Problem with balance transfer
Complaint: I applied for a Discover Card about 30 days ago with a balance transfer on the application. I read as much information as I could about the balance transfer process. I was approved for {$900.00} which is less than the balance transfer which was fine. In the meantime I paid off the other credit card in full since I was unable to do the balance transfer. Now today XX/XX/2018 I receive an email stating my balance transfer has gone through with an amount of {$850.00}. I immediately called Discover and asked why would I not be notified this action was taking place. Why would I want my new credit limit to be maxed out and also I need to cancel the balance transfer as there is no balance on that credit card. Discover said they could do nothing as it was still pending on their end. Which means no payment has been sent to XXXX yet. How can they not do anything and now I have to wait for XXXX to receive the money and then try and have them decline the transaction and send the funds back to Discover. They told me this was in there disclosures but from the 3-4 pages I ready while applying I could not find anything. This is not right and I need some help!

Complaint: I use auto-pay to make monthly payments to my student loan in the amount of {$860.00} on the XXXX day of each month. The only way to update the funding source ( bank account ) for the automatic payments is to call and have it updated. My wife called at XXXX PST on XX/XX/XXXX to update the bank account information and received confirmation from the agent that the update was made and the next automatic payment would be taken from the updated bank account. It came time for the automatic payment to be withdrawn on XX/XX/XXXX and it came out of the old account that was no longer in use resulting in a {$37.00} overdraft fee. My wife called the loan servicer just before XXXX PST on XX/XX/XXXX to find out why the payment wasn't taken out of the new account which had been updated 3 weeks ago. She spent nearly an hour on the phone and got nothing but scripted replies and " I don't know '' regarding why the payment wasn't taken out of the new account. She asked that they credit back the {$37.00} overdraft fee which they caused and was told it wasn't a possibility and wouldn't be done. She asked several times to be transferred and was put on hold over and over again before finally being transferred. The woman she was transferred to offered to credit the fee back but she first had to listen to the call recording from XX/XX/XXXX and then she would call back within 20 minutes. Surprise, surprise, no call back within 20 minutes. She was told that it was possible the bank account information wasn't updated because it was later determined it may not have been an authorized change since she was not an authorized third party on the account. This was NEVER communicated in any way nor was it ever mentioned on the call on XX/XX/XXXX. If this were the case, the agent should have never took any information or provided confirmation that the account information had been updated.

Complaint: I have been having some issues with Discover credit bureau for a little over a year now. I reached out to them via email at their card member services website back in XX/XX/XXXX after I noticed that they had never reported any of my payments to them on my credit. I never received a response as well as after reviewing my credit again have discovered there was no action taken to report. My last payment to them was in XX/XX/XXXX for {$250.00}. I also spoke with a representative recently, on XX/XX/XXXX, about settling my account, In the conversation I asked the representative to email me a copy of the settlement agreement for my records, He advised me to make a copy of the conversation, confirmed my email address, and stated that they would email me the settlement agreement. The settlement agreement was never sent to me however. attached is the file i saved as a copy of the conversation.

Complaint: Discover card has been harassing me multiple times every day and night, early and late, 24/7 insisting I call back. They call on both my cell phone and landline. I have never provided my private landline number to Discover and this is an invasion of my privacy. When I block one of their XXXX numbers, they switch to another XXXX number and continue calling repeatedly. I called back today XX/XX/18 and was informed that I could take advantage of some sort of automatic debit program if I was late making payments. As far as I know, I have not been late in making a payment. The calls are harassing. In addition, Discover repeatedly contacted me to transfer a balance from another credit account and when I did, Discover reduced my credit limit for absolutely no reason. These are misrepresentations, harassment and the Discover company needs to be reined into proper business practices. Thank you. XXXX XXXX

Complaint: Around XX/XX/XXXX my cellphone wallet was lost including my ID, Bank card and possibly my Discover credit card. I was unaware that my discover credit card was in my wallet because I never use it. On XX/XX/XXXX I saw my statement with a high balance and I called Discover and reported my account had charges that I had not made. The account was closed and a new card was mailed out. I received a letter on XXXX stating that the investigation was closed. A month later I received a strange phone call from someone who said they worked at Discover and insinuating that i used the card by asking how would someone know what my credit limit was and how could they use the card and stop at my credit limit. Also caller stated he wanted a copy of my drivers license and a police report. I was on the freeway at the time and could not speak to the caller and ask to be called back later and given an email address and fax number so I could send information requested. I send a copy of requested information but the caller never called back. In XX/XX/XXXX all of the fraudulent charges were added back to my account.

Complaint: I was charged XXXX from a place called XXXX. I never signed up for this. There are many sites to look at such for free. I discputed these charges with Discover Card and all they told me is that XXXX told them is that the charges are no fraud since the card has my name on it which associates with my email. They also told me that they sent me a Welcome letter in email and several other emails. When questioning to recieve such emails XXXX has yet to supply such and Discover Card keeps telling me I subscribed to this company on XX/XX/2013. At that time I was in the process of going thru with a home purchase, so why would I sign up to look at foreclosed homes. Discover card refuses to write off these charges that I never authorized. Funny how XXXX says your never liable for unknown charges, yet they are screwing me over

Complaint: I have been a Discover card member since XX/XX/2010. Today, I learned that each month, I have been getting charged for something called " Discover Payment Protection ''. This charges my card based on my current balance, and is currently averaging about {$60.00} per month. Over the past 8 years, these charges equal thousands of dollars. I was NOT aware of this " service '', and however I was signed up for it, it was not to my knowledge or with my explicit consent. The " service '' was never transparently presented to me, and Discover is unable to provide the documentation that kicked off the service for me in the first place. There was a lawsuit over this very issue, but Discover has since changed their policy to only refund 6 billing cycles worth of these " service '' charges ( as opposed to the full refunds that consumers have gotten previously ). I spoke to various people in this department of Discover, and all said that there is nothing they can do beyond the 6 billing cycles. They all kept reading from the same script, and not directly addressing my concerns. They claim that the monthly charge being included in my account activity and " newsletters '' are enough to notify me that I had this service. If you do not check your account activity, or do not read newsletters from your credit card companies, there is no other was to know this is happening. I feel that this I was signed up for this deceitfully and I am owed all of the money that has been charged to me since XX/XX/2010, not just in the past 6 months. I am truly considering leaving Discover and taking my business to another credit card company who doesn't use these low bar tactics to make money.

This payment should have paid the last of the loan off, however while the money was withdrawn from my checking account the payment was never applied towards my loan balance. I have called multiple times and been asked for patience while they attempt to resolve the issue, I have messaged them through their online messaging system with similar results. I have uploaded a copy of my bank statement, as well as a letter from my bank confirming the payment, as they requested and still they have not resolved the issue nearly two months later. I have lost faith that they have any intention of fixing the problem at this point.
