Fraud or scam

Money transfer, virtual currency, or money service: Mobile or digital wallet

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 there was an unauthorized online money transfer initiated from my Chase Debit account to an anonymous recipient in the amount of {$300.00}. This recipient was added to the account 1 minute prior to the money transfer. After calling Chase to report the fraud ( the same evening as it happened ), my online account was suspended.I had been hacked. I was told I didn't need to cancel my physical card since the fraud was through my online account. They also credited my account for the amount of the fraudulent charge. 10 days later I had heard nothing from Chase so I called them and they informed me I needed to cancel the debit account effected and open a new account. Upon opening a new debit account the Chase representative said she could simply link my new account to the existing card and did not need to order a new card only to find out later I did need to order a new card for the new account due to the fraud. The new card arrived the following Monday, however the new pin never did, so I again had to take an extra step and physically go to Chase for assistance with the pin. On XX/XX/2019 I received a letter from Chase stating the fraud was authorized and the amount they had credited would be revised. Their phone costumer service was beyond rude so I went to a branch the next morning. There the representative explained that on their end the fraud looked authorized because it looked like the log in was made from my mobile devise. Back on XX/XX/2019 I had left my phone unlocked at the XXXX XXXX to get my phone replaced between XXXX XXXX- XXXX XXXX, leaving all of my stored information vulnerable to it's employees. I explained all of this to the Chase representative on XX/XX/XXXX and after some phone time with their fraud department he stated again that according to their system the charge was made from a previously authorized device around XXXX XXXX. ( After I had gotten my phone back from XXXX ) I spoke with someone who worked at the XXXX XXXX XXXX and they informed me that there are so many cameras behind the scenes during repairs, that it would be difficult ( but not impossible ) for someone to access my information and submit the fraudulent transaction. His advise however was that it would be more likely that a hacker got a hold of both my XXXX ID and bank log-in information and then could easily simulate my devise to make the transaction - making it look like it was coming from my device. While I understand why the bank is making the verdict they are, I think it's wrong they are not taking my statement more serious saying that I had been hacked. Sure their company security wall was not attacked, but one of their loyal costumers is asking them to help with an online attack to their personal money and all Chase told me - literally- was to " Ask the person for my money back since I clearly knew them ''. There are so many articles out there about hackers targeting your mobile phones and online accounts, why is Chase just brushing this off? There's even hackers out there who film you on your phone and then slow down the footage to watch your finger movements for passwords. Whether the amount is {$500.00}, {$50000.00} or just {$50.00}. A bank should be doing everything in their power and protect your money. XXXX knows the second you're late on payment they wont stop calling you, why should their persistency be any different for fraud. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act I have zero liability on debit card related fraudulent charges if I notify them immediately - which I did. I suspended my online account, closed my existing debit account and opened up a new one, had to order a new card and pin then update all my billing accounts. I believe Chase is violating that right and I would like to exercise my right to investigate this further after Chase refused to be of further assistance. Especially as this is happening just half a year after the indictment of a XXXX hacker who hacked 80 million JP Morgan costumers.. ( who reportedly didn't get bank info but what do we really know anymore ). At this point it's not even about the amount anymore, it's about a company keeping it's costumers safe.

Overdrafts and overdraft fees
Complaint: I have my reoccurring fees set up to be pulled from my account on the XXXX of every month so I can always be sure that I wont be charged an insufficient funds fee. However to my disappointment it does not matter that I am attempting to be responsible with money, Chase bank always posts the reoccurring fees last according to the representative I spoke with. This way they can charge consumers the most money. 3 reoccurring transactions debit my account on the XXXX of every month. In this case XX/XX/XXXX. I received a direct deposit from my place of employment and then as normal, any reoccurring fees are taken out first thing in the morning. I had enough to cover these reoccurring transactions Chase posted them on Tuesday, XX/XX/XXXX, not in the order they came in but purposely at the end to maximize their profit. They post these transactions this way because I currently have debit card coverage switched off and because of this, they cant charge my account {$34.00} for everyday debit card transactions. So I was charged 3 separate {$34.00} fees for the reoccurring transactions which apparently are treated differently than normal transactions. Obviously this isnt true because other banks, XXXX XXXX, treat this the same as any other transaction.

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Didn't receive advertised or promotional terms
Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, I contacted Chase XXXX XXXX customer service regarding the calculation of my minimum payment due. On XX/XX/2019, I transferred a balance of {$8500.00}. It was a XXXX percent balance transfer offer. I researched the minimum payment due calculation and per the cardmember agreement, the minimum payment is calculated at 1 % of the new balance, plus interest charges and fees ; therefore, I transferred this balance based on this information. I received my XX/XX/2019 statement. The balance was {$11000.00} and the minimum payment was {$560.00}. The minimum payment is definitely larger than the 1 % of the new balance plus interest and fees per my cardmember agreement. I tried to figure out how this calculation was made and I couldn't figure it out. I let it go for the month, figuring I was being charged the 1 % of the new balance, plus interest and fees ( the fees being the balance transfer fee of 4 % of {$8500.00}. I paid {$580.00} on XX/XX/2019. I thought from here on out, my minimum monthly payment should be approximately {$110.00} per month. I received my XX/XX/2019 statement. The balance is {$11000.00} and the minimum payment is {$560.00}. On XX/XX/2019, I contacted Chase XXXX XXXX customer service regarding the minimum payment calculation. I first spoke with XXXX. She stated that my minimum payment is being charged at 5 % plus interest and any fees. I told her that it should be 1 % and she told me that my cardmember agreement stated 5 %. I hung up and researched the cardmember agreement. I found it online and have saved it to my files. This agreement should not be any different than the one that I should be receiving in 10 days. Per the agreement found online, it is indeed, 1 % of new balance plus interest and fees. I called customer service back and spoke with XXXX, but was transferred to another person due to computer issues. I do not have this person 's name, as I could not understand her name. I explained to her that the cardmember agreement that is online states the 1 % of new balance plus interest and fees. She could not change it to the appropriate calculation per the agreement and said I would have to fax my agreement and jump through hoops. I told her that this was in violation of my agreement and that I would be contacting the CFPB.

Complaint: My bankruptcy was final XX/XX/2018. Chase Bank Auto Loan was one of the creditors that was in the bankruptcy. The account shows as delinquent, past due in collections. This is not true. It is part of the bankruptcy. I have made three attempts through disputes to Chase and when they updated it, it stills show the same as above, delinquent, past due balance {$XXXX} owed. Now my debt ratio includes {$XXXX} that was written off. I want this taken care of. I contacted them by phone also, they said their records indicated it was part of the bankruptcy but they wouldn't update unless I sent a dispute. I have done so, 3 times.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: Dispute claim is rejected by credit card company despite providing proof from XXXX timeshare that the contract is terminated. The dispute resolution process on my last appeal dated XXXX was acknowledged by bank but was automatically closed without giving me any notification or reason for denial. History : 1. Purchased XXXX timeshare sometime in XX/XX/XXXX. 2. Paid the remaining balance of XXXX with Chase credit card company on XX/XX/XXXX. 3. Received the XXXX login details 1 month after purchase and quickly realized that we have been misled and it was not what they said it is.Tried to contact XXXX to dispute but customer support is hard to reach 5. Hired a company to terminate the contract with XXXX and filed a dispute claim with Chase on XX/XX/XXXX for reason of false misrepresentation/ product not as advertised. We providied proof that we are in the process of terminating the contract. Bank rejected the dispute on XXXX XXXX 6. XX/XX/XXXX, we received confirmation letter from XXXX that membership is terminated. We again filed a dispute claim providing copy of termination letter. Bank rejected it in XXXX. 7. I then again submitted an appeal letter dated XXXX. Letter was acknowledged by bank on XXXX stating they will review the case and will not charge me any interest. Did not receive any update since then. In XXXX, I started getting interest charges on my statement. So, XX/XX/XXXX I called the bank for status and I was told that they have closed the case automatically. They said they closed the case because the final decision to deny was already made in XX/XX/XXXX. I questioned them on why they sent me an acknowledgment letter in XXXX stating that they will look at my case but did not give the courtesy to send a notification letter that they denied and closed the case? They said I do not need to be notified because they have already denied my claim in XXXX Dont I have the right to be notified? Why send a letter in XXXX only to close the case because of a decision made in XXXX? Just because this is a timeshare dispute, the bank is biased in their decisiion of this case. The fact is, XXXX has confrimed the membership to be terminated. Although it is true that we purchase the XXXX but we also have the right to dispute if the consumers are misled by false marketing representation or if product is not what they said it is. Credit card companies should protect the interest of its users by not allowing transactions with unscrupulous merchants/ vendors like timeshare companies. We work hard so we can live the life we want and go on our dream vacations. It is heartbreaking for us to lose hard earned money to unscrupulous business practices.

Complaint: CHASE BANK COLLECTING AND HOLDING MONEY ILLEGALLY AFTER LOCKING ACCOUNT My chase account over 15 years was hacked. When I noticed the bank had moved {$3000.00} from my checking to savings I immediately moved it back and changed my user name and password. The following day the bank said it prevented a {$1000.00} dollar withdrawal and another for {$200.00} +. The Bank then locked my account and told me to contact the fraud department, which I did. After an hour of verifying who I was the fraud manager told me to contact another number to set up a new account the next day. I followed his advice and was told they would not open another checking and savings account for me, and that I had to come in to a local branch. I retired overseas 8 years ago and have thus far transacted all my money transfers online. The cost of flying back to the US is prohibitive since I live on {$700.00} social security and {$300.00} XXXX veterans pension. My XXXX year old mother was a signer on the account and held a complete Power of Attorney, which chase refused to accept in order to open a new account in my name. So chase opened an account in her name with my social security checks and VA XXXX checks going into her account WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. And even now chase refuses to allow me access to my own money going into another persons account. That should be illegal, if it isn't already. This situation really needs to be remedied ASAP. Sincerely XXXX XXXX XXXX
