Complaint: My wife and I, along with our XXXX children, were tenants at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX , XXXX , IL for a period of approximately XXXX years. We vacated the apartment at the end of our lease in XXXX XXXX We paid all of our rent when due, and complied with all of the terms and conditions of the lease. When we moved out, we asked for a " walk through '' but were refused. XXXX XXXX XXXX , XXXX , the landlord, some weeks later sent us a notice for {$580.00} for damages that do not exist. They collected no security deposit if there were a security deposit they clearly would not be allowed to withhold from it under the XXXX XXXX XXXX , which permits reasonable wear and tear. Instead they have hired a debt collection agency to harass us and are threatening to damage our credit if we do not pay them the amount they claim we owe. The photographs they claim show damage do not show anything obvious, and certainly not {$580.00} of damages. XXXX of the photographs actually shows a clean, empty apartment. They have no photographs of when we entered the apartment, to my knowledge. I suspect this might be part of a pattern. A landlord threatens collection against tenant. The tenant is afraid of damage to credit and pays off the landlord to go away, even though the charge is unfair. Many tenants hope to become homeowners. Credit ratings have a lot of power over people, and landlords and debt collection agencies should not be able to report debt that they can not prove to credit bureaus. If it were unpaid rent, that would be obvious in the lease. This is highly subjective, and they do not have the evidence to sustain a breach of lease claim.

Complaint: A collection account from Hunter Warfield showed up on my credit report about two weeks ago. This account is not mine. I have contacted the company and asked them for help removing it and for relevant information about the account. It is from an apartment I have never lived at or been associated with. The address of the apartment does not even show up on my credit file. They said they have been reporting since XXXX , but it only showed up on my credit file in XXXX of XXXX !! I have perfect credit and this account is ruining my credit. I have NEVER been sent any type of letter or bill from this company in the 2 years that they have had this account, and again I did n't even know this account excited till two weeks ago. I have called the company and they are unwilling to help or work with me. They want me to provide information that is so old and almost impossible to get, they also said that any information provided they would call and verify it as correct, which is invading my privacy.
