Problem with fees
Complaint: In XXXX I signed up for a Discover credit card account and was unknowingly enrolled in a payment protection plan. Unfortunately, today, XX/XX/XXXX, I finally realized I have been paying for this plan for almost 10 years. I was not, until today, informed of this program, it's supposed benefits or that it would continue to charge me fees over the life of the account. I was not notified after lawsuits were filed and refunds processed. I have moved 6 times since opening the account and unfortunately never received a notice regarding these fees. I have not used this program, nor did I ever intend to. Looking through online statements from XX/XX/XXXX to current day, I have been charged {$1900.00} please see the XXXX sheet attached with amounts and dates. This total does not include anything from prior to XXXX as I do not have access to those statements online.
I called customer service today immediately after identifying these unsolicited charges to cancel. They advised me they would be able to refund the past six months fees which totals {$73.00}. This is such an insignificant amount compared to what I've paid over almost 10 years of being a loyal XXXX customer and it is entirely unacceptable.

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: I am the cosigner on a loan and receive statements from Discover Student Loans. I did the math on a recent statement and found that the actual interest rete being assessed was 10.768 % while the statement had an interest rate of 8.365 % listed. Also the information that is given to the student that is paying the loan back is different than the information given to me and the effective interest rate is higher than the published rate on that statement as well Can they get away with this deception?

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I contacted Discover to advise me about a purchase made with their card, to the company XXXX XXXX, because I was not satisfied with the merchandise. They told me to contact the supplier to try to resolve the situation. I contacted him and asked him to return the money and send to pick up the merchandise.
On XX/XX/2018, Discover sent me a text message, related to a transaction I was making with my company card. The same was referring to the remaining payment of the merchandise mentioned above, with which I was not satisfied. I called Discover to avoid them processing the transaction, because I had not authorized it. After explaining the situation of that transaction and having talked with two different people, nothing was resolved and the transaction was not canceled. I put the two transactions on dispute but Discover fails against me.

Credit card company isn't resolving a dispute about a purchase on your statement
Complaint: I have a dispute that Discover have not resolved. A partial amount was credited back to my account in the amount of {$380.00} from the merchant. This is only XXXX out of a XXXX dispute that was in favor of the Merchant by Discover back in XX/XX/XXXX. I did not authorize this refund for half of the amount of my XXXX when my secondary insurance was never billed by the provider. I rightfully do not owe any money to this provider with two covered insurance policies. My claims are currently under investigation with my insurance provider 's, and I do not owe anything to this provider as I was told meaning the {$750.00}.
I was also told that my refund will be in the form of a check by the provider. However a Partial refund of {$380.00} was put on my discover account without my consent. I requested for Discover to return the funds back to the merchant because I was told my funds will be in a form of a check, and that's what I want. I do not want this provider to have anymore access to my Discover credit card. Discover has refused my request. Please see attachments.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: I received a letter in early XX/XX/XXXXfrom Discover saying they had recalculated my loan terms. Before this letter, on loan ending in XXXX, I had 118 months of payments left, and the monthly payment amount was {$140.00}. With no prompting or reason whatsoever, Discover changed my repayment term on this loan to 22 months, increasing my monthly payment to {$650.00}. Additionally, Discover increased my interest rates on all of my loans ( from 4.5 % on two of them to 4.75 % and from 4.0 % on the other two to 4.25 % ). I have never been a single day late on a payment and did not request that any changes be made to my account. This letter came out of nowhere. I called Discover on XX/XX/XXXX, and was placed on hold for a total of about 25 minutes while the agent claimed she was trying to figure out what happened. Ultimately, she said she would call me back. She called back later and left a voicemail which I returned immediately, only to be unable to reach the original agent. I was again placed on hold for a total of about 20-25 minutes, and the agent ultimately told me the problem had to be sent to " another department '' and said she would call me back XX/XX/XXXX at around XXXX MST. She never called me back.
I also sent a message through my secure messaging center with Discover, only to receive a non-response which basically cut and pasted what was written in the letter which increased my monthly payment on loan XXXX from {$140.00} per month to {$650.00} per month, and increased all of my interest rates. My master promissory note ties my interest rates to the prime rate, and the prime rate has not changed since XX/XX/XXXX. After the XX/XX/XXXX rate change, Discover promptly increased my interest rates on my accounts, so the XX/XX/XXXX rate change was already reflected in my account when they again increased my interest rates in XX/XX/XXXX. I asked Discover why my interest rates were changed and they claimed it was because of a change in the prime index rate effective XX/XX/XXXX. There was no change in the index rate in XX/XX/XXXX. Their statement that the prime rate increased was a flat lie.
Additionally, last summer, I accidentally made two payments instead of one, and asked for a refund of one payment. Discover misallocated the payment they did not reverse, and it took 3 months for Discover to fix the problem -- and they never reverted my interest rates to the original rate. I believe they did not apply as much as they should have to principal over that time frame, collected too much in interest, and increased my interest rates in violation of the master promissory note.
My account has always been kept in good standing, and I did not request or otherwise do anything that should have prompted a change in my repayment term or an increase in the interest rates on my loans. I believe Discover has engaged in fraudulent activity on my account in an attempt to collect more money than is due in interest charges, and to collect far more than is presently due by accelerating the repayment term in violation of the master promissory note.

Complaint: I have been a victim of identity theft back in XX/XX/2010, and someone opened a Discover Bank Account in my name fraudulently. I have disputed this account with XXXX numerous of times and they still have not blocked/removed this account from my credit report. They did one time in XX/XX/2018 but reappeared back on my XXXX credit file in XX/XX/2019. I am very upset because XXXX is violating the FCRA of reporting fraudulent information on my credit report. I have given them a police report, an identity theft affidavit proof of identity documents. Also, Discover Bank keep verifying this account as accurate, which I am filing a complaint against them as well. I am very dissatisfied with XXXX because they are not taking this matter serious, and it is affecting my credit score rating with XXXX, which is hindering me from obtain credit with favorable interest rate. Please have XXXX to remove/block the Discover Bank ( Charged-Off ) account ending in XXXX from my XXXX credit file.

Other problem
Complaint: To whom it may concern, on XX/XX/XXXX I sent an email to the Executives Office of Discover regarding a late payment they are reporting on my credit report. In this email I explained in great detail that in XX/XX/XXXX I was hospitalized and diagnosed with XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX of both XXXX. I was XXXX over two dozen times the previous month before being diagnosed. I was out of work and on heavy XXXX medication. I was not sure if I would survive. I requested that Discover look into the late payment because I thought I had paid the bill but could not be sure due to the circumstances. I requested that discover consider extending a goodwill offer for this one payment. On Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX I received a letter stating they could not reverse the late payment report. Because of the short time between the time I sent the email and the time I received a response, I couldn't help but believe that my account had not even been looked into nor my circumstances be taken into consideration. On XX/XX/XXXX, I sent another email to the CEO and received an additional letter by mail on XX/XX/XXXX, stating they already responded to my request. On XX/XX/XXXX I followed up with an email again further explaining that I am in the process of purchasing an house and that the payment in XX/XX/XXXX was beyond my control giving my medical condition. I am Anyone who has ever been affected by XXXX or has a family member affected by it, knows that it is a life or death situation. I received an email back from XXXX on Monday XX/XX/XXXX which was an automated response/copy and paste of the generic letter I received in the mail. My problem is that Discover 's mission statement states they " Our mission is to help people spend smarter, manage debt better, and save more to achieve a brighter financial future. '' If this is the case then penalizing a member for enduring a life or situation that was beyond her control hardly is in line with the mission. Requesting that this late payment be redacted is not outside of their scope of capabilities as I explained to XXXX as my elderly mother who has been a card holder for over a decade underwent XXXX XXXX and was XXXX for months and missed several payments and she requested a goodwill and it was granted. She was also offered an increase on her credit limit to XXXX despite her telling them she was on a fixed income and very sickly. This is unfair and discriminatory practices by Discover with no concern for the credit worthiness of the consumer.

Problem using a debit or ATM card
Complaint: Discover bank has denied to review My Civil Complaint with supporting documents. Discover bank has refused to supply me with the contact info for their legal department to serve them a Civil Complaint being filed with the clerk of courts. Various attempts requesting this information and also sending the Civil Complaint to their Utah headquarters has been ignored. My civil action is for the bank allowing {$5900.00} to be stolen from my account without noticing the very unusual activity for my account. Bank has denied the claim and ignore my Civil Suit with supporting documents. Discover Bank seems to think they are above the law. I have the tracking info and signature that my complaint was received in Utah office. I will use this to present to the Judge to help support Discover ignores civil actions as if they are nothing.
