Complaint: XX/XX/2019 I received in the mail my background check documents and it says I was denied access to the Great Lakes facility XXXX mi but I didnt get any explanation too why. I have 1 XXXX XXXX on my record and its over 10 years old. From my understanding they only hold u accountable for 7 years back on your record I have no other XXXX XXXX on my record i have 1 open operating case which is a XXXX but its not closed I never been convicted.I just need a explanation as to why I got denied I have XXXX card I have passport Ive passed disa background check so Im able too get into 95 % of the facilities in the country Ive been all over for the pass 10 years this the first time Ive been denied thats why Im confused but Id appreciate it if I could get some answers soon thanks. Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, Great Lakes Servicing applied {$17000.00} in XXXX Loan Forgiveness to my student loan balance bringing the balance down to {$26000.00}, as shown in the documents I have attached. Great Lakes notified me by email and regular mail that my account was now in re-payment with the first payment of {$82.00} being due on XX/XX/2019 ( see attached ). They have not updated my credit report to reflect the Forgiveness payments, nor have they removed the " deferred '' remark either. I disputed this with XXXX. ( See attached ). XXXX completed its investigation on XX/XX/2019 and states that Great Lakes verifies the information I have disputed ( balance of {$43000.00} and payment status " deferred '' ) to be correct when the documentation I have from Great Lakes and live online access to my Great Lakes account shows it is not correct. This is hurting my creditworthiness and ability to secure a decent interest rate on a car loan. My car is 18 years old with XXXX miles on it! I need reliable transportation to get to work!

Complaint: I had issues with this loan, which honestly my credit score at the time should have NEVER even been approved it was a shock to me and my spouse. I kept the loan in deferment as long as I could while waiting to see about the lawsuit with XXXX XXXX and also was talking with Great Lakes about my XXXX. My loan came up last fall and when I would call Great Lakes they would refer me to another number and the next thing I know I am getting 5 to 20 calls a day mostly recorded about student loan debt. Around mid XX/XX/XXXX I sent my first XXXX request via US mail as I did not have a computer. The phone calls got so bad that I really cant answer my phone for fear that most are scams. They look like cell phone numbers. My understanding was everything was kind of in limbo because of the hold up on the XXXX XXXX XXXX. and it could take even a year. I had checked the box to have collections stopped etc. In XXXX I receive notice that my XXXX checks are being garnished over {$200.00} a month, my credit score dropped, and we were getting ready to purchase a home using my husbands VA loan but can not because they put me in the XXXX system. Thinking my application was pending the long XXXX system I never saw this coming. I wrote the XXXX and received a reply XXXX XXXX. They claim they sent me notice in XX/XX/XXXX. This is not true at all. I most definently would not have missed that. I do not think the USDOE understood my letter as really their response made no sense to me and really all they did was point fingers back to servicers and the XXXX. I redid the XXXX application on line XXXX XXXX. I wish I had kept track of EVERY conversation and communication I ever had. I personally experienced and was vocal about XXXX XXXX from the start, I experienced a good portion of the complaints proven against them in court myself. These were actually reasons I only ever attended the school after seeing one class into my second session that it was NOT going to be better. I have a HUGE issue with the government letting this loan go in my name at the time when they were already aware of what XXXX XXXX was doing and my credit at the time was beyond terrible. Furthermore they have made it impossible to take care of it. Great LAkes points me to USDOE, USDOE point me to Great LAkes or a XXXX servicer. I am XXXX but I am not listed as permanent and I have not filed for XXXX relief. I don't understand why this has gotten to this point. I want the garnishment stopped and the loan off my credit and out of the system. It is way more than myself that this effects. The government knew this school was defrauding me when I enrolled in the summer of XXXX. My intention was to try to better myself and it has done nothing but the opposite.

Complaint: I have student loans through Great Lakes Educational Loan Services. On XX/XX/2019, I submitted a custom payment ( on top of my monthly due of {$700.00} ) to pay off the balance of a loan ( token 25 ) in the amount of {$1100.00}. This money was misallocated and divided across my other loans. On XX/XX/XXXX, I tried to pay off the balance of Loan # 25 again, along with another loan ( token 19 ) in the amounts of {$650.00} ( for # 25 ) and {$280.00} ( for # 19 ). I have proof of these requests in my account, however, the payments were still missallocated and distributed to other loans. This is causing me a lot of stress as I want to pay off my loans and stop adding interest but they aren't allowing me to do that.

Complaint: Im a single my of XXXX kids. One childs dad is deceased, I was In a bad car accident 7 years ago and an on XXXX! My XXXX year old was diagnosed with XXXX in XX/XX/2017 and had a major XXXX month after. I have loads of bills to pay just to keep food, house, car clothes and ect. My son goes to XXXX XXXX every month for XXXX which is a 2 hr drive there then 2hr back home gas I pay get no help to pay for food or gas! Im just struggling and I just need this one time to be forgiven for my loan thats all I ask! Im trying. Complaint: Hi, I have student loans with My Great Lakes. Their website says that they offer statements in PDF form, although the only way they are capable of doing that is through the mail. I requested past statements on CD 1 year ago, and they sent them. Almost 4 months ago, I again requested past statements on CD. They gave me endless reasons of why they are capable of doing so, but refuse to do so. And then, recently, they decided to stop all paper communication in the mail, despite clearly acknowledging in writing that they would continue paper statements, send past statements on CD, and send future statements in both paper and CD Format. So now, perhaps as retribution, I have neither paper nor PDF statements. The only email with a name was signed XXXX, from Customer Experience Response Team.

Complaint: I recently spoke to a rep to lower my payment and made it clear with a break down of my bills : mortgage, daycare, utilities, auto, insurance, groceries and XXXX children I could not afford payments over {$150.00}. I was told my payment would not be over {$150.00}. I just received a notice today that my payment will be {$230.00} and now my balance is over {$60000.00}. Mind you, I didnt borrow over {$30000.00}. I am not even sure how its over {$60000.00} But this is a nightmare. I can not afford this. It will cause me hardship. I am the sole earner in my home. I have emergencies that come up. I can not struggle. I dont want to struggle. I asked for payments that would be comfortable but my requests were clearly ignored and now I am up at XXXX feeling stressed, exhausted and defeated. Complaint: In XXXX, I started the application process for the Teacher Loan Forgiveness with Great Lakes. From that time on, they sat on the paperwork and did not tell me of any issues timely or process. Then, they said it was just all illegible. Then, I resent the paperwork and they said there was a section that was completed incorrectly even though it was completed as requested. Although I applied just for Teacher Loan Forgiveness and repeatedly notified Great Lakes that I did not want to go into forbearance as I just wanted to continue to pay my loans at the same amount under the same payment structure I agreed to at the time of graduation in the exit counseling and just have the Teacher Forgiveness portion of $XXXX applied toward principal when received, they continued to put my loan on three occasions into loan Forgiveness although both in writing and over the phone to several supervisors including XXXX, I specifically told I did not want this to happen and explained as above what I did what to happen as far as application to principal when received and continuing same payments schedule. After numerous calls, many recorded, complaints filed with the company in writing and written email message correspondence over the past 7 months, the forgiveness was finally applied in XXXX. However, they lowered my payment schedule and changed the payment date which was not what was requested. On XXXX, XXXX I sent another email and complaint to the company and then they did something to my account where instead of an approximately $XXXX balance, it is showing $XXXX balance and $XXXX past due although I have never been past due on an account EVER! I can attach a copy if you need it. Upon seeing this last night, I called and spoke to XXXX, a supervisor, who just continued to tell me that my account had been flagged for a routine account review and this whole situation had nothing to do with that review and that his system was not showing me delinquent although it was all over their website that I was and needed to make a payment IMMEDIATELY!

Complaint: I received poor information that was not in my best interest that was used to manipulate me into a worse financial situation. Illegal practices that were not in my best interest Follow the paper trail on Great Lakes End. They advised be into forbearance instead of an income based loan where the government was picking up the interest. They gave bad information and with held information that ultimately led to a higher principal which caused the interest portion to go up to the point that the government help was no longer covering the majority of it thus increasing my principal even more as I was told it would accrue on the side and not be tacked on.My documentation is that no common person would choose to add money onto their principal that leads to a higher interest payment when they have the option of an income based repayment where their income is showing XXXX. I went from XXXX to almost XXXX in debt because of this manipulation.

Complaint: i attended XXXX university back in XXXX, i received a loan from Great Lakes student loans. i took off one semester when i tried to re-enroll the school was closed no more XXXX College at the time i didn't think to much of it until XX/XX/XXXX when XXXX XXXX , XXXX garnished my entire income tax. The FDCPA protect consumers against pre-judgement garnishments. Also seeing as though the school closed in XX/XX/XXXX and my entire income tax was garnished on XXXX XXXX if the school was already closed then the collection agency should have known, thus information should have been provided via letter, email, phone call, etc no attempts were made to contact me. i feel this has been a very unjustified way to do business by the Federal Government and its education branch im am seeking to recover my refund and plan civil suite for damages in the amount of {$10000.00} plus the {$5200.00} that was garnished do to fraudulent practices and misrepresentation of the truth
