Lender trying to repossess or disable the vehicle
Complaint: I recently appplied for a loan with Credit Acceptance i n XXXX . In XXXX I was admitted into he hospital for 2 months and fell behind on my payments. Consequently, I the collection calls started coming in. I recieved a call fr om Credit Acceptance in the month of XXXX and was told that a full payment of {$280.00} was due today to avoid repossession. Once payment was made over the phone, the associate would then contact the towing company and tell them to cancel the repossession process. The payment was made and the account was settled I called again in XXXX to make arrangements w ith Credit Acceptance so that I could build a rapport with them. I al so inquired with the associate what their policy and time frames were on repossessing vehicles and told about the situation that happened in XXXX . She informed that the associate had no right telling me that my car is was about to get repossed without an immediate payment and she then apologized on behalf of the company. Naturally I felt confused and lost peace of mind with Credit Acceptance. It is now XXXX and I fulfilled my arrangement of {$100.00} to keep the account satisfied. They called again today XXXX / XXXX / 2017 a nd I spoke with an associate to make further arrangements. I told what I could afford and when the payment would be made. She did n't accept my offer and when I tried to explain to her my hardship situation she not only interrupted me several times but was condescending and threatening. She then further threatened to notate my account and said I was being " uncooperative ''. I understand th at Credit Acceptance h as a job to do it collecting payments. But I do not have any peace of mind with this company. They are very aggressive with their collection calls and ask me inappropriates questions like " in order to make payments can you ask your parents for help? Or can you ask your relatives for help? '' These questions make me feel uncomfortable. I also need them to give me a clear understanding of what their policy is on repossessing vehicles. I was told that as long as I make arrangements with them I can avoid that consequence but each time I speak with this bank I get different answers. As a result I wake up every day XXXX wondering if my car will be gone or not.

Account status incorrect
Complaint: i called credit acceptance in the beginning of XXXX to notify them that i would be making a payment on XXXX to avoid towing/repossession and the customer service rep agreed. Credit acceptance than towed my car before the agreed upon date. on XX/XX/XXXX i made the payment as agreed + the additional towing charge and was promised that it would not be reported on my credit due to it being prematurely towed. on on XXXX XXXX XXXX i was alerted via XXXX that Credit acceptance reported my car as reposed and on the XXXX reported it as redeemed. i again contacted them and notified them of the error and was told there is nothing they can do and that it is not their problem. another issue i have with credit acceptance is that they do not call me to notify me of ANYTHING my phone number is XXXX and they do not try and contact me at all. the only notice i received was via mail on XXXX that my car was due to be towed ( the car had been towed the week prior )

Problem related to refinancing
Complaint: On XXXX XXXX , XXXX I purchased a car from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX , VT. Said car was financed thr ough Credit Acceptance Corp. out of XXXX , MI. My finance contract had the purchase price minus my down payment, but also included fees for the extended warranty and for th e GAP Protection. On XXXX XXXX , XXXX I re-financed my car through my local credit union and a check for the payoff amount was sent t o Credit Acceptance Corp. That GAP protection was issued by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX and I was told by them that the protection was cancelled and there would be a partial refund issued. I then spoke with a customer service agent at Credit Acceptance an d was flat out told that there would be no refund issued to me on this. My contract has me paying for the car, the financing, the warranty AND the GAP! My refinance took care of the pay-off. So I should be entitled to that partial GAP refund because I 'm the one who paid for it. Credit Acceptance Corp., is re fusing, actually they are just telling me that there will be no refund issued to me for the GAP period, end of story, sorry! BS

Complaint: I took out a loan in XXXX of XXXX for a used car with a huge interest rate because of my credit issues from a very corrupt suto company and it was financied through Credit Acceptance. I n XXXX if XXXX the car was repossed due to late payments I paid the past due amount in XXXX to get the car back from repossession. This is where my tragedy starts, when I picked the car up from the auction the interior was completely covered in MOLD. So much that I could n't sit in tbe car. The auction attempted to clean the car claiming it was sent that way from the repo company i called the finance company credit acceptance and told themI could not drive th e car because of the mold. The auction cleaned the car was still filled with black mold. I told the finance company I could not keep the car even after extensive cleaning. I have XXXX boys bor n at 27 weeks I let credit acceptance know my son is extremely allergic I can not drive him around in the car. They refused to take responsibility for the fact that their repo company left the windows down and the car was rained in for almost 2 months on and off. What was I to do. I had them come and get the car after they refused to help clean the car so I could drive it with m y children. I have pictures to coloborate my story

Complaint: I purchased a vehicle from XXXX XXXX and was set up with financing through Credit Acceptance. I was told I was getting financed on {$18000.00}. If I go through full term of the loan I will be paying them over XXXX for a vehicle that is only valued through XXXX . at {$8400.00}. Now when I try to refinance the vehicle I am getting denied due to the loan amount exceeding the value of the vehicle. This is not right for a business to do to somebody who is already low income and struggling to keep his family a float.

I noticed on my credit report I had a repossession from XXXX reporting from Credit Acceptance. Complaint: I purchased a new car, and I gave this one back to the finance company. My new car dealer drove the XXXX to XXXX for me, and he spoke with the owner regarding the vehicle. The owner made him park it in a back lot, so it would be out of his way. I followed behind, and picked the dealer up.
I have a voice recording of my call to Credit Acceptance, explaining to them that I voluntarily surrendered the vehicle and returned it to the place of purchase. XXXX informed me they normally pick up the vehicle within 10 days. They will sell the XXXX at auction and bill me for the remaining balance. I requested they not call me continuously until the vehicle is auctioned.
I immediately mailed my key to XXXX, who has possession of the vehicle, along with a copy of this form and the notes above the line.
I drive by and check on the vehicle periodically to see if the vehicle has been picked up yet, and to ensure no vandalism has occurred.
The financing company has not yet picked up the vehicle. They continue to call me multiple times a day, seven ( 7 ) days a week. Sometimes they leave voice mails, sometimes not. I only get a bit of the voice mail, which is an automated message to call them. At this point, my voice mail box is full. I refuse to clean it up and make room for more until they cease harassment and follow through with their established procedures. They call from so many different numbers ; it is nearly impossible to block them. I 've tried to compose a call history, but I can not guarantee I got them all. It makes my eyes cross and gives me a headache!

Complaint: I received a judgement ( request and writ for garnishment ) slip from a company that I contracted for last year. This debt is more than 20 years old and is not valid or right according to my research. To elaborate on the situation here are the details, purchased a vehicle back in 1996, after a time the vehicle was stolen, no use in continuing payments on a vehicle that I no longer had possession of and yes the information about the theft was provided to Credit acceptance. Fist this debt is way over the statute of limitations and secondly I have not been served any papers to appear in court to defend the validity of the case. I do not have any papers due to the fact of the age of this situation and I am looking to see if there is any remedy for me due to improper handling of an old debt.

Complaint: My husband and I opened a car loan for a XX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX we had the car repossessed for being a month and a half behind. My husband had been having health problems and returning to his old job was not an option. We paid the amount to get the car back and made a payment arrangement with them. They offered the car at {$570.00} a month and we were agreeable. Unfortunately the first payment was to be made two weeks later and we could n't do it until 6 days later, somehow we were not able to get them to do a payment arrangement and we owed all this money up front. They accepted the {$470.00} every month on the XXXX and we finally got a payment arrangement on the XX/XX/XXXX for {$470.00} that day and a {$100.00} two weeks later and we would start paying {$570.00} on the XXXX and then continue with {$100.00} every two weeks after the main payment date. We have held up our part and yesterday the XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX I am having threatening calls of repossession after we already agreed on XX/XX/XXXX for payment arrangements. I checked my credit report and on both XXXX and XXXX I am current on the payments with {$0.00} behind. Credit Acceptance will not allow me to access my account online nor will they tell me why I owe {$840.00}. I have asked for them to send me a statement or an account summary 4 times now and I have yet to receive ONE. We have spent a ton of money on this vehicle and somehow we are told we owe different amounts each time I talk to a representative. It is {$370.00} or {$470.00} or {$840.00}. They NEVER tell me what I owe for but if I do n't pay today they will repossess my car. Forgive me for the angry rant, but this is really really bad for my husband 's health which he is on the XXXX list. We are both trying to make this work and each time we work something out, they call me with repossession threatening phone call. The last payment arrangement I asked for them to email me an arrangement document, they said they do n't do that. My husband told me they would n't honor it because they have yet to honor any agreement we have made. I paid on the XXXX the {$100.00}, two weeks after I made the {$470.00}. It was on the XXXX we started getting these threatening calls without being able to tell me why I owe so much. They wo n't send me anything like they have n't the 4 times I have asked. This company has crooked practices. I will NEVER EVER get another car loan through them.
