Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: In XXXX I responded to a wage garnishment. I went to the court and filed the necessary response. The officer informed me that the company had 30 days to send a response. The 30 days came and went. Since I had asked for a copy of my application and the amount owed at the time of write off I assumed this information could not be found. I then called Discover and was told to contact the agency that had my account. I spoke to a rep who was located in New Jersey about my account. He started to ask my information like address, ss #. I decided that if this company was suing me they should have this information. When I asked this question I was " disconnected ''. I did n't hear from the agency again. XX/XX/XXXX I was informed by my payroll department that my wages would be garnished again I tried to get information. This time I found that the agency is in XXXX XXXX. The practices of this company are sneaky and unfair. I feel I did respond within the time frame. I was also told by the sheriff that I had correctly responded to the order. Why was there no response? The company then waits a year to garnish me without any further notification?

Sued you without properly notifying you of lawsuit
Complaint: Since XXXX 2010 XXXX XXXX XXXX have been trying to collect an alleged {$1400.00} credit card debt from me. They have threatened me w/ a lawsuit to collect the debt without serving me at my residential address. They have obtained a default judgement because I not present at trial and I was not aware of the lawsuit against me. I disputed their debt and asked for verification bearing proof of my signature. They have failed. They sent a list of credit card statements instead. As per FTC opinion letter from Attorney XXXX XXXX XXXX, creditors/collection agencies should be aware that a printout of a bill or itemized document does not constitute verification.
Till this day they continue to report derogatory information on all 3 of my credit reports listing charge off 's every month for the last 7 years damaging my credit worthiness. Given that XXXX XXXX XXXX acted in bad faith, and have not complied with federal and state laws, I told them I would file a small claims lawsuit to seek damages in violation for : 1. ) Defamation 2. ) Negligent Enablement of Identity Fraud 3. ) Violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ( including but not limited to Section 807-8 ) 4. ) Violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act ( including but not limited to Section 623-b )

Card opened as result of identity theft or fraud
Complaint: On or about X/XX/17, I was contacted by Discover regarding a credit card account opened in my name. I advised that that I had never opened such an account and verified my personal information. They indicated that they would open an investigation into the matter. I received a notification from them dated X/X/17 that they had completed their investigation and determined that no fraud had taken place and that they were opening a new account in my name and would be sending me statements, and that I would be responsible for approximately $ 9k+ in charges.
On X/XX/17, I contacted the credit reporting agencies to advise them of the identity theft and to determine if other accounts had recently been opened in my name and found that there had been, with XXXX XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX XXXX XXXX. In contacts with the aforementioned creditors, they were far more helpful and immediately closed the fraudulent accounts and absolved me of any responsibility for repaying any of the fraudulent charges.
On X/XX/17, I contacted my local police department, who assigned a case number and opened an investigation. All of the aforementioned creditors, including Discover, were provided with the police department case number and contact information. This information has also been provided to the credit reporting agencies.
In the meantime, I just got an email advising me " my '' new card was being sent to me. I continue to get collection calls from Discover ; each time I respond to them advising them that I never opened an account with them. I then get transferred to their " fraud '' department, and each time the tell me that I am liable for charges associated with the fraudulent account.
It should be noted that I have never received a credit card or any statements from the aforementioned credit providers at my physical address. Correspondence from Discover was mailed to that address only after they found my real phone number and called me about the account and I provided them with the correct physical address. Upon contacting the other creditors, it was also determined that they too had been provided fake email addresses and phone numbers.

Denied loan
Complaint: I am in a XXXX program for XXXX XXXX studies. I applied for an XXXX loan at Discover and was denied because I am not a degree-seeking student. I called Discover back for the second time and spoke to a woman on the phone and explained all of these details in depth to her. I explained I was technically a XXXX XXXX, was technically an XXXX but already had my degree, etc. We spent I would say 10-20 minutes on this recorded phone call. In the end she said Discover could in fact help me out based on that information and to go ahead and apply for a XXXX loan. I did so, was approved, and had my mother co-sign on the loan. Because of this we each had hard credit checks ran so we have added inquires on our credit reports. After more time I did n't have to lose financially had lapsed and some added pressure on my school, I found out that Discover in no circumstances whatsoever loans to XXXX/non-degree-seeking students. On top of that, Discover themselves never sent an e-mail with the information that I was denied or sent an account notification that would have generated an e-mail. I now have no student loan, have to apply somewhere else again, lost precious time, and an extra inquiry on my credit report all because of a Discover employee. I expect the company to do anything they can to retract the credit inquires from the companies as to not damage my credit score and that of my mothers.

Complaint: Discover send me a lot of letters offering me the Discover It credit card the last offer I was offered a 14 month 0 apr on opening the account perfect they gave me that but it says on the offer after that APR will be 13.24 % -16.24 % based on creditworthiness but ended up having a 21.74 % APR after the 14 months. I called 2 times explaining that no luck wrote to them they told me that is the lowest APR they can gime me. So why did they did send me multiple offers for a lower APR and then when I opened the account they gave me a one not near what I was offered. That it 's just false advertising they lie to the clients then when they have you on their hands everything changes.

Debt was paid
Complaint: Discover collections called me on XX/XX/XXXX. My account is not past due and is up to date and current. I questioned the specialist why I was receiving a phone call. He could not explain. He only stated that I was close to my credit line and they were just checking in with me. In XX/XX/XXXX Discover reduced my credit line and left about {$100.00} of my balance to use. I currently have almost {$200.00} of my credit line remaining at this time. I find it harassing that they are the ones who reduced my credit line and then call me months later stating they are calling because I 'm close to my credit line. It feels as though they reduced my credit line so that they can call me and make me feel like a bad customer. I 've done nothing wrong and I simply want answers as to why I was contacted for an important business matter when I have paid my debt on time monthly. They are the people who reduced my credit line and have now decided that I have a hardship. I do n't have a hardship. I 've spoken to a few supervisors only to be passed around and left with no answers as to why I was placed in a collections calling queue when my bill was not past due.
