Complaint: PLEASE SEE ATTACHED FOR ALL DETAILS ... Summary Here -- XXXX I received a call from " XXXX XXXX '' supposedly ( it was actually XXXX XXXX ) with a special offer to transfer all my credit card balances onto one new Card ( ended up being Discover ), and that the transferred amount would be interest free until paid off at {$250.00} per month. The cost for this was {$1900.00} and was charged to my XXXX XXXX card ( see attached ), and then transferred to the Discover card. They did not mention anything about a transfer fee to the new card, and I was charged an additional {$420.00} for that. I was also told that the new Card I receive would have a low interest rate for life, but when received it was actually 23.24 % ( see attached ). I called Discover about the transferred balance, and they told me it was only interest free for one year and they never do " interest-free for life ''. I called XXXX back who was my main contact at XXXX and it took me about 5 calls over several weeks before I finally got her on the phone just before XX/XX/XXXX. She said the offer was indeed valid and that she would send me an email confirming that. She still has n't, and I 've called and left messages for her 5x since then, and emailed her 4x and she has not returned my calls nor emails. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED VERY DETAILED PAGES WITH ALL DATES, TIMES, LENGTH OF TIME SPOKEN, EMAILS AND NAMES OF THOSE CONTACTED. ***NOTE - I tried to enter the amount lost below but was unable to. It 's {$2400.00}.

Trouble with how payments are handled
Complaint: I contacted Discover Student Loans after a loan was reset and shown as requiring a payment I already made. I spoke with supervisor XXXX in XXXX XXXX XXXX, UT who advised me I could make the remaining payment and they could place an administrative forbearance on the loan but they could only do this after I had made a payment. To have a system reflect a loan as unsatisfied and require XXXX payments in one month on this loan is a direct violation of my loan agreement and I have received no follow up on if me paying a monthly payment twice would move my due date for that loan forward a month, or how Discover intends to remedy their system error. Executive office team member, XXXX XXXX was also aware of this and offered the same remedy of placing an administrative forbearance once the remaining loans had been paid. Discover showed a minimum payment due twice for the same loan, at this point they are aware the loan was paid twice-yet the due date for that loan was not moved further back nor have they made an attempts to rectify this issue. Finally I was advised when the loan was reset all the information would move over to the new loan number. The new loan does not show any of the interest paid to date on the loan they reset or any of the prior loan history.

Complaint: In XXXX XXXX I reached out to Discover Student Loan asking for help repaying my student loan debt. Each time the response was the same, they can defer my payments for 3 months, which only temporary helps and causes my monthly payment to increase after the 3 months defer is over. I sent emails, called customer service and each time I get little or no help. I understand this debt is mine and I am not trying to avoid paying back my debt however I have stressed multi times the monthly payments are just not manageable! After researching student loan modification I stumbled across an article written back in XXXX stating Discover Financial Services is XXXX of XXXX lenders offering loan modification programs. something that was NOT offered to me! The article XXXX states Discover would not release details until XXXX however they plan to lower interest rates on distressed customers and may even come up with loan forgiveness programs for overwhelmed borrowers. I understand each situation is different and must be worked out based on borrowers individually to repay. I like many others are looking for a solution however many complaints show that borrowers sought to negotiate a modified repayment plan with little or no help - Why?? We are trying to repay but need help. Can you please help???

Complaint: Discover Credit Card Servicing has prevented me from accessing my account information online and everywhere else. I submitted a fraud claim after my card was compromised while I was hospitalized for a chronic illness and they have taken no action towards providing a proper resolution and crediting my account. I have reached out to the Executive office and continue contact with Discover agents who said that an investigation was being conducted. I received a letter in the mail stating that the investigation was concluded and that I was not liable for the fraudulent transactions, but to this date I have no access to my account information nor has my account being credited for the unauthorized charges. XXXX and XXXX from supervision has done a very poor job to follow up and address my concerns. XXXX continue to ask in my call how she can help me, after I explain the situation several times, but provided no response when I stated that I receive a letter stating that I was not liable for the transactions, she instead kept saying that she would note in my account the information I provided. The issues have been extended for almost three months. The balance in my account should be {$XXXX} if the investigation is conducted with propriety as I have not been in possession of my card. Discover has not sent a replacement card.

Complaint: I am very disappointed the way Discover handled my dispute. They sent me a letter dated XX/XX/2016 stating that regarding my charge of {$5100.00} from XXXX a company that contacted me by an unsolicited telemarketing phone call, promising online business related. They never provided me the services that I paid for. They scammed me out of {$5100.00}. So Discover stated at the letter that they have no record of me disputing this charge in the past. But as as of XX/XX/2016, they were initiating a dispute investigation and sent me a notification informing me of the temporary credit to my account for the disputed amount of {$5100.00} and notified the merchant of this situation. They explained that if the merchant provides documentation that shows the charge is valid, they will remove the temporary credit and notify me with a copy of the information provided from the merchant and that this process typically takes less than sixty days. Then I received my statement from XX/XX/XXXX till close date XX/XX/2016 and they put the {$5100.00} charge back in there. I do n't understand why? Less than a month after they started the dispute and no letter explaining why they removed the temporary credit or if the merchant replied or not. They did not give me the chance. So I would like them to reopen the investigation since nothing was done and they did not comply with the disputing steps.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2016 I purchased a couch from XXXX, and on XX/XX/2016 the couch was returned. The couch contains 90 % polyurethane foam which contains XXXX toxic chemicals, and I am extremely allergic to the couch. I contacted discover regarding the situation, and discover provided me with credits. On XX/XX/XXXX Disc. Reversed the credits stating they had contacted the vendor, but the vender never responded to Disc. I provided Disc. With a copy of the email from XXXX stating they would refund the money, and still nothing. So now I have no couch, and I am out {$2000.00}.

Complaint: I have a balance of 4000 plus dollars on my account and there should be a XXXX dollar balance currently as all transactions were fraud on the account since XXXX. I filed multiple claims multiple times but they never got back to me or re-credited my account. I do n't even see credits from large fraud charges to merchant. Discover has not even proved to me that I made the charges. IF I know I did not make the charges, then how does them simply doing an investigation that does n't even entail any real proof make them correct and me wrong? There are many more charges of all kinds that I have not received credit for even though I claimed them as fraud and the investigations are now all complete. I should get all my credits valuing to the amount of my current total balance. I can not even see the statements at this point thus I do n't even know what charges Discover is holding my liable for as of now that equals my total current balance. This has already disrupted my credit report, so I also seek additional compensation for damages caused by them not changing my revolving my balance on time and having this account in bad standing for 6 months or more, for no reason, and I should not have to be responsible for such damage. If I knew Discover would have such poor response rate and fix to fraud charges, I would not have signed up for this credit card. I am even a preferred card member where I pay an extra XXXX dollars a year. They should treat me better than this. This is my third complaint against Discover now using this CFPB service. They still have not done anything.

Complaint: In XXXX XXXX, I lost my job and had to go back to my country for 10 months due to severe family issues. During this period, I was unable to make monthly student loan payments. Consequently, my student loan debts ( XXXX private student loan companies ) went into collections. Every since I came back to the XXXX and got a job in XXXX XXXX, I have been diligently paying off the debts to the collection agencies ( XXXX different agencies ). First, I have been struggling with unreasonable student loan monthly payments ( i.e., approx. {$1500.00} per month which is 50 % of my monthly paycheck ). Since my student loan debts with the collection agencies, I am unclear about the amount of debts that I 've been paying to these collection agencies are actually the precious amount of debts that I owed. Second, my husband and I are planning to apply for a mortgage in the near future and it 's come to our attention that this has been negatively impacting our credit score in a significant way and it would most likely hurt our ability to qualify. I would really like to remove these negative accounts from my credit history.

Complaint: My issue relates to the article written by you. I was enrolled in Discover 's " payment protection plan '' which I have ZERO recollection of ever enrolling in -- trust me, I do n't have enough money to just randomly hand them over a percentage of my credit card spendings every month. They enrolled me in this program XX/XX/XXXX ( or XX/XX/XXXX ), due to my admittedly poor due dilligence, I did not notice this being charged monthly until last month. I called them IMMEDIATELY to tell them to remove this program, that i never enrolled, that I never WOULD have enrolled, and that if I DID enroll, it 's because of their dishonesty and not properly explaining this program to a kid getting his first ever credit card. They simply said they would reimburse me for the past 7 months, but I am essentially screwed for all the previous years and fees for which they have robbed me. I ca n't afford this and I feel so incredibly misled and taken advantage of, so I appeal to you to please help make this right. This details of this scam from Discover were covered by you before here : XXXX PLEASE HELP ME GET MY RIGHTFUL MONEY BACK. I was tricked and am already in dire financial straights. Complaint: I am still having problems filing a loss mitigation package with my secondary mortgage holder. The amount that is owed to Discover Bank is less than 8 % of the value of my home and less than 23 % of the available equity of my home. I have attempted to settle with them due to loss of income since XXXX of 2015. This is the second time I am filing a complaint against them. Each time I send the information they request they come back with missing information needed. When I request that they inform me of all missing information needed I supply the missing information then I receive another communication from them informing me I am missing more information. This has been an ongoing issue with them. Now they want to see Bank information from my XXXX children who I happen to be a secondary signer on their account. They are not associated with my mortgage in any way, shape, or form. They have not given their signed permission to release this information and I have informed Discover of this fact. They are now threatening to close my request for a loss mitigation package. Let it be known that Discover has consistently been unreasonable with their request for information, and they are only the secondary mortgage holder on this property. Our Primary mortgage holder settled with us last year with not issues.

I AUTHORIZED THE CHARGE. MONTHS LATER WHEN WE HAD SITUATIONS COME UP THAT THE INSURANCE COVERAGE WAS NEEDED I FOUND OUT THAT WE WERE TOLD A BOGUS INSURANCE AND I CALLED DISCOVER CARD AND FILIED A DISPUTE FOR THE CHARGES OF THAT POLICY. I SUBMITTED EVERYTHING ONLINE TO EXPEDITE THE PROCESS I ALSO UPLOADED ALL THE DOCUMENTS FROM THE INSURANCE WHAT THEY SOLD AND HOW THEY LIED TO US. ALL XXXX DIFFERENT LOCATIONS WAS DENIED AT DIFFERENT INSTANCES. DISCOVER CARD DRAGGED ON THE INVESTIGATION FOR MONTHS ALMOST A YEAR, CLOSED MY ACCOUNT AND CLAIMED THEY WILL NOT REVERSE THE CHARGE.
