Debt collection: Other (i.e. phone, health club, etc.)

Called after sent written cease of comm
Complaint: I got into a contract dispute with XXXX XXXX. XXXX broke our contract based on XXXX issues. I rightfully terminated our former agreement for non-performance. Thereafter, XXXX tried to use debt collection agencies to enforce early contract termination fees. Debt is defined as a promise of future payment owed for goods and/or services rendered. Early termination fees of a contract agreement rightfully discontinue is a contract dispute not debt for services or goods provided. This is a civil matter not a collection matter. There is no court order. XXXX XXXX is trying to use the debt collection process as a means of extortion rather than hiring an attorney and taking the matter to court which is their legal right and where the issue belongs. I believe they are using this method because they understand they have no legal position. Thereafter XXXX XXXX hires a collection agency. The collection agency writes me notice I respond with proof of service and deny any debt. The collection agency quits and XXXX XXXX hires another collection agency. Again, I respond with proof of service and deny any debt. The collection agency quits and XXXX XXXX hires another collection agency. This goes on 6 times. I have attached all correspondence and proof of delivery to each. It appears in the middle of this process XXXX XXXX increase the amount owed and changes the account number. Finally XXXX XXXX finds a collection agency that sends no notification " Allied Interstate ''. The agency immediately reports I owe {$410.00} ( and some change ) to XXXX XXXX and gives this information to credit rating XXXX and XXXX. I write a letter to Allied Interstate claiming I was never sent a notification and could they please send me a copy. They do not reply. I write back stating to please send the original notification and I further tell them that I will be requesting XXXX and XXXX the remove this from my record and verify any alleged debt. This would remove any plausible deniability on Allied 's part. Both XXXX and XXXX do so. Thereafter I write to Allied demanding they remove this claim from my credit record telling them, what they have done is illegal ( since no notification was sent and I will report them if they do not ). See all correspondence attached and proof of delivery. As of date this issue still remains on my credit record.

Debt collection: Credit card

Contacted me instead of my attorney
Complaint: I have been trying to get Allied Interstate/XXXX to communicate with my credit counselor regarding my debt. Despite receiving verbal and written authorization to do so, they still refuse to communicate with him. I have also agreed to a settlement amount of {$1500.00}, but the last time I spoke with Allied they told me that they could only mail the settlement letter and that they would n't date it for further than 10 days from the day I spoke with them - which would not give me enough time to send the settlement payment.

Complaint: They are calling at least 10 times a day every single day.Probably even more often. They call every hour. They used to call from the same phone number but started calling using numbers from different states : like XXXX or XXXX etc. It is the same lady calling though and the only message she leaves is " XXXX, Hello. I had to call back a couple of the numbers she called from, and all said Allied Interstate collection company. I only got XXXX written communication from them on XXXX XXXX, 2016. I called them back and told them I already had a payment plan set up with credit card company itself. They ignored me and continued calling and harassing me.

Can't repay my loan

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Complaint: Allied Interstate LLC continues to relentlessly call and harass me and my friends with verbal violence and abusive treatments. This includes manipulation attempts to garner private, secure information about our identity, but at the same time refusing to properly identify themselves and who they are. In addition, they allege unauthorized student loan amounts owed to them that seem to change with each subsequent phone call. In addition, despite us having told them that they have the wrong number and despite having requested for this company to cease their calling and harrassment, Allied Interstate LLC refused to stop. In addition, the callers make up lies and attempt to gaslight unsuspecting individual consumers into giving out their credit card information over the phone, without really knowing who this company is. This company has already been in trouble with the Federal Trace Commission and has been involved in a XXXX $ XXXX lawsuit with the FTC. So there 's that.

Improper contact or sharing of info

Debt collection: I do not know

Contacted me after I asked not to
Complaint: Allied Interstate collections agency has been calling my husband and I multiple times a day for weeks, never leaving a message for the reason they were calling. The woman that has been calling is named XXXX XXXX. I finally called the number back last week to find out why they were calling it went to her voicemail, but I assumed based on the lack of information she provided in her voicemail that it was a collections agency. So I left her message stating to either stop calling multiple times a day or leave a message when she called so we could appropriately respond to why she was calling. She stopped calling me and instead, started calling my husband. He finally answered the phone this morning and stated she was trying to collect a debt owed by my brother. My husband and I have nothing to do with my brother or his debts, nor are we legally liable for his debts. They have no right or cause to call us to try and collect on his debt. I asked for her employee ID as i stated I would be reporting her actions, she lied to me and stated she had no id number and that she was doing nothing wrong, she " does n't know who XXXX lives with ''. That is total nonsense I have n't shared an address with my brother in 15 years. My husband has never shared an address with my brother. I have no idea who they bought our contact information from, but I am sure it was an unauthorized source.

Dealing with my lender or servicer

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Having problems with customer service
Complaint: This is/was a ParentPlus student loan for my daughter, apparently in my name, from approx. 2012 & financed through XXXX XXXX. My daughter ended up on academic probation for XXXX semesters, during which we paid interest on the loan. ( I believe this must 've triggered some automated 'loan is in repayment ' mode. ) When she was reinstated, all loans went back into deferment. Allied Interstate called me about this loan once approx. 2 years ago, and I explained the probation/deferment situation. I understood this to be the end of the problem. I heard no more until XXXX of this year, when I got a notice from my employer about garnishment! It 'd been sent to default erroneously, a month before my daughter even graduated! I contacted Allied, & was given different numbers, amounts, and instructions each time- but no one could tell me any of the specifics of the original loan so that I could provide proof of deferment. I finally got it escalated to a manager who was able to tell me the amount of the original loan. Through a great deal of research, my kid was able to find the detailed evidence we needed on her student portal. I faxed this proof in as instructed, 2 1/2 months ago. Despite my sending proof and several follow-up requests, I 've yet to hear back or see my paycheck restored. When I call, they tell me to call the Dept. of Ed. ( When I call DoE, they say talk to Allied! ) Meanwhile, I 'm left without the funds to cover my XXXX, as they are taking out {$600.00} every month. Loan Ref. # XXXX

Can't repay my loan

Student loan: Non-federal student loan

Can't get flexible payment options
Complaint: On XXXX/XXXX/16 I received a letter from the collection company stating that they would settle the student loan debt by setting up monthly payments of {$250.00} per month for 550 months or until the debt is paid in full. Part of the agreement was that after the 3rd on time payment they would reduce the interest rate on the balance of {$130000.00} from 10 % to .001 % for the remainder of the payment terms. I called the collection company on XXXX/XXXX/16 @ XXXX to accept the terms and set up automatic payments from my checking account. The first payment was to come out on XXXX/XXXX/16 which it did. Then I had another payment come out on XXXX/XXXX/16. However I did not have a payment come out for XXXX/XXXX/16. When I called on XXXX/XXXX/16 to inquire as to why no payment came out, they stated that the account had been recalled by the creditor ( XXXX ) on XXXX/XXXX/16 and then resent to the collector ( Allied Interstate ) on XXXX/XXXX/16. This process caused the original account number to be cancelled and a new account number to be issued. It also caused the automatic payments to be cancelled. I attempted to call the collection company on XXXX/XXXX/16, XXXX/XXXX/16, XXXX/XXXX/16, XXXX/XXXX/16, & XXXX/XXXX/16 to try to resolve this matter and have the collector reinstate the original payment agreement. On all of the above dates I asked for a member of management to assist with this issue. I talked to XXXX XXXX & XXXX XXXX whose titles are Vice President of Operations. Neither XXXX of these people were willing to reinstate the original terms of our agreement or contract. I made the first XXXX payments totaling {$500.00} for nothing. The collection company also refused to correct the calculated interest per the agreement so that the rate would reduce to .001 % effective XXXX/XXXX/16. Since XXXX/XXXX/16, I have been incorrectly charged over {$3000.00} in interest. I then received a response from XXXX XXXX to a complaint that I filed on XXXX/XXXX/16 stating the actions above. XXXX XXXX, Assistant Manager of Regulatory Compliance, then responded on XXXX/XXXX/16. She stated in her response that all I had to do was contact XXXX XXXX, Assistant VP of Operations to make my third payment and they would resume the program under my original terms and then reduce the interest to .01 %. I called XXXX XXXX on XXXX - no answer left a message, XXXX - no answer left a message, XXXX - no answer left a message, and then I called XXXX XXXX on XXXX no answer left a message. Then later on XXXX XXXX XXXX magically called me back. We talked for 19 minutes and he insisted that what XXXX XXXX wrote on her response was not accurate nor was it an offer that I could take. Rather that since I refused to make the third payment that I would need to start all over again. I stated to XXXX XXXX that I did not refuse to make any payment, that the company did not take the payment out of my account as they were scheduled to do and I have been in dispute with them ever since. He refused to acknowledge any issue on their end, but rather deflect to my end insisting it is all my fault. This company continues to use deceptive, deceitful, and malicious collection practices to target people and cause harm. They lie about the facts and then try to forcefully coerce you into paying more money than you should. I implore those who can to intervene and stop them from continuing to harm others.
