Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt is not yours
Complaint: On XX/XX/12 I applied and was rejected due to FCO reporting FALSE information. I contact the supposed creditor and they could NOT validate my information. I emailed FCO over 20 times and have yet to receive a response. I called them with the original creditor on the phone and they also spoke without me on the phone, but yet nothing has been done! These frauds are causing me emotional and financial trauma due to their fraud! They are also REFUSING to provide me with the information they have.. instead insisting that I send them information.. These fraudsters just want my real info so that they can adjust in their system! how can you have a different social than the original creditor?? THAT'S BLATANT FRAUD

Debt is not yours
Complaint: When I left XXXX XXXX apartments the property manager told me that they had already rented my apartment and said I don't owe any lease termination fees or any additional months of rent. She told me I owed nothing. I never received any bills from XXXX XXXX or anything else and suddenly this appears on my credit report from Fair Collections and Outsourcing and has made a huge negative mark on my credit. I do not owe XXXX XXXX anything and this debt is invalid and not mine.

Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: The original debt was part of a court case in DC XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX LTB XXXX. It resolved around landlords accusation of rent owed and tenants countersuit of discrimination based on XXXX orientation and disabity, plaintiff not providing a safe environment and other issues. The case was originally settled and I have in my possession a letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX, the original creditor, dated XX/XX/XXXX stating that rent was paid up to date. The case was then dismissed by the original creditor between XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX. There was no additional court filings by the original creditor and neither myself or my attorney 's have heard from the original creditor since. In XXXX of XXXX, I learned of a collection on my credit report from FAIR COLLECTIONS AND OUT. I had not received anything from them prior to this discovery. I filed a dispute with XXXX XXXX and apparently Fair Collections provided proof that the debt was accurate. If they in fact have documentation stating so, it is fraudulent. Again, the court case surrounding this debt was dismissed by XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX never contacted myself or my attorney 's after the dismissal. Any claim of debt owed to XXXX XXXX XXXX would require specific documentation mailed with a itemization of supposed debt, allowing myself to dispute any claim, per DC Landlord/Tenant Laws. The account at Fair Collections, opened XX/XX/XXXX is only approximately 30 days after the original court case was dismissed. This short time would not provide the time for any legal procedure for the claim of debt owed and response, if such a claim had actually been received. I have received nothing from the original creditor or from Fair Collections and Out regarding any supposed debt owed.

Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Account status incorrect
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I moved from a apartment complex called XXXX XXXX. Upon moving out I was advised I owed XXXX dollars. Two years later approximately I received an alert from XXXX XXXX, advising me I had a collection item on my credit upon research I found FCO had put a collection item on my report. I immediately contacted both the leasing office and apartment complex to find out why I the debt was not communicated with me as per my consumer rights. No answer was given, instead I was told if i paid {$150.00} it would be removed. I obliged due to the amount and as I wanted the item removed. I am sad to say its XX/XX/XXXX and up to todays date FCO has not removed the item as their previous rep advised me ; and I am being denied credit due to this delinquency. Which lenders are citing as a reason to deny me.

Complaint: Upon pulling my credit reports, I noticed a company, Fair Collections and Outsourcing, placed an account in the amount of {$3100.00}. I disputed this information as I thought it was inaccurate. After receiving the validation the sent. I reached out again to inform them that this was not my account. The company never responded and the validation didn't have any proof of signature or identification that matched mine. I'm unclear if it is a company mistake. I believe this is identity theft and would like this promptly removed from my credit files. This account is hindering my credit health.

Written notification about debt

Debt collection: Other debt

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: I received a collection notice in the amount of {$1400.00} USD from Fair Collections Outsourcing located at XXXX XXXX XXXX # XXXX, XXXX, MD XXXX on behalf of XXXX XXXX in XXXX, Michigan. I received this notice by mail at my residence in NY on XX/XX/2019. I responded by phone on XX/XX/XXXX to get more information about the collection, at which time I confirmed the correct mailing address of my residence in New York. I did not believe the amount of collection was correct and mailed a letter indicating dispute of this amount on XX/XX/2019, as is within my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. FCO was obligated to verify the debt before reporting the collection to my credit agency, but did not do so. A representative of FCO, XXXX, told me in a telephone conversation on XX/XX/2019 that the collection was reported to the credit bureaus on XX/XX/XXXX. This is less than the 30 days allotted for consumer dispute. In a recent telephone call with FCO a representative indicated that the verification letter that they sent was mailed to an address where I do not reside in CT, rather than my updated address which was given in XXXX. FCO proceeded to report the collection and failure of payment in the amount of {$980.00} to the credit bureaus without providing me with adequate verification in response to my collection dispute. {$980.00} is the correct amount of the collection, which was paid on the same day as I was made aware of the revised debt. As a result, my credit score fell significantly. Upon contacting FCO to notify them that their practices were in violation of the FDCPA they refused to delete the erroneous collection report that was forwarded to the collection bureau. I believe that it is injurious and malicious to have reported my collection before the 30 days that is allotted for a dispute, attempting to correct an amount grossly larger than the true debt, and refusing to correct a mistake that was reported to the credit bureau.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 the company called my work phone after I had requested them not to in a previous phone call last month. I filed a complaint after that phone call for threatening language about my job. They lied about the transcript. And now they have called my work line again, knowing it is a work line and is not private. It is a shared phone line located on a coworkers desk in a roomful of people.

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Other debt

Debt was paid
Complaint: This company reported on my credit without first sending me a notification in the mail or giving me a chance to validate or dispute. I didn't find out until it had already been on there for over 6 months. I send a dispute to all 3 credit bureaus, it came back verified. So I requested a Debt Validation from the collection agency. They were not able to properly validate that the balance was accurate, that the contract was accurate or that they owned the debt. But they still kept it on my credit. I've now disputed it with the credit bureaus 4+ times and disputed it directly with the collector 4+ times and nothing has been resolved. I do not owe any debt, this is for an apartment that I moved out of and I paid in full. Any additional charges are not charges that are legally able to be charged or that can be shown to be 100 % accurate. They are charging interest on a debt that isn't even owed, how is this legal or possible? I was denied for a home loan and for a rental property because of this inaccuracy. This is willful non-compliance.
