Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Complaint: On or about XX/XX/XXXX, I noticed several pending charges on my Discover card account. I immediately called Discover to report these as a fraud. Discover says these charges were made by my youngest son and that I authorized him to be a user on the card in XX/XX/XXXX. I dispute that narrative. They claim this authorization was made via a XX/XX/XXXX phone conversation with Discover customer service. Discover 's fraud investigation admits they have not listened to the recording of this conversation but is holding me responsible for these charges citing that I said I don't recall ever adding my son to my card as reason enough to make me pay for them. Further, they refuse to listen to for themselves or share the recording with me. They are demanding I file criminal charges against my son or pay for the fraudulent transactions.
I had to pay an attorney to subpoena the recording from Discover but to date, they have not produced the alleged recording yet they refuse to put any hold on the account and are demanding payment for the fraudulent transactions.
Discover is using unfair tactics to force me to pay a fraudulent debt that is not mine. Further, they are deliberately damaging my perfect credit by submitting negative information to the credit bureaus about these fraudulent charges.
I'm nearly XXXX years old and have always paid my bills. I did not authorize anyone to use my account and if Discover has any evidence to the contrary, they need to immediately produce such evidence before demanding I pay or damaging my credit.
This type of practice is unconscionable and Discover should be severely sanctioned for such practices. If they are doing this to me, It is likely they are targeting many other consumers with these same tactics.

The law stalest that i must receive a Written Notification About Debt The law : Within five days of initially contacting you, the collector must send written notice of the debt that includes : The amount of the debt The name of the original creditor to whom the debt is owed A statement describing your right to dispute the debt. Discover card never got in contact with me about the Tender of Payment that was submitted to them in fact they closed my account with the credit bureaus causing my credit to go down for a debt that was paid in full. They did so without my consent or acknowledgement, they did not notify me that they were closing my accounts yet they continue to send me bills through the mail. What did you discover do with my money? Why are they still billing me for a debt that is paid in full? Why is Discover debt collectors attempting to call my phone for a debt that is already paid. Why was my account not credited?
By law if the Tender of Payment is declined or rejected it must be returned to me along with legal and lawful reasons why they can not accept payment of said type. If it is not returned it is implied that the payment was tendered and received and they collected from the US Treasury and or at Any Federal Reserve Bank. It is left to be implied due to the amount of time given to said company/bank which is well passed the five day time to respond. Attached are the FDCPA laws.

This debt is in dispute and can not be reported until validated and verified but such was stated that they would report to XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX and others if i didn't make a payment. When they do, they cant reveal the debt without verification and validation, and there are limits on repeated calls nonetheless the call persist.

As per the terms of the contract this shall serve as my notice of change in terms of contract, cancelling and or suspending any acceleration penalties and paying the US government debt obligation for value through acceptance pledging an assignment in full.
Rather it has been over [ 36 ] thirty six days and nothing has posted as paid tendered or discharged and this disables me XXXX XXXX XXXX by way of doing business employment and living free. I have the United States Post Office signed forms which is the delivery proof which is undeniable, and therefore the payment was received on time and is not late, as well the payment format was never returned to me. Charged too much interest
Complaint: They add interest charges that were already on the previous monthly statement and paid to the cash advance due next month. They essentially charge it twice.
The total cash advance due each month goes up. There has not been any more cash advances taken. The interest charged has been paid but the total amount due goes up.
This should not be happening.

Charged too much interest
Complaint: Since 2000 Ive had a 26.99 % APR on my discover credit card. Ive addressed this issue several times with Discover. Ive been given a 1 year promotion of up to {$5.00} in addition to paying over {$100.00} more than my minimum payment. I recently complained to the XXXX. The response was a snarky work with our specialist to help pay down your credit card and a 4 % decrease to 22.99 % as the best they can do at this time. My conversations with the executive office revealed the ineptitude of their process and lack of understanding. Stating their policy of which I cant view, was taken into consideration. Im absolutely dumbfounded that a good standing card holder of 20 years and an XXXX military Soldier with a limited income can not receive anything better than a 4 % decrease considering Ive paid thousands of dollars to Discover through interest. Ive always paid over my minimum payment and yet I am still treated as a student with zero credit.

Card was charged for something you did not purchase with the card
Complaint: My Discover Credit Card was stolen and used at various retailers on XX/XX/2018 at the stores XXXX, XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, and XXXX which totaled to the amount of {$4400.00}. I quickly reported the issue to Discover who then gave me a temporary credit while they investigated the case. Initially, they stated that I had provided all I needed to provide, but I was then contacted in XXXX by Discover with them requesting a police report. I filed a police report with the XXXX XXXX Georgia Police Department and forwarded the information to Discover who stated that they would contact the Police and get their investigation completed. I was contacted in XXXX by Discover stating that they were unable to verify the police report information when they contacted the Police Department and were requesting I help get that contact information relayed. I contacted the Police department and received a new police report number which I forwarded to Discover in XXXX along with an entire copy of the police report by fax. Discover again contacted me in XXXX and stated that they were unable to get in contact with the department, so I contacted the department again which gave me a new number to send to Discover. After sending the information to Discover in early XXXX, I contacted Discover for a followup on XX/XX/XXXX whom stated that they did not receive a callback from the police department after leaving a message, so they left liability of the fraudulent charges in my name. I requested they call the police department with me on the line so we could get this dispute resolved, but I was told that they would not do that as they felt they had performed due diligence already into the matter even though they have never actually been in contact with the Police Department of the 5 ongoing months of this dispute and Investigation. I have done my best to work with Discover and complete any actions they requested on my part while they are not doing theirs.

Debt was already discharged in bankruptcy and is no longer owed
Complaint: On going collection since XXXX. Received collection calls & letters regarding a Discover Bank card ( I was an authorized user and my son XXXX XXXX was the account holder ). I responded with a Cease & Desist letter as well as a Verification/Validation letter requesting proof ; such as application with my signature to the law firm handling the account, XXXX XXXX XXXX. They provided a copy of the application and a recent statement of the account. The application only has one applicant and one signature XXXX XXXX. I responded with a letter advising the application does not show my name or signature and that again I was an authorize user and according to the credit law I am not liability for repayment. In addition, the account holder filed Bankruptcy and was discharged XX/XX/XXXX. I provided proof of the Bankruptcy. XXXX XXXX XXXX filed a lawsuit against me for the Discover Bank account on XX/XX/XXXX. I received a copy of the lawsuit where the Proof of Service claims I was served XX/XX/XXXX at my son 's home, which I use as a mailing address. I am not a XXXX female as stated on the proof of service and I was in the state of Idaho in XX/XX/XXXX. I am retired and I travel from California, Idaho, and Hawaii. I have been dealing with this issue far too long. I have sent countless proof that I am not liable for this debt, proof the law firm sent me as per the Verification/Validation letter yet they still continue to violate the FDCPA, FCRA, and FTC laws. I sent a Certified Letter in XX/XX/XXXX summarizing this issue as well as requesting to file a Motion to Dismiss with Prejudice since I am not the responsible party and to provide proof of the matter.

Problem with fees
Complaint: Since I am an XXXX year old man, it became apparent I needed to start getting my affairs in order. I have had a Discover card since 2008. I have carried a fairly high balance. recently I discovered they have been charging me {$79.00}. a month for something called Payment Protection. I called to discuss it with them. It has been on my account for years. I don't keep statements so I can't determine how much I have paid but it must be thousands. The lady on the phone quickly offered to refund me about {$500.00}. which was for the last 6 months. I ask to have it all refunded be got nowhere. The 6 month refund totaled some {$480.00} on the fees plus {$30.00}. of interest. Wow, they charge interest on the fees. Anyway, in researching on line I determined Discover has been fined and required to refund some XXXX XXXX to customers. Wow, guess I missed out. I have sent the payoff of my credit card to Discover. I would very much like to get those fees back.
