Complaint: My husband has co-signed for my daughters student loans through Discover for 3 1/2 years. She has 2 semesters left and Discover has denied my husband, myself and dad the ability to be a co-signer. All have good credit and both my husband and dad have accounts with Discover that are current, and the FICO scores on each of their statements indicate they have good credit scores. I have called Discover and they can not tell me why all XXXX co-signers have been denied. I feel it may be related to a personal loan request, in which they denied my husband, but offered my dad and he refused after they kept losing his paperwork. If this is the case I am not sure why they even offer student loans. The loan is in my daughters name and her responsibility, with the understanding we will pay the loan if she defaults. We also had the understanding that no payments were necessary until after she graduates. I am in the process of paying off my student loan and then we were going to start paying on hers when mine was paid. I feel Discover owes my daughter an explanation as to why suddenly they can not offer her a loan. She has done absolutely nothing wrong in this matter. She is just trying to complete a degree so she can attend graduate school. I have contacted them over the phone and each time I just end up with a customer service representative who reads from a screen. Discover does not live up to college loans services as they advertise and I hope this incident can put them back on the right path.

Don't agree with fees charged
Complaint: Some of my private student loans, originally serviced by XXXX, were sold to Discover Student Loans. Of the XXXX loans serviced by Discover, XXXX have seen a major jump in interest to 10.125 %. The third has remained at a reasonable 4.5 %. I know numerous people with Discover Student Loans and they have interest rates in the 3-5 % range. Since I went back to college and had trouble finding a job afterwards, I have not been able to make anymore than the minimum payment and my balance keeps going up. I am already having trouble making ends meet and Discover decides to raise my interest rates to an unprecedented level. They are taking advantage of my poor financial condition to make the principal balance higher so they generate more income on interest. Numerous people are in my position, trying to make a life for themselves but can not do so because student loan companies are conducting unfair business practices.

Complaint: Today is XX/XX/2016. Approximately 2 weeks ago a Discover card debt collector contacted my father at his home looking for me. Which made no sense since discover had my contact info and had been speaking with me. They told my father that they were trying to reach me. They also said that I was behind on my payments by XXXX and that I owed a total amount of ( I am unsure what the total was at that time ). My father told them I did n't live there and never have and to not contact him again. I have not spoken to my father in almost XXXX yrs. Discover had no business giving out my personal info. Complaint: I paid my discover loan payment ontime as usual as confirmed by looking at my credit history I paid XXXX XXXX/XXXX/16 it is confimred by an email from Discover stating they received my payment, I also received a confirmtion number, and I have proof from my bank and a copy of the bank statement showing that discover took the XXXX out of my account on XXXX/XXXX/16 The payment was never applied to my account,, I called and they said there was a system update that caused problems with payments, the money was never applied to my loan, now I am receiving collection calls, and collection letters,, even though they said they will fix the problem they have not,, I faxed a letter to them on XXXX/XXXX/16 to the fax number I called and got from a Loan Manager, they have not replied or acknowledged they received it.. I sent copies of all the proof that the loan payment was paid, including the bank statement. This is now affecting my credit. I pay every month on time all my bills, now I am showing past due..I am so upset about this because there is nothing I can do about it. They will not correct the issue.. I have spent hours trying to correct this, I have done everything to correct this I have documents showing that the payment was made, and not just the payment but XXXX over,, I like to pay over the amount due. What can I do? my hands are tied.. I am now going to have poor credit. How do I make another payment, It will be due again in a few weeks, how do I make the payment and make sure its applied to my account. If having proof, a cofirmation number, a dopy of the bank statement showing that the paymnet was paid to Discover, a copy of the email and these things do not correct the problem what do I do??
