Complaint: I have XXXX loans through Discover Student Loans which I took out for my XXXX education. Over the past few months I have called to let Discover know that I am returning to XXXX status, starting an XXXX program. On each call I have received different instructions about the process for getting my loans deferred. To err on the side of caution, I submitted proof of enrollment online on XX/XX/XXXX. I recently received a letter back in the mail claiming that my request did not " meet their requirements ''. They list an arbitrary, onerous set of conditions for exactly how the letter from the school must be formatted and what it must contain. This process is, prima facie, an obstruction of consumer rights. I am attending a worldwide renowed, top-XXXX business school, and it does not offer a letter of proof of enrollment meeting their baseless criteria. Since their phone support techs have been misleading and offered contradictory information repeatedly in the past, and Discover is trying to obstruct my contractual and legal right to a deferment, I am submitting this complaint.

Complaint: Third time this year I have XXXX loans XXXX and XXXX, I mail in {$75.00} each month to them. They will not let me see it online, or mail a invoice to me, cant get the balance without calling and transfered around. I mailed these in last month XXXX money orders XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX sent in USPS picked up Saturday XXXX/XXXX/2016 and the XXXX loan was processed on the XXXX of XXXX. The loan XXXX money order from XXXX XXXX was processed on the XXXX. XXXX are mailed same time, same address. Yet Discover Student Loans says they NEVER got the money order for loan XXXX and I am late. Third time this year on this exact loan XXXX, same thing mailed, processed at XXXX XXXX later by days and they claim they never got the money order. I called they told me " a lot of illegal things happen these days in the world '' while talking to the rep in XXXX XXXX XXXX, UT on Sunday. To which I asked how a money order mailed to them, made out ot them made out to a set account number and loan number WITH a letter made out with the instrucitons for a THIRD time on XXXX loan of XXXX loans total with them is the ONLY XXXX having this issue. That maybe someone else processed it, aka not Discover. Well its their office, its a pattern now, and its illegal for anyone else to be able to process that money order made out to them that is now processed on teh XXXX and not yet on the books. This morning I check and the payment online history shows that I now didnt pay XXXX but on the XXXX I paid that to XXXX XXXX. So whats going on here! Where is the {$75.00} they took and is processed to them.

Complaint: Got a Discover Personal Loan XXXX, 2016. Said the rate was between 7.5 % - 19.99 %. They were never actually going to give me a decent rate, even though my FICO was XXXX. Told me the only way to get a better rate was to have my account debited automatically. Got a 16.99 % rate. Told me there were no processing fees, but examining the loan, I realized there were fees. They added up to over {$700.00} over the life of the loan. So they reduced my rate to 16.96 %. I paid an extra {$1000.00} in XXXX and again in XXXX. Even though I have made these extra payments, they continue to state that my loan will only be shortened by a few months. They say that the loan is a simple interest loan, but when I do my loan online - XXXX, etc. more of my money goes to principle than it does with Discover. I just got my XXXX bill, for XXXX, and I am being charged {$10.00} more in interest, than I was on My XXXX bill which was for XXXX. XXXX and XXXX have the same number of days in the month. I also pay {$27.00} more than what 's due each month. I am very suspicious of this company 's loan manipulations. I know they just been in trouble over their student loans.

Complaint: We filed a dispute to a charge by a contractor/merchant who turned out to be an unlicensed contractor in the state of California. This contractor did not complete the work and caused significant damage. We asked the contractor to finish the work but they did not. We filed a complaint with the CA State Contractor Licensing Board, and also disputed a part of the charges with Discover. Discover would allow us to dispute only one of the many charges and denied that there was another charge. Then discover failed to investigate or make any effort and closed the case in favor of the merchant. We asked them why they closed the case, they said they needed more information and as asked them why they would not ask us for more information. They said to send them the information right away which we did. However, to date they failed to review the documents we sent and failed to apply a temporary credit as they promised they would do.

Complaint: XXXX XXXX claims i have a contract with them. They claim i signed a 2-year contract & want to charge me {$390.00} for something i only had for three days. I found their service inferior. I explained to Discover Card that no one had explained to me that I was signing a contract and the only one with documentation was XXXX XXXX. This is not a valid contract because no one explained to me that I was signing a contract ( the installer had me sign something like an Ipad and never said that this was a binding contract ). Therefore and I explained this to Discover Card, I do not feel I signed a valid contract & can not understand why Discover can not understand this. XXXX XXXX sent them the contract which I never got and Discover agreed with them. With no meeting of the minds, there is no contract!!!!

Complaint: On XXXX/XXXX/2016, I purchased a XXXX XXXX Desktop Hard Drive from XXXX. After trying a number of procedures suggested by both XXXX ( the manufacturer 's support website ) and XXXX ( the manufacturer of the computer into which Hard Drive was to be installed ) including purchasing XXXX more cables to 'piggy-back ' unit into my existing Hard Drive, and not achieving any results, XXXX suggested I RETURN the hard drive to XXXX , the merchant from whom I had purchased it. I called XXXX customer service and was assured they would send me a return label and I would get a replacement unit. XXXX NEVER mailed me such label, or a replacement unit, or issued a refund for {$84.00} ( price of unit and shipping ). I then contacted my Credit Card XXXX, DISCOVER, and filed a billing dispute XXXX, Case No. XXXX. On XXXX XXXX, 2016, I received correspondence from DISCOVER CARD, XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX, UT XXXX, saying they were closing the dispute as " the transaction appears to be valid! ". Furious, I called DISCOVER CARD at their toll free number XXXX, and attempted to have their customer service reps address a number of issues. The first call got me thru " XXXX '' / '' XXXX '' who was flip, condescending and refused to put me through a GENUINE SUPERVISOR who could address the issue. He finally hung up on me while he had me wait for such a supervisor. I called back at the same number, and also got their Ohio Call Center once more, only this time I spoke with a " XXXX '' who made believe he could not hear me and finally hung up on me. DISCOVER CARD has been totally irresponsive, arbitrary, capricious, and outrageously callous. I 'm a XXXX year old XXXX XXXX Veteran living on a fixed income and {$84.00} for a XXXX LB PAPERWEIGHT which I was expecting to use as a Hard Drive in my desk top computer may seem trivial and petty to both XXXX and DISCOVER CARD, but for me it represents SUBSTANTIAL LOSS for something I 'll never be able to use as intended. I would like DISCOVER CARD to use their CORPORATE MUSCLE and force BESTBUY to send me a replacement WORKING UNIT, and a return label with which to return the defective unit, OR issue a CHARGEBACK to XXXX for selling non-working electronic parts and refusing to stand behind them through either replacement or credit for price paid. I have CLOSED OUT MY ACCOUNT with DISCOVER CARD after the very unpleasant experience, after paying them off in full on XXXX XXXX 2016.

Complaint: I am talking to a realtor today and a car dealer. I am up for a swap in my car lease and my partner and I are looking in XX/XX/XXXX to move to XXXX household together and commencing planning. My relator and car dealership agent show me that Discover Student loans loan XXXX and XXXX are hitting me credit score HEAVILY. All my loans are paid early and significantly more then minimals and months in advance and have been for over a year now. Yet they are documenting that payments sent in together loand XXXX cleared on XXXX/XXXX/2016 yet same day sent in payment XXXX is STILL today XXXX/XXXX/2016 not processed. They do not mail invoice, balance cant view these online, nothing this is the third month in 2016 I have battled them on this. They take payment over what the payment terms are agreed to. Yet then play these games and my dealershipo and realtor told me my credit is being hit with " In the meantime, I would work with Discover to correct the information that they have on your credit report. Because they are showing as " profit and loss '', which is a term that means " uncollectible '' to a lender and weighs down your credit score in a big way, this affects what you qualify fo '' I have gone to Discover over this REPEATIVELY on the processing payments on loan XXXX and XXXX. I have gone to them on why cant I see the balance on line or in a mail bill monthly or calling your number? Why is this listed hurting my credit but for a year and a half now I have paid MORE then the requested amount and months ahead on payments? This is blocking me from getting into a car or looking at moving in with my partner.

Complaint: XXXX issues - The loan rate being charged can not be substantiated via the loan documentation, and the loan rate charged is above what can be calculated. I am a cosigner on my daughter 's student loans. Originally the loans in question were with XXXX who sold the loans to Discover prior to the deferment period ending. The loans are variable interest rate loans. The loans use either the 3 month XXXX or the XXXX XXXX published Prime rate to calculate the loans interest rates. In addition there is a " margin '' associated with both loans. However, Discover can not provide documentation ( prove ) the margin associated with the loans. Using the original disclosure statement to " back out '' the margin using the published interest rates, shows the interest rates being charged are above what the rates should be using the historical rate changes for the loans. Numerous calls to Discover Student Loans, including talking to a supervisor at Discover has failed to produce the documented " margin '' on both loans and an explanation of how the rates are calculated.

Complaint: I recently contacted Discover because I was behind in my student loans and wanted to catch up on the payments. After speaking with a Discover representative I was informed I was not able to refinance my loans and discover does not do settlements or work with outside companies. After doing online research I learned this was a lie and the representative was only telling me the company does not do refinancing or settlements so I could keep making monthly payments and not seek a lower interest rates. After calling back and informing the representatives on this matter they transferred me to an account specialist who informed that in fact Discover does do refinancing. After speaking with the account specialist she informed me that in order to refinance a loan you must pass a credit check and have a good payment history, but this is clearly a way to keep you from being unable to re fiance, because if you have not paid your student loans, you credit is effected and you do n't have good payment history ; thus you will not be able to pass there credit requirements and not be able to refinance ; thus you have keep paying higher montly payments and charging more interest. I want to file this compliant for the reasons listed above ; In addition, I get called by Discover on numerous occasion as early as XXXX and as late as XXXX and when I am informed them of the situation they transfer me to another department. I am usually on the phone half a hour at a time, just to tell them I spoke with a representative earlier in the day. This company has lied to me about there policy 's and procedure 's, and calls me non stop.
