Complaint: I used my personal checking account to make a XXXX time payment to Discover on behalf of my son. Some months later Discover used my account information, which they saved, without my permission to debit my checking account with an e payment for my son 's account without my authorization. When contacted Disover stated they could not remove my account information until the charge was disputed and declined by my bank. Is it legal for Discover to store my information without my permission and refuse to remove it at my request.

Complaint: In XXXX, Discover notified me that they were going to replace my card due to a possible data breach that was not due to their system. I asked what vendor had the breach so that I could consider if any other action was needed on other credit cards or personal information. The response I got was that they could not release the vendors name. I did not feel that the explanation was adequate so I recently asked for clarification on the reason I could not get that information. I was again told that they could not release the information, but was not provided with the specific reason such as limited by law, company policy, or agreement with vendor. I want to know the reason for the limitation to understand if it is a legitimate reason or just words so I stop asking.

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: My loan payment was raised by {$130.00} dollars with no written notice by Discover Student Loans.
They are unwilling to work with me to reduce my payments, & say that if I do n't make full payments they will report me to a credit company. I always make my payments on time.
They have withdrawn funds my checking account without my consent & they admitted to doing it.
I am having so many issues with Discover Student Loans.

Complaint: I am hoping you can help me. I had a credit card with Discover years ago. Due to a divorce and relocation and severe loss of marital income I had to stop making payments in XXXX.
I have recently received a letter from the IRS siting funds I owe from a XXXX cancellation of debt from XXXX XXXX XXXX ( Discover Card ). I was only contacted by Discover a few times in regards to debt collection and that was within a year of my last payment. In NC there is a XXXX year statute of limitations on credit card debt and even the IRS sites an expiration of a non payment testing period as XXXX months. I am trying to dispute this with the IRS but getting information from Discover has proved to be difficult. I believe the XXXX form that Discover sent me should be for XXXX or XXXX, not XXXX. The debt the IRS is trying to hold me responsible for is too old and the credit card company should be held responsible and made to provide accurate information to the IRS.

Complaint: I applied for a " Discover IT '' credit card. and was approved, I sent in documents to prove my address and social security number and was told verbally that I was approved for a {$1000.00} credit line and my card would arrive in 7-10 day. so I wait a week and the card never shows neither does an decline notice. I checked back online after a two weeks for my application status only to get a message stating that I has been declined for the card and I would be getting a letter in 7-10 days. I 'm very confused as to why they would approved me then deny me for a credit card and why no denial letter was ever sent out. I sent them everything they asked for XXXX but I never received any correspondence from them after I think these are bad business practices and I ca n't help but think that is slightly discriminatory. My credit history is perfect never missed a payment on anything. So I really would like answers as to why I was approved then denied for a small credit line with no explanation

Complaint: I had Discover IT card since 2014.I found some charges which i did n't recognized. I called Discover customer service almost a week back. They transferred me to Fraud detection team who immediately closed my account and send me a new card. Within few minutes i understood what 's going on with my account - reached out to the merchant - who issued me the refund. I called Discover Fraud team another team in less than XXXX hours and asked them not to close my account and no need to send me a new card but they said they will make sure that i will get my new card soon. After XXXX or XXXX days - I got new card which was CHIP based. When i tried to activate that card - but i was asked to call during east coast timing only as DFS fraud team works only in XXXX ... i keep on trying for XXXX days ... and when i got hold of them, i was told destroy the card and i will be getting another card. This time i got the new Discover Card via XXXX - extremely urgent shipment after XXXX days. Called upon after XXXX day to activate it. This card was different from my previous cards as it was ending in XXXX ( my old account was ending in XXXX ). But since XXXX days - they ( DFS ) is not able to find out whether the new card belongs to me or not? Finally today morning - they told me that they will be sending me another discover card by emergency shipment. Almost XXXX hours in total i have spent on this matter during last 10 days. I need to work with their human operators only as the website is not working at all to activate my card. During last XXXX years - I have got my Discover card part of fraud almost XXXX times ... i do n't think Discover is doing enough to secure and safeguard Customer 's account very well. Moreover their overall handling of this issue ( re-issuing new card ) is very very shaky.

Complaint: I initiated a transfer of funds from two CD IRAs I had at Discover Bank to my XXXX account as I am close to retirement. XXXX submitted the requests within the grace period following the maturity of the CDs. I received over several months numerous calls from Discover Bank stating the transfer paperwork was wrong. My financial advisor contacted Discover, made whatever changes they required, and resubmitted the documents to their IRA department. After several months of trying to get the CDs tranferred, during which time I continued to receive calls from Discover Bank saying the transfer papers were not completed correctly, I spoke with a supervisor on XXXX XXXX who, after researching my account, told me that Discover was calling me about the initial submission and that he had no record of subsequent submissions. As my financial advisor had recently resubmitted all the paperwork and sent it overnight, I insisted he look further. He told me that he did finally find the most recent paperwork, and that the phone calls I was receiving were in response to our initial submission. The transfer went through but Discover assessed me penalties for early distribution of funds in an amount in excess of {$1000.00} based on their contention that the money was transferred after the grace period. After numerous calls, during which I explained that Discover Bank was responsible for the delay ( something that the supervisor I spoke with admitted to ) they told me they would not extend any consideration to me and would not refund the penalty fees. In addition, they were unwilling to provide me with a copy of my initial contract in which they claim they informed me of their penalty policy. After researching reviews of Discover Bank, I see that many people complain of the exact same situation : Discover Bank failing to process transfers of money to other accounts, and assessing excessive fees for doing so. What I initially thought was incompetence I now strongly suspect is a deliberate strategy to delay transfers and then XXXX excessive fees.

Complaint: Since filing for mortgage assistance several years ago, my personal credit was wiped out starting with XXXX XXXX XXXX as my mortgage holder. The only credit card I currently have is Discover. I received a letter from them two months ago stating that they would not be renewing my card which expires in XX/XX/XXXX. I was fine with that. I have been paying XXXX the required amount for some time now. I was watching my Fico score ( which they provide for free ) go from XXXX to XXXX. I received an email today stating they were increasing my limit by {$800.00}. By doing so, it DECREASED my Fico back to XXXX. I never asked for this limit increase and why would they do this if their plan is to terminate my account?
I was not expecting my business to fail in XX/XX/XXXX nor was I expecting my signed XXXX contracts with my customers to fail. I believe this is a fraudulent tactic on the part of Discover ( who is tied to XXXX who also terminated all my other accounts ) to keep me from ever being able to rebuild my credit. I refuse to use their card again and will pay them off as quickly as possible.

Complaint: Years ago an old boyfriend put my name on his Discover credit card. I have never used his card or paid his bill or received a statement. He has recently filed a bankruptcy. He has contacted me because on his email billing statement they have removed his name and put mine. When he called them, they told him, " I opened the acct and put him as a signer and then telling him I called and had his name removed '', and then they wo n't talk to him saying it 's my acct. When I called them demanding they send me proof of where I signed to be responsible for his debt, they dodge the question, demand payment and refuse to send me this written proof. Can they really make me responsible for his debt? I am worried they are adversely affecting my credit score. Please help.

Complaint: discover card said I have to pay for a order I did not place XXXX. XXXX never sent out the furniture. discover card rep told me this. the furniture order was not in my name nor was it going to be delivered to my address. I do not have any authorize users on my accountdiscover card final decision was that I placed the order. XXXX has the furniture and {$1000.00} discover card paid them I explain to discover card that im XXXX years old and do not know too much about the internet I do have people that come to my house to help me with everyday living that has access to my personal information. I explain to discover card I did not give any one permission to use my card I also told XXXX when they called me I did not place an order. that should have been the end of it. because XXXX still had the furniture the order did have my billing address correct, phone and email correct. my name was not on the order and the delivery address was not my addressI have never charged anything on my discover card since I opened the account. there was no reason for me to look at my statement every month because I did n't charge anything on my discover card I tried to make out a police report but they theres nothing they can do because the furniture was never delivered

Can't decrease my monthly payments
Complaint: I have over {$200000.00} in existing student loan debt, both federal and private. I have been working XXXX jobs, 7 days a week, to try and get by and repay my loans as best I can. XXXX years post-graduation, I have NEVER missed a payment despite my monthly payments being over {$2000.00} combined.
I contacted Discover Student Loan, who services about {$85000.00} of my private student loan debt, because they advertise on their website that they have Repayment Assistance Programs for struggling borrowers. Several of the programs offer either reduced monthly payments or interest-only payments for a period of time.
I spoke with a very pleasant lady who understood my issue and wanted to help. She took my information and looked into " what programs I qualified for ''. She advised me, at this time, I do not qualify for any of the repayment assistance programs. I was n't sure exactly what she meant by this so I asked, what exactly would qualify me for the programs. She did not know, but simply that I did n't qualify.
I asked what, in the future, I would need to do or have done to me in order to qualify for the student loan assistance programs. She said that she did n't know but that I simply am not eligible despite not being delinquent on any payments now or ever.
I do n't understand what kind of game Discover is playing. If my situation is not the ideal one for the repayment assistance programs, I do n't know what is. I am being CRUSHED by student loan debt and, yet, I am doing everything in my power to not default or miss payments. I am trying to be a responsible borrower and live up to my end of the bargain, but the private student loan companies are making it very difficult. Defaulting on my loans becomes a more and more enticing option every day.
