Complaint: This morning I tried to send all of my XXXX from Coinbase to a hardware wallet. I always send a small amount first to make sure the address is correct and that transaction was instant but when I tried to send the rest, XXXX XXXX at XXXX PST to XXXX it 's just sitting in the " PENDING '' status. Coinbase has no customer support you can even contact about this issue but on the support part of their website this is what it tells you, " If you sent litecoin from your Coinbase account and it 's still pending, this may be an error on our end that we 're working to resolve shortly. Complaint: Shortly after XXXX I open an account with Coinbase to trade digital currency. After setting up the account and sending them a small test deposit I wired a larger amount for {$10000.00}. When I attempted to trade they required a second level of identification verification. That step failed and I have not been able to either complete the trade or get my money back from them. For over a month now they have kept my {$10000.00} in Hold and I have not been able to access it. They have told me to open a support ticket and has been open for over a month now. Phone support does not help and they keep telling me it has been escalated to the highest possible level. It is not right that they have been keeping my money unavailable for this long. The initial email response I received from them last Saturday was a computer generated response that did not pertain at all to my situation. When I replied I got another generated response stating they might not respond for several days. Complaint: In XXXX of XXXX, I purchased one Bitcoin ( 1 BTC ) using my account on Coinbase, with the intention of making a long term investment. Approximately one year ago ( XXXX XXXX ), I determined that I had lost the two-factor authentication methods that allowed me to log into my online wallet at Coinbase. Unfortunately, I had also lost access to the phone number to which the account was associated when I opened it in early XXXX. I retain access to the associated email address and also my password, but Coinbase does not deem this to be sufficient to re-establish access.
Four months ago ( XXXX XXXX ), I began the process to recover the account. I was told that by opening and new account and identifying myself using the same method ( a government ID ) and associating with the same bank account ( which requires access to the account ) I would be able to confirm my identity. Then, it would be possible to transfer the balance from the old account into the new one, and close the old account.
Having completed these identification steps ( XXXX XXXX, XXXX ), I requested the balance transfer. On XXXX XXXX, a Coinbase representative responded and indicated that a resolution was imminent, stating : " Im working with a specialist to review and finalize your balance transfer. '' However, since this point I have received no further communication about the issue from Coinbase. ( Nine days have passed at the time of my submission of this complaint. ) I have attached a log of my communication with the company about this issue.
In concern, I called their phone support line, and after three hours on hold was able to discuss the issue with another representative. This representative discussed the issue with their supervisor, but in response provided me exactly the same description of the issue. The supervisor would work with a specialist. The issue had been " escalated, '' although it is not clear what this means. I requested clarification, and was told be the representative that the issue " was in their hands '' ( referring to the supervisor ), but they did not indicate the name of the supervisor. They provided no written confirmation of the conversation, leading me to believe that they would not resolve the issue in a timely manner.
As Coinbase abides by know your customer ( XXXX ) guidelines, they identified me when I opened my account. They are presumably able to identify me again using the same methods, which I have completed and they have acknowledged.
The company 's own representatives have indicated that the transfer of a balance between accounts that the same individual controls is a standard mode of account recovery. They have given no indication as to why this might be a technically involved operation, and it is hard to imagine how it could be more complex than a modification of the company 's internal ledger. It should thus be carried out in a reasonable amount of time. Coinbase 's representatives have behaved in an unusual way by failing to communicate any detail about this process, and instead offering unverifiable assertions about progress of the process.
I am not the only individual I know of in this situation. Other users have been waiting on a resolution of this problem for up to several months. Given the prevalence of the issue among customer complaints, it appears that Coinbase may be engaging in a kind of opportunistic abuse of their customer base by refusing to acknowledge customer identity when it is not in their interest. I hope this is not the case and expect a swift resolution of my issue. I hope that the same standard is applied to others who are in the same situation.

On XX/XX/XXXX I made several sales of Bitcoin for a total amount of XXXX which was deposited into my USD wallet. I was able to withdraw XXXX Of it before an error saying more information was necessary before I could continue to withdraw my money.
I have an associated XXXX account that is about 15 years old by now. Attached to the account along with two bank accounts all in my name as well as two debit cards.
I submitted my ID and verified my account information and social security number months before I began trading.
The system began requesting the same information again now that i have money to withdraw.
When I try to verify my very simple information (billing address last four of social)
The software fails to verify my identity and I am sent back to the home page to try again in 8 hours.
It has now been 11 days of me attempting to verify my own identity which i had already verified previous to getting large amounts of money into the account. Now that I am trying to withdraw they are hiding behind my inability to verify my identity as to why they are holding my funds hostage. They will also not allow me to convert the USD currency back into bitcoin or some other cryptocurrency s that I could transfer it out of my account.
I have submitted support tickets

The problem with this is you get anywhere between 1-3 attempts every 24 hours to pass the quiz.
Keep in mind. I have verified accounts with other entities like XXXX, and XXXX
So there are other ways of "verifying my identity" to make sure everything is on the up and up.
Long story short, i am not in the shadows i provided all forms of ID and verification I have complied with all regulations I pay taxes etc.
Mathematically speaking there are at least 20 different combinations of how to provide my very simple details in order to satisfy this ridiculous quiz.
I responded to this unhelpful template response and have gotten no response. I have tweeted them, direct messaged them via XXXX, emailed them, put up several other support tickets and have also called. I spent an hour and a half on hold for the person on the other line to be quite friendly and pleasant, tell me she was going to connect me directly to a support representative via email so that we could resolve the issue. The email i received was simply her forwarding what i referenced above with a personal note "thank you for calling coinbase"
to me this kind of irresponsible lack of transparency with handling peoples money by a financial institution is just completely unacceptable. People have a right to know why their funds are being held up and why they are being forced to jump through hoops they had already jumped through prior to funding the account.

I try re uploading my documents to just repeat the proccess and your server just keeps erroring out regardless as to what time I try.
You also restrict the attempts so after 2 failures on your end i have to wait another 24 hours to try to get my money out.
This is a very weird thing.
The only reason I trusted you enough to transfer large quantities of currency with your exchange was under the safety of knowing I had certain limits that were agreed upon ahead of time. Now i just have USD stuck in your exchange and I have no control over how to get it out now. I ask that you please release my account given the fact that it is verified I am a US citizen and I pay taxes. Or allow me to re exchange my USD for a crypto and move it out of your exchange to cash out.
Its not right to just hold your customers money hostage without giving them a proper reason or some sort of support.

I recently completed a sale of some bitcoin i had in my account for about
7500 dollars. I was able to withdraw about 3500 of it when i started
getting a message saying that I needed to complete more information
www.coinbase.comXXXX.
This was surprising as I had a fully verified account before I started
trading.
I did this on purpose as I did not want to do lots of transactions or have
a lot of money sitting in an account where it would be possible for the
funds to be held hostage as they are being held at this moment.
I have provided my information several times
i resubmitted my IDs only for the verification to fail
yet it says i have a verified california id document on file.
I can provide whatever data u need to verify my identity I am in california
just a few hours away from your home office.
Please allow me to withdraw my USD funds into my bank account
Or at least allow me to convert into some sort of crypto u offer ether
litecoin or bitcoin and allow me to move it off your exchange.
this is not right to not be fully transparent with your patrons and tell us
whats really going on, these are the holidays and people are trying to get
their cash out to take care of their families...i really do need my funds
so I would appreciate some sort of response that is not a preconceived form
response that helps no one and frustrates this end user.
Please do the right thing and respond with some sort of actual solution
rather than "trying the quiz again with various variations of how the
address should be typed"
you only give us 2 chances every 24 hours... getting every variation of ave
avenue apt apartment suite etc it could take weeks before i get my money
out.
I exist. I am a citizen of the united states. you do business in the united
states.
your customers have rights too. please i implore you treat us like human
beings and provide a solution or a legitimate reason why this is happening.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I ordered XXXX LTC ( Litecoin, Price per coin : {$150.00} ) via my linked bank account to coinbase Inc. for {$1700.00} USD, and XXXX ETH ( Ethereum, Price per coin : {$470.00} ) via this same payment method for {$2000.00} USD. On XX/XX/XXXX, I ordered XXXXXXXX ETH ( Ethereum, Price per coin : {$460.00} ) via same payment method for {$1200.00} USD. The money for these cryptocurrencies was withdrawn from my bank account on XX/XX/XXXX. Usually, the coins take 7 days to be deposited to my coinbase account. However, the three orders were canceled consecutively by Coinbase Inc a day before the scheduled delivery. I tried calling the customer service line in more than five different occasions, and there was no positive response from them, I have also sent couple of emails and created complain tickets, all to no avail.
They have not delivered my coins, and they are still holding the money I paid for these coins.
Since then, the prices of these coins have risen to : Litecoin, Price per coin : {$360.00} ; and Ethereum, Price per coin : {$840.00} as at the time of this complaint.
Also, my account has been temporarily suspended from buying anything on Coinbase.

Complaint: I previously had a Coinbase account, where I would invest money. The account has locked me out, forced me to withdraw my funds, and will not allow me to re-create my account. It says I was in violations of XXXX. XXXX has referred me to this complaint process to remove my name from whatever list I would put on so I can create an account.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I wired Coinbase {$14000.00} to purchase Bitcoin. I 'd contacted their support department first on XX/XX/XXXX in regards to this wire not posting to my account. All of this was done under Coinbase Case ID # XXXX, I again tried to contact them through their online support system since they do not have phone support on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX,XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX, and XX/XX/XXXX. I have been told that my case is with the correct support team and that is it, I 've received no estimated time my money will be available to me or any reasonable contact to make me believe my {$14000.00} is not just lost and/ or stolen or any number of other possibilities. I put in a Better Business Bureau complaint and all Coinbase has told me from that is the same reply that my issue is in the correct teams hands without any idea if or when my money will be provided back to me. I ultimately just want what I sent Coinbase my {$14000.00} for, Bitcoin. I think it is completely unbelievable that they have had my money for now over 2 months and I just keep getting the run around that the correct team is engaged but I have gotten zero resolution and really awful support.

Complaint: On the morning of XX/XX/17 I completed a {$1800.00} wire to Coinbase. I have confirmed that the wire instructions including the further credit reference was present and correct. Coinbase still had not credited the funds to my account. They stopped responding to me on Saturday. They didnt even acknowledge my messages earlier. You cant call them on the phone.i shared all of the wire info including the bank Ref and fed Ref numbers. They havent even made an effort to check on it.

Complaint: Company name : Coinbase, website : https : //www.coinbase.com I made a transaction in coinbase. During the registration, it asked me for last 4 digit of social security number and my residence information, I provided all the information.
I was able to made transaction on ( XX/XX/XXXX ) and, it was promised to me that XXXX ( cryptocurrency ) will be available with in a week ( XX/XX/XXXX ).
when XXXX ( cryptocurrency ) was increased from {$100.00} to {$300.00}, company told me that they can not transfer the XXXX.
It is a loss to me, if they denied me during the transaction itself I could go for to other exchange.
I did the transaction of {$2100.00}, my account was showing the limit of {$3500.00}, so it was with in the limit. limit couldbe increase if I upload my id. during the transaction they did n't ask me to upload my ID for this amount of transaction.
