Opening an account

Checking or savings account: Checking account

Didn't receive terms that were advertised
Complaint: Chase advertised to offer XXXX reward points for opening a Sapphire checking account. I opened the account in XX/XX/XXXX and met all the requirements. But Chase posted the reward in XX/XX/XXXX to one of my Freedom credit card that Chase closed on their side on XX/XX/XXXX. So I never had a chance to redeem the reward. Attachment 1-5 are the details of the advertisement. On XX/XX/XXXX I called Chased and was told my Freedom account was closed for inactivity for 6 months. If thats the case, since I had a transaction in XX/XX/XXXX ( attachment 6 ), the card should be closed in XX/XX/XXXX and I should be able to redeem the reward in XX/XX/XXXX. The fact is I still received statements of that card for XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX ( attachment 7-8 ). The agent I talked to said she will escalate this and probably they will be able to let me use the points. On XX/XX/XXXX, I send a secure message to Chase to query further. They told me a different story, that my Freedom card account was closed on XX/XX/XXXX ( attachment 9-11 ), because inactivity for 12 months, even though I HAD a transaction in XX/XX/XXXX. If this is true, then Chase posted the reward point in XX/XX/XXXX to my account that was already closed for 2 months. I dont know which story they told me is true. In any case, I didnt receive any notice from Chase for account closure. In any case I had no chance to redeem the reward point that I deserve from the opening of the Sapphire checking account. Today I received a letter from Chase ( attachment 12 ), emphasizing that card holder has 30 days to redeem the reward after card closure. The issue is, again, Chase put the reward in XXXX into the account that they said they closed in XXXX, hence I had no chance to use them at all.

Problem with a purchase shown on your statement

Credit card or prepaid card: General-purpose credit card or charge card

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: Back in XX/XX/2019 a company called XXXX charged my credit card for {$230.00} without my consent. I had done business with them before but they were not authorized to to charge anything else on my card. They did and I immediately disputed the charge with CHASE. I explained to CHASE the situation and they promised they would look into it and handle it. I was told to provide information multiple times regarding what was charged and why I was disputing it. I did that and even called CHASE multiple times to explain why it was not a valid charge. They contacted the merchant who not only provided them with doctored emails but also claimed to have mailed a product to me that I NEVER received. I did not receive or activate a new device that XXXX claims to have provided me. Nor did I ever request it. CHASE sent me a letter claiming it was a valid charge even though it was not. So again I disputed it and they told me to send additional documentation which I did. At that point I asked for a Supervisor ( which recorded conversations will prove I was told one would call me back ) yet for 2 weeks no one did. Then I receive another letter saying again the case was closed. When I confronted CHASE of why a Supervisor did not call me they lied and said no notes where in the system when I know the phone conversation is recorded and happened. They failed to gather all the information, they consistently lied, and took the word of the merchant who sent them doctored documents. That is plain fraud. They did not protect me in this situation as consumer and so I have no choice but to file a complaint and escalate this to look into their practices and also have this charge disputed and off my bill. They brought this on themselves for the way they handled the situation.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, my Chase dept card was stolen. The same day, the thieves made 50+ individual transactions mainly at XXXX for an average of {$100.00} per transaction using the card and the PIN for a total of {$5500.00}. I filed a police report the same day and started a dispute with Chase. Chase responded in a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX that the claim was denied and all transaction are authorized.

Complaint: We filed a claim at an atm for {$800.00} which was fine until today. Now they are saying they cant verify that we never got the money ... .even though we called that day and gave them the receipt number and what it said. If it was {$20.00} that would be one thing but I am not going to lose {$800.00} bc the bank cant figure out how to correctly do their job. They can look on the camera and see we never got our money.

Took or threatened to take negative or legal action

Debt collection: I do not know

Threatened to sue you for very old debt
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a text from ( XXXX ) XXXX stating : " We have been trying to contact XXXX XXXX regarding outstanding ACCT # XXXX.Please Contact XXXX at your earliest convenience. '' -- On XX/XX/XXXX, I hit the phone number ( which was a live link to dialing ) that appeared in the text message, and an aggressive XXXX American man answered saying he was from a company called " XXXX '' and he claimed they were a " mediation firm ''. He tried to bully me into giving out my personal information. I wouldn't confirm my name or phone number ( worried it was a phishing scam ), but he said he could look me up by my phone number and asked " is this XXXX XXXX? '' I asked him what this was about ( not confirming my identity ) and he wouldn't give me a " debt '' amount for the supposed delinquent debt, or a company name for the supposed " debt ''. However, he threatened litigation and when I wouldn't give out my personal information, he told me that my " debt '' was going to be sent to court and I'd have to get my lawyer to deal with it and he hung up. -- On XX/XX/XXXX, I called the XXXX again from a landline and got an aggressive woman who said she was with " XXXX '' also and she sounded like she was in a boiler room/call center. She demanded the last four numbers of my social security number. I did not give that to her so she hung up on me. -- I called a third time on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke to a woman who said she was in XXXX, Florida who said she was from " XXXX '' and that they were a " mediation firm ''. She said the last two times I called the XXXX number it did not go to XXXX because she would've had record of it on the system. ( Even though I used the link in the text that was sent me, she claims the other two prior calls I made did NOT supposedly go to XXXX XXXX She also would not give me any information on the supposed " debt '', other than the first two calls supposedly didn't go to XXXX. -- FYI : I have no outstanding debts. This seemed like a bullying phishing scam. My credit score is XXXX and I meticulously track all my monthly payments on a chart. -- FYI, they knew my legal name just from my phone number and were able to quote the last 4 digits of my social security number as well. -- PLEASE, go after JP Morgan again as I understand they did this sketchy " collection '' stuff in XXXX and your agency won a class-action suit against them, and it appears they are doing it again!! I have no such debt. Thank you.

Problem with personal statement of dispute
Complaint: CREDIT BUREAU LATE PAYMENT DISPUTE with Chase XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, CA XXXX SSN : XXXX Dear Sir or Madam : I hope youre doing well today. My name is XXXX XXXX, and Ive been a satisfied customer of Chase for nineteen years. Ive always made my payments on time, but unfortunately, I recently made a mistake on XX/XX/XXXX. I understand how important it is to make timely payments. However, I missed my payment because my husbands XXXX XXXX that was in remission came back. I had turned off my auto pay with the intent to pay my balance in full and missed both my XXXX and XXXX payments because of the stress of the XXXX my husband underwent. As soon as I realized my mistake, I paid the balance in full of {$3900.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. As a person with a credit score of XXXX all of my life, I have never missed a payment to Chase, or any other creditor. As you can see from my account history, I have a long record of on-time payments before and since the late payment. This mistake cost me over 60 points on my credit score and I am sick about this. As a courtesy, I respectfully requested that Chase make a goodwill adjustment to remove the late payment on XX/XX/XXXX. Although Chase sympathized with my cause enough to credit me the {$39.00} late fee, they have still reported my credit account as delinquent and this is affecting my credit score. At one point, someone at Chase told me that they would see what they could do. When they forwarded my case to their Credit Bureau team, the team would not help me. I have been a pay-in-full customer for 19 years, and because of this relationship and record, I have asked for a goodwill gesture to remove the delinquent note, and they have refused. My track record is proof that I take my financial obligations seriously and I implore that you help Chase XXXX see that I am a customer worth offering this gesture of goodwill this one time only. This behavior from Chase makes me want to stop using Chase, even if I can't close the account. If you have any questions, or if you would like to speak with me in more detail, please call me at XXXX or send me an email at XXXX Thank you for your consideration, XXXX XXXX

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Difficulty submitting a dispute or getting information about a dispute over the phone
Complaint: I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX military veteran, I am award this XXXX through the VA, it is XXXX, XXXX, and service connected. I retired in XXXX of XXXX after nearly 27 years of XXXX XXXX service, released with an XXXX discharge. As a career XXXX XXXX, I held myself to the highest standards in all regards, and I was also held in the same light by my peers and everyone else is my chain of command, purview, both professional and business related, as I should be. I obtained a mortgage with Chase in XXXX. I was current on this account up until the credit report indicates. Following the XXXX financial crisis and a subsequent 9-10 month period of unemployment waiting for a new job opening, I began down the road of a significantly more exacerbated being unemployed, and still having to maintain support for XXXX children at that time. I received assistance from family members as best that they could help, I was still falling way short and the nine or ten months unemployed was devastating, I was employed again in XX/XX/XXXX, as a XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX following a career of 26 years as a XXXX XXXX. The ability to catch up, meet my XXXX XXXX obligations and every other commitment path popped up and had been previously committed too was daunting. At one point I had made the decision to declare bankruptcy, I had obtained an attorney, and began the process, although the lawyer was competent and highly specialized in this field, the process ran into a problem with some matters of tardiness with some matters that were out of my control. During this period of time I made an initial attempt to refinance with Chase Bank through their military department, I submitted my request over and over again and it did not come to fruition, I ran into a variety of delays and set-backs over months of time, one of those were a seemingly unexplainable inability for me to successfully send my documents to Chase and have them receive them, even when I attempted these deliveries from the Chase bank in XXXX, CA. I took a pause from my refinance attempts after a sustained effort to obtain that refinance through the military department at Chase. I decided to attempt this refinance once again through the military service department at Chase. I was connected with a young lady who worked there named XXXX XXXX, she was an amazing representative, timely, positive, straight forward, and professional. I was approved for this loan after a short period of time, it was so appreciated after taking many financial hits over a rough period of time, it was extremely important for so many reasons, personally, I take it very serious and being able to meet my obligations and provide for my family is of utmost importance to me, my current job, and all related jobs I would seek out are highly sensitive toward financial issues, as they should be. XXXX XXXX was a life saver, I made it a point to notify her superiors of her amazing work, it impacted my life then and still does today. I received the loan and the terms, part of that was an initial trial period for timely payments as laid out in the agreement I received and acknowledged with great appreciation. From the time I received this modification through Chase military section in XXXX, I have never had one late payment or any negative interaction with Chase, I remain extremely grateful and thankful to Chase and for this life changing opportunity to redeem myself. My mortgage was sold off and bought by XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX within the past year, I have had very, very poor service from this new group, to the person, and I contacted them many times over the initial setup period, they were rude, each and every time, extremely negative and demeaning, and this spanned over many phone calls for basic information on my account, I have never once had this kind of sustained negative service in my life, they are absolutely the most unprofessional organization I have ever had the misfortune of having to work with. I do not know the functioning or roles of the XXXX but they are not accredited through the XXXX, each and every review I read on them is as negative or more from what I have described. I am bringing this to light because I am currently in the process of attempting to refinance my mortgage to take advantage of any savings out there to better support my family and my XXXX kids attending college. Being able to get refinanced would assist me financially and it would be a great help ridding myself of XXXX, I believe everyone would love to do the same, it is amazing. Although I had an amazing experience with Chase with regard to Chase Loan ( XXXX ) their reporting on my situation after giving me my modification, and my meeting of all obligations of specified trial period, and no late payments whatsoever from the modification onward to current, their reporting seems to be a bit harsh and repetitive after my adherence to their gracious modification in XXXX. During my sit down attempting to refinance my property I was advised that I would be greatly hampered with a R 1-13 listed by Chase. I was advised that by talking to Chase about all of the successive R offenses it would have a huge negative impact on my report, and that is after I had met all of their terms and guidance for this procurement of the modification for which I am so grateful. I hesitated to contact Chase once notified of this reporting because from the time I was sent over to XXXX, once they purchased the servicing of the loan, I was advised that I would have to refer any and all of my inquires on loan matters through XXXX, they were not rude about this matter whatsoever. I attempted to speak to Chase multiple times after they transferred to XXXX to address several administrative matters and to inform them of the incredible service they had provided and the huge dissatisfaction with XXXX. I am sending my concerns with this repetitive reporting of my initial delinquency for such a long period, not just the overall event that led to my modification awarded through Chase Bank. I appreciate you're consideration of this matter, it is very important to myself and my family, employment to be upstanding with all financial matters. My very recent attempt to refinance brought this matter to light, instead of calling Chase again personally with the guidance I received from them on every other inquiry, it seemed more prudent to contact you directly to address this matter, XXXX is largely unequipped or open to speaking to any matter professionally. Any help I can receive with this matter would be of great assistance to me in pursuit of obtaining a refinance which impacts my personal financial matters directly affecting my family. I am in no way suggesting that Chase bank has let me down in anyway, they gave me an amazing opportunity, I can not express my appreciation enough. I was just aware that all matters pertaining to this loan were to be taken up with XXXX which is absolutely impossible as described above.

Problems at the end of the loan or lease

Vehicle loan or lease: Loan

Problem with paying off the loan
Complaint: I purchased and 2010 XXXX XXXX from JPMorgan Chase for my daughter in college. While paying for that car, I began to struggle and I called Chase. Chase helped me by putting one of my car payments at the end of the loan. The last payment was XX/XX/XXXX. So, being that that payment was put at the end of the loan, my last payment date would be XX/XX/XXXX. After XX/XX/XXXX, I received calls to make my payment. I asked one of the representatives could I pay that last payment XX/XX/XXXX and I was told " yes. '' I also made that representative aware that I was working extra time and she assured me that I would be fine. So I paid that last payment of {$190.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. The following month XX/XX/XXXX. My credit score dropped tremendously. I found out that I was reported by Jpmorgan Chase for being 30 days late on my final payment of my auto loan. Upon calling Chase the representative was so rude and not trying to help me, so I then filed a dispute with the credit bureau. After around 30 days, I received a letter stating that my credit report was accurate.

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Credit card debt

Debt was paid
Complaint: We opened an Amazon Prime Credit card through Chase Bank in XX/XX/2018 because of a promotion that would allow us to buy a couch worth {$1000.00} for about {$800.00}. We purchased that couch on XX/XX/2018 and it was shipped XX/XX/2018. The couch was paid for in one payment and we immediately called to cancel the card prior to XXXX. My wife and I had the understanding that Chase Bank received and processed the cancellation as we both distinctly remember receiving a couple of letters trying to get us back on board with using their credit card. Seven or eight months ago, my wife and I received a curious letter which appeared to be from Amazon Prime but did not have matching contact information nor did the logo appear to match prior statements that we had from them. We called to ask why we received a letter about owing some money, and we were told that our account was closed at the beginning of the year after we made our one time payment for a single purchase. I called Chase bank just to be absolutely sure, told them about the letter, and they told me the same thing to disregard this as spam. We did exactly that. A little over a week ago I received a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXXThat I had been sent to collections for {$350.00} because of a debt with Chase bank. I immediately called my branch and spoke with XXXX the XXXX XXXXXXXX, Who took the XXXX account number from the letter I had and said that this debt was real and in conjunction with Amazon Prime. She looked it up and said that that resulted from unpaid credit card fees, late payments fees, and interest. This is very concerning considering we have canceled the card at the beginning of the year after paying it off in one payment. XXXX said she was going to print out some statements for me to pick up at the bank branch later, and I have those statements now. An additional issue has begun today. I have started receiving phone calls from XXXX in XXXX Florida. There have been several calls to my phone from this number just this morning, and not one single voice message. I had my friend Who is well-versed in computer technology do a search on this number. According to XXXX, this number belongs to Chase Bank collections department. According to XXXX notes, people report receiving dozens of calls from this number a day, some have noted that it is an automated message from Chase bank. Personally I do not respond to an identified collars, or computers that call me, when there is no voice message left as an explanation. According to the statements, the only thing Chase Bank did after my request to cancel the Amazon Prime credit card, is open up a new one with a new account number without my knowledge or consent.
