Complaint: A couple of years ago I have discovered unauthorized charged on my Discover card, and have contacted Discover with hopes of resolving the issue. Discover shut down my card and nothing was resolved. I refused to pay the amount I did NOT authorize thus Discover sent this account to collections. This year I decided to clear negative items from my credit and contacted Discover with hopes to pay in lieu of them removing this account from my report. A few months later I received a statement from Discover stating that they have charged off this account but if I wish to pay it I should contact XXXX XXXX who is now collecting on this account ( see attached ). I have contacted XXXX and agreed on a payment plan. So far I have made a total of {$4400.00} to XXXX XXXX for Discover account however Discover is STILL reporting the outstanding FULL balance to all XXXX bureaus on my credit report continusly damaging my credit and claims NOT to have received any payments. However, XXXX states they have forwarded all payments to Discover ... After all this money paid none of the parties seem to know where the funds went and I still ca n't refinance my house due to this unresolved matter and Discover card being in dispute. Please help!!!

Complaint: I spoke to an account representative about an interest rate reduction. They offered me 16.24 % APR which I specifically asked if it was the best rate they had. They said yes. I manage my finances online using a number of bank aggregators who actively look for the best deals in banking, credit cards and loans. The advertised rate was significantly lower than the one I was given ( 10.99 % ). When I called to try and resolve this issue with them, they were dismissive and were not even open to the idea that mistakes can happen on their end. My credit has been above XXXX for the better part of a year, no significant debts or credit inquiries. If I do not qualify for prime I 'm not sure who would.

Complaint: For the past 3 months, I have been applying credit card from different banks and they all denied it. I signed up at credit karma to check my credit scored and I find out someone had used my social security to signed up credit card at Discover Bank. I called the bank to report the issue, they told me they will mailed me a report letter for me to sign and mail it back to them so that they can start their investigation. It 's been like 3 months now, no letter and I kept on calling them but they always tell me, they will mail it to me within a month but have n't received anything yet. The worst part is because they have my number now, they called me to inform me that I had taken credit card from them since XXXX XXXX, 2014 and I have n't made any payment yet. I want you to help me talk to them and resolve the issue so that, that thing will waive off from my credit report. Thank you

Complaint: Hi, Discover is engaging in false advertisement and tricky practices, taking customer for a ride by using the XXXX XXXX XXXX % cash back promotion. They say that they will give 10 % cash back on purchases made by XXXX pay. Seeing this consumers like me go to the stores which accept apply pay. At the checkout the XXXX does not work as the card is getting declined. The merchant shows that similar apple pay transactions work fine with other credit card companies. This problem is only because of discover. Already since I have waited so long in line I go ahead with the purchase and pay using manual swipe of the card. Also at the same time I call discover customer service and they confirm that problem is with them. Also they agree that they will compensate the customer for the lost cash back bonus. On subsequent follow up they do not agree to credit the bonus as per the promotion and only apply 1 time courtesy bonus of XXXX % which is way less the XXXX % promotional bonus. This is completely unethical and cheating.

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: Loans originated with XXXX for Private Student Loans for University of Colorado XXXX, CO beginning XX/XX/XXXX. There were a total of XXXX loans which were bundled together under the same account. The loans were sold to Discover and as of XX/XX/XXXX I began having repayment issues : i.e. lost payments, sending certified checks that were unaccounted for, no explanation as to how my money was being misguided, late fees, harassing phone calls to settle late fees, etc. I finally received a statement, XX/XX/XXXX which stuck out due to the contrasting difference of the letter head. This allowed for further investigation after noticing only XXXX of the XXXX loans were listed. Then I compared that statement with the previous statement and discovered that there was a completely different customer ID for these XXXX loans. The original customer ID contains Account XXXX with loans XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX. After contacting Discover Student Loans about this, multiple times, I was told that they had no idea where this mysterious account came from and they had no record of any such customer ID number and I need to talk to XXXX. However, the letter head and contact info is from Discover Student Loans with THEIR address. I am still in the dark about this additional customer ID number with was created with the incorrect number of loans, then how it mysteriously disappeared, yet my money was applied to that customer ID back XX/XX/XXXX. The beginning of a long drawn out domino effect which sent all of my original and true loans into default status. I sent the correct amount for the loans following that, yet I still consistently recieved past due notices of random amounts. When I questioned them about this they said it was n't applied right and I still owed them. I foolishly paid more money, yet have had no resolution. I stopped paying DSL as of XX/XX/XXXX as I do not know where my money is going. They will not sent me an itemized list of payments and how/where they were applied when received by their payment processing center. I was told that I need to get a remittance report from my bank showing I made payments. I even sent them copies of my bank statement as well as images of the checks, with THEIR stamp on the back, and they would not consider that sufficient proof that I was making payments. I not have my account going to collections because I refuse to pay until they tell me what happened with this mysterious account, how it was created, and why no one can give me information about this account. I need help with this situation as I have contacted everyone possible to resolve this with DSL. However, all I am given is a supervisor who will not provide a name of a superior officer of the student loan department. I was told that they do n't really have specific email addresses or contact numbers. Now I understand that the lawsuit is probably making it impossible to get the truth out of this financial institution. This needs to be stopped so they do n't ruin other peoples lives and financial history over their own selfishness to cheat their consumers out of their money.

Complaint: I graduated from XXXX University in XXXX this past summer and my student loans have come into repayment. I was able to find a full time position, outside of my field of study making $ XXXX a year. My Discover private student loan principal is $ XXXX making the payments on those alone over {$1700.00} a month. I am currently on the reduced payment plan but it only lasts 6 months, after this period defaulting looks like it could be my only option. Thus far, Discover Student Loans has been ridged and unwilling to offer any sort of long term solutions to make repayment of the loan affordable.

Discover is now blanket rejecting purchases above a certain amount4. Discover is requiring customers to retain receipts5. Discover does not have the requirement to keep receipts in the XXXX. This is a blatant attack on consumer privacy7. The burden of proof is shifted to the consumer, instead of the credit card company8. If Discover wants to exclude gift cards, they need to do it accurately and automatically, without the need of receipts being sent into Discover. if they want to exclude gift card purchases, they need to be able to do it automatically and accurately. The burden of proof does not fall on the consumer and we do not need to keep receipts. If they are unable to do this, then they should honor all XXXX Pay purchases with the bonus 10 %.

Complaint: Discover Card closed my account without my consent or notice. It is a credit card I kept active due to the higher credit limit on it, and it was one of my longer held accounts which has an overall affect on my credit score. I am extremely disappointed that credit companies are allowed to do this, knowing the way the credit scoring system is set up, and the detrimental damage it can cause to the consumer! This policy that these companies can use to close dormant accounts needs to be changed!
