loans ), 100 % of the payment was going towards interest only from XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. For 6 years, ( a total of 68 payments ) my payments were only being applied to interest. Over that period of time, I paid {$17000.00} in interest only while my principal balance was not impacted. I checked my wife 's account with Sallie Mae/Navient as well as my own Stafford loan I also had through this company and these loans were not treated the same way. My Stafford loan payment application was roughly 85 % principal and 15 % interest for the life of the loan. My wife 's loan which is the same loan type as the 9 aforementioned loans of mine, had a payment application of roughly 50 % principal and 50 % interest and had increased to roughly 75 % principal and 25 % interest later on in the life of the loan. I was never educated on my loan payment application percentages and I never gave permission for interest only payments for the period of XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. I never made any changes on or after XX/XX/XXXX to payment application percentages. The company made these changes on their own accord without my knowledge. This has caused me to overpay a large amount of interest. With my principal balance not changing for 6 years, the interest on XX/XX/XXXX and after XX/XX/XXXX was based on a much larger principal than it would have otherwise been, had the payments been properly applied to both the principal and interest.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: I have contacted Navient many times about reducing the low income plan due to my fixed income. They have the reduction for two or three months, which I disagreed with the offer. They stated, " They do not have low income at that time for long term. '' I told them, " I need a permanent plan according to my income. '' I looked around, they did a forbearance on the loan. I like to pay on the loan according to my income. This is my second complaint regarding the loan. Also, Navient overcharging late fees.

Don't agree with the fees charged
Complaint: I have a student loan being serviced with Navient. My payments are due on the XXXX of every month. This month, XXXX, I was working a lot of hours and realized I forgot to make my payment. When I logged on XX/XX/19 I noticed my loan balance was {$140.00} higher than it was last month. I've been tracking the balance and payment application for a while. I assume this is a late fee, but I was only 3 days late and this seems really excessive. I tried calling customer service and the number I called had two options one to speak with someone about loan forgiveness and the other sent me to survey about vacation and when I declined it hung up. I tried calling back several times, and each time received a different message and was not able to get the call to go through. I've made several complaints against the Navient as I feel the payments aren't being applied correctly and I've see what appears to be interest charges I don't understand. I've called in the past and have not been able to get a sufficient explanation. Now it appears I can't even speak with anyone regarding my account. I know they have a lot of class action law suites open but what are borrows who have them supposed to do if they can't even speak to someone about their loans anymore?
