Complaint: I am very upset with Discover as both myself and my family have been harassed by this company. My bill for this month was due on XXXX XXXX, but I did not get paid until today, XXXX XXXX, so I was going to be late on my payment and have to pay a late fee. This is an understandable situation considering I am in the process of moving so I did not have my usual extra savings to cover the bill. Unlike other banks who respect their customers and would wait a considerable amount of time to start repeatedly calling to collect the money, Discover Card was blowing up my phone non-stop with multiple calls from them daily within the first week of my payment being past due. Although that is upsetting, that is not my ultimate concern. My privacy has been violated by Discover cards and their employees because I received multiple calls from my mother ( who does not live with me, who I do not have listed on my Discover card as an authorized user, and who 's phone number I have never disclosed to Discover card ) telling me Discover was also harassing her, calling my parent 's house multiple times a day impeding my fathers business calls in order to try and receive money for this payment, that at this point was n't even XXXX weeks late. Does that seem a little ridiculous to any one else? Because I am completely appalled at the fact that they somehow found my mothers number, and without my consent, called her to receive money that she does not owe. There should have been absolutely none of my information disclosed to someone who is not on my account. Even if they somehow obtained my parents personal number, there is no reason that when my mother answered the phone, again someone who is not listed as an authorized user on my account, that she should have even been told that my account had been over drafted and had not been paid for that month. Then my XXXX mother who has enough financial issues of her own felt obligated to pay this past due amount ( payment made on XXXX XXXX, 2015 ) to avoid being continuously called and harassed by the Discover company. Overall, I am very displeased and angered by this occurrence and I would definitely not recommend Discover to anyone. My privacy has been violated by this company, and both my parents and myself have been continuously harassed after a bill that was due less than XXXX weeks ago. I am going to be canceling my card once it is paid off and sticking with my primary bank XXXX. I am looking for a resolution to this unfortunate situation

Complaint: I recently filled out the required forms to transfer IRA CD 's from Discover Bank to a different bank. The instructions that were sent to Discover Bank instructed them to perform these transactions " at maturity ''. They liquidated the accounts immediately ( XXXX XXXX, 2015 ) and an early termination penalty was charged. Since that time I have called Discover multiple times and the fiasco is still not resolved. This is after working multiple days with a supervisor, XXXX, at XXXX. Discover Bank has VERY POOR customer service and does not properly train and supervise their employees. Thanks for nothing XXXX for your association with Discover Bank.

Complaint: Hello, My name is XXXX XXXX and recently I received a large envelope from DISCOVER with a card inside saying " PROOF '' and inviting me to apply for a personal loan " Because of my Excellent Credit record '' ( see attached copy ) but when I applied on the internet, I received a deny note!
This is wrong to try to get all my personal info by pretending that they know about my credit history and convince me that I will get the loan if I apply and then they deny me.
This also could damage my credit score. and I do n't appreciate that either.

Complaint: I have good credit and pay my bill on time. For some unknown reason, Discover card decided that they do n't want me as a customer anymore and canceled my account. I think this will adversely affect my credit. From what I found out online, they seem to have targeted mostly XXXX for the account closure. I think I deserve an honors answer as why they have decided to close my account.

Complaint: For 8 months I worked with Discover Home Loans on a mortgage. They approved my initial request, locked in the rate and gave me a " close on time guarantee. '' At one point I asked to increase the amount of the loan ( when I was worried my house would n't sell before the new house was done ). I was told that increase was approved. Then my house sold and I requested that they go back to the original amount approved. That was 2 months before closing on my new house. They continually assured me that my mortgage was approved. Before XXXX XXXX, 2015 they knew the closing date of XXXX XXXX, 2015. They failed to close and my family was left without a place to live. On XXXX XXXX they failed to close because their paperwork was not ready. On XXXX XXXX they failed to close because there was an error in the amount of the loan. On XXXX XXXX they failed to close because they had the wrong zipcode on their paperwork. On XXXX XXXX they failed to close because they could n't get their work done. On XXXX XXXX I borrowed from my retirement plan and settled on the new home -- because my family was left homeless by the " game-playing '' and failure to follow through of Discover Home Loans. I want everyone to know of the nightmare they put me through. I have extensive documentation to prove what I am saying. The settlement company said they have never seen a customer treated so badly. This was abuse and something should be done to stop them from making promises they ca n't keep. The " {$1000.00} guarantee '' that they will close on time is worthless because they only pay out if you stay with the abuse and close with them. It is a racket and should be stopped.

Having problems with customer service
Complaint: I have been enrolled back at XXXX XXXX University in the fall of XX/XX/XXXX. Recently, i have been harassed by Discover Student Loans for the last month. I have faxed in paperwork providing them with everything they needed. And yet I am still getting phone calls for payments. Furthermore, Discover is now reporting to the credit bureaus that I am late. At this point, Discover needs to get their act together to avoid me taking further action. I have been enrolled the entire time and my deferment should be valid with my planned graduation date being the XX/XX/XXXX.

Complaint: I have recently learned that my credit card issuer ( Discover ) provided my credit card number and expiration date to a merchant ( XXXX XXXX ) without my authorization. Had I not reviewed my monthly statement in detail, this charge would have been incurred unnoticed.
Since XXXX 2015, XXXX XXXX was attempting to automatically renew a subscription for a service purchased a year prior. They were unable to process the charge since my Discover card number changed the previous year ( number was stolen, new card was issued ). I contacted XXXX XXXX on XXXX to expressly request, in writing, that I wished to discontinue the once-purchased service. They acknowledged my request and said that after a time-out period the attempt to charge will cease and my account will reset.
However, on XXXX, after apparently XXXX attempts to charge my previous credit card number, Discover provided my new credit card number and expiration date to XXXX so that they could process my transaction. I was never informed of this action.
I do not view this as a lapse of XXXX since they considered that the issue would take care of itself once the charge failed to post after several attempts. But I have never heard of a credit card volunteering an individual 's credit card information to a merchant, or anybody, for any reason. I find this disturbing, whether it is under the guise of customer service or not.
I have since read, and been informed, that it is part of an " Account Updater '' service that appears to exist between merchants and the credit card issuer. This " Account Updater '' service applies to special " recurring '' charges, although these are not disclosed on monthly credit card statements, and the customer has no ability to opt out of the program. I asked my Discover rep on XXXX to opt me out of the program and to no longer disclose my credit card number to any merchant. I was told that this is not possible.
While there may be instances where this type of service benefits consumers, I find it remarkable that the consumer is not directly involved in making this decision. Instead, the agreement is made between a merchant and a credit card issuer. According to my Discover rep, the consumer authorization must be part of fine print agreements when a consumer purchases a merchant 's service, on a recurring basis only. I have not verified this, but I would certainly not agree to anything a merchant puts forth to indicate their ability to obtain updated credit card information other than directly from me.
Ultimately the protection and disclosure of a credit card number is an individual 's responsibility and right. As such, this program should begin with the consumer and should exist between the consumer and credit card issuer. The service, and use thereof, should have no bearing on recurring service agreements between consumers and merchants. While visibility and awareness of the program would be a vital first step, I would hope to see a restructuring that permits a consumer, as expected, complete authority of their credit card information.

Complaint: Per a credit report pulled in XXXX and disputed several accounts listed with all XXXX credit agencies, as the accounts were not even mine. Additionally, there was no social security number on file for XXXX of them, and there was also an invalid address attached to my credit reports for the state of Virginia and I have never lived outside of the state of Iowa in the XXXX years of my existence. When calling Discover the representative told me in XXXX that name on file was for a XXXX XXXX XXXX, that there was NO social security number captured from that person for the account AND when reporting the credit situation, they did n't know where to attach it so they put it on mine. These XXXX companies have attached information for someone named XXXX XXXX to my account since XXXX, which has impeded my ability to secure fair interest rates or even securing loans to purchase vehicles or a home. Lastly all XXXX of these companies informed me when calling in XXXX that my social security number was not even in their system, and upon formally disputing these items with the XXXX credit reporting agencies, it took over XXXX years and more than XXXX attempt to get these items removed from my credit report. Complaint: We heard a radio ad from a talent ageny in XXXX XXXX that was being hekd called The Event asking to bring your children for an audition. Would your child like to be a XXXX star? They sold us a sales pitch scam for {$4700.00} and are in no way affiliated with XXXX. I later went home and did some research finding out this company is a huge scam. I tried calling the number but it was a XXXX you 've won a {$100.00} XXXX XXXX gift card. I then faxed a certified letter saying I do not want their sevices and I would like a full refund. I received a letter stating they will not refund my money because it was past the XXXX day contract period but I can attend a later event for an extra {$1000.00}! I have written letters to XXXX district attorney offices and filed a complaint. XXXX in XXXX XXXX where this happened and in XXXX where this company 's stated their address was on the flyer we received. Neither received a response and the address is not valid. I also went to a small claims court free class and they suggested I sue my credit card company because it would be hard to find this company since it was all a scam. I contacted my credit card company and they have refused to help! They said you signed the contract but I tried to explaining it was all a scam and that I never received any services from this company at all and it 's fraud! They still refused to help. It is now a charge off on my credit. I also had the XXXX office write up a letter stating that I would be taking them to small claims court if they do not refund my money. I never received a response just like both attorney general offices who have tried to contact The Event. I have attempted to try to get this fixed for the past couple years but havent been able to contact this company at all. I would like to make a report against The Event and also Discover credit card company for not helping me when there is a reason they have the fair credit card act. I would like to find out if there is anything I can do to get this off my credit. I would others to be aware of this scam company!
