Complaint: The issue was false advertising and " switch and bait '' practice. The company did n't address this issue in either of their responses. According to Press Release, there was no restriction to XXXX cashback earnings. A few weeks later, the terms and conditions added more restrictions and put the burden on consumers to provide receipts. This is not acceptable. I personally incurred financial losses for buying an XXXX and applying for a new Discover card. I needed the cashback promised to be added to my account.

Complaint: For many years now I have been paying my Discover credit card balance on time but recently decided to look into in more details, it seemed that little was applied to my principal, the worse is that I noticed for many years now the " BALANCE SUBJECT TO INTEREST RATE '' on purchases decreased while " BALANCE SUBJECT TO INTEREST RATE '' on cash advance has been increasing at much higher interest rate has increased month after month for many years since as far as XXXX ( Discover statements are not available past that year XXXX XXXX for me to assert with full certitude that the practice did not start at a earlier date ), in XXXX XXXX my cash advance balance was at {$1600.00} and it is now in XXXX XXXX at {$6900.00}. The cash advance as of XXXX XXXX was at {$0.00} and it has been at {$0.00} to this date in XXXX XXXX, so I am not quite sure how it is possible for a " BALANCE SUBJECT TO INTEREST RATE '' on cash advance to increase on that basis, on the other hand allow " BALANCE SUBJECT TO INTEREST RATE '' on purchases shifted/moved to " BALANCE SUBJECT TO INTEREST RATE '' to cash advance at a much higher rate all the sudden for years. The XXXX Card Act is very clear on the rules on payments allocations and for years it was not done putting us through financial distress for years now.

Complaint: Yesterday I received my credit card bill for last month and saw XXXX charges for completing and submitting my Federal income tax. While I have some problem with the deception XXXX XXXX used to have me pay to complete my taxes this year, after using them free for many years, I have no problem with using my Discover card to pay my taxes. First, XXXX has always used terms like " Easy, Fast, Free '' in promoting their service. This year they added charges, which I was n't aware of until well into the completion process. My real outrage comes in the third charge : paying a XXXX % " Convenience Fee '' to pay my taxes by credit card, through a third party in XXXX I might add. I do n't pay to use a credit card normally, and I was n't aware that such a charge would be forthcoming.
I would think the Federal government would be happy to accept credit card payments to avoid bounced checks and receive faster payments. They should probably be happy to pay a " Convenience Fee '' for such a benefit. Please look into this. Thank you. P.S. I do n't intend to ever use XXXX again, and I will certainly never pay a " Convenience Fee '' again.

Complaint: We became delinquent on a few of our accounts with Discover back in XXXX and then we made arrangements to have the amount deducted from our account since then and we have never missed a payment. We would call Discover each year and get an interest rate of XXXX for all the accounts. We trusted that they had done this and spent an hour going through this with them each time we called. Lo and behold we notice on our statement that the rates had gone up significantly. We called to ask for a different interest rate and they said there were no programs. Then we called again and again and they would say you need to call again next month. Finally after talking to several people they said they would send us a letter telling us why. We get this letter and it says RECENTLY we revoked your account ... We then called to see why and when did they revoke our account and they said back in XXXX??? Then during the conversation we realize that they had not reduced our rates all those times and we were paying them as if the rate was XXXX and it was not ( XXXX ) and we could have been paying them before other cards if we knew the rate was that high. This went on for several years and I found out that XXXX time they actually put the XXXX for XXXX account. We will never use Discover again. Of all our accounts that we owe from my husbands company going under during our XXXX XXXX we never had anyone treat us this way. NEVER, EVER USE DISCOVER.

Complaint: After 5 long arduous years, I finally managed to pay off my Discover card. Or so I thought. I contacted Discover to ask for the exact final amount, which I paid right then and there. I then asked to closed my account. I was transferred to " Account Retention '' where I spoke with another agent about closing my account. After listening to a litany of reasons why I should stay with Discover and keep my account open, I declined everything and asked ( once again ) to close my account. I was then told that I could n't do that ; that the account could n't be closed, only " inactivated. '' After several minutes of argument about that, and being told it was pretty much the only thing I could do, I had to accept this status. Little did I know that Discover 's version of " inactivated '' was very different from mine.
Fast forward a couple of months, and now I am receiving notices from Discover that I have pending charges for late fees and interest. You can imagine my surprise. While the charges are still small-ish, the principal of it all has angered me enough to contemplate legal action, which I do n't want to do.
I contacted Discover again, and expressed that I was not going to pay the charges due to their inherent lack of customer service, and their not following my initial request to close my account. I asked that they remove the charges, and stop contacting me going forward, otherwise I would take it as harassment.
I would like to know what type of recourse I have in this situation. I do n't want this affecting my credit score, and while the amount is small, I do n't want it suddenly exploding into something more significant due to them compounding costs. They really are crooks in my opinion, leaving me ( the customer! ) with little choice but to continue to pay them for something I did n't want in the first place! What can I do in this situation?

Complaint: In XXXX 2014, based on XXXX reporting, I received a 30-day late on my monthly loan amount of {$620.00} which was due on the XXXX of every month. At the time, my payments were being managed under the agreement of my debt collection company XXXX XXXX XXXX, who was responsible for drawing money out of my personal bank account and making payments directly to my creditors.
On XXXX XXXX, 2014, XXXX XXXX XXXX transmitted a {$620.00} payment towards my Discover Personal Loan debt. The payment was to be deemed 30-days late on XXXX XXXX. XXXX XXXX XXXX made the payment on the XXXX and Discover Loans did not recognize or process it until XXXX XXXX. When this happened, they deemed the payment as 30-days late even though it was transmitted to them on the XXXX.
After receiving the 30-day late on my credit report, both myself and XXXX did a XXXX call to try to resolve the matter but the Discover supervisor would not work with us at all. I have since paid off this {$25000.00} loan and I had never received a 30 day late accept for this XXXX and I feel that Discover had some error in it as their system did not recognize the payment until later than expected.

Complaint: My loan service company is Discover Student Loans. XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/2016, Discover made unauthorized withdrawals from my bank account without my permission and without actually crediting my loan with the money removed. XXXX the amount was {$130.00} and XX/XX/XXXX the amount was {$140.00}. I have attached screenshots of my bank account records as proof. When I asked them to return the money, they said they had no record of the transactions and asked for bank records, which I provided and I 've attached here. They rejected the bank records and said to check with my bank for a " remittance report. '' My bank did not know what that was, but still provided me with a more detailed record of the fraudulent withdrawals. I forwarded this information on to Discover and still have not gotten my money back. Discover basically stole almost {$300.00} from my bank account and is stonewalling any attempt by me to recover this money. My bank was able to reverse the XX/XX/XXXX charge, but due to the XX/XX/XXXX charge being over 60 days old, they can not reverse this charge and I am left to Discover 's mercy to get my money back. I have attached the additional information given to me by my bank for the outstanding XX/XX/XXXX charge.
