Complaint: First of all, it is very difficult to speak to someone at American Express they are transferring you to multiple reps that are not assisting you, I have several inquiries that were administered by American Express upon applying for 1 card with that being said I am a victim of identity fraud and what is happening before the company speaks with you they are already doing a hard pull before speaking with me and once they speak with you they are doing another hard pull after speaking with me why is the company doing multiple inquiries within 1 week when I only applied for 1 business card but there were 2 additional inquiries done and none was able to explain, they give you credit fraud information phone number and they will state to call credit bureau, you call the credit bureau and they state call American Express since the inquiry came from them. All I ask if American express removes the inquiries as I had no other additional service but the 1 card.

Complaint: second time writing in. first " Resolution '' was garbage. i am done with this company unless an until this is handled right. i been here 25 years no cards being used til this is resolved right. it has not been. they say they stand behind you nothing is further from the truth. i bought tickets to a show XXXX XXXX XXXX due to a security issue i missed the entire show. not my problem. i keep callling aAm ex who says they back you up and they keep telling me they should be able to help me at least get a credit from XXXX and it keeps as a matter of bureacracy getting closed. they keep submitting thei refund policy which in this case resolves nothing. It is not my fault i missed the show and there can be no proof from XXXX that there was not a security issue at the theater there was. This falls way short of what Am ex promises they have lost my business. this is not right. i want at moinimum a credit from XXXX and to be backed by Am ex who promises this in their marketing.

Complaint: I filed a CFPB complaint against American Express on XX/XX/2019, got response from the company today as of XX/XX/2019. However, the company refused to address my complaint by stating " During your online application you were advised based on your history with American Express Welcome offers, introductory APR offers, or the number of cards you have opened and closed, you are not eligible to receive this Welcome offer. The message also explained that no credit check had yet been performed and you were given the option to cancel the application or proceed. You elected to proceed with the application, without the Welcome offer. '' This claim was completely false. I am 100 % sure no such message was provided during my application, or I would not have proceeded with my application. In my initial complaint letter, I also clearly stated " Then I was told that on the Amex website where one can apply for the credit cards there will be a message towards the end of the application process that tells you if you are eligible for the welcome offer prior to the final application processing. However, in my case no such message was provided during my application process. Hence, I assumed that I was eligible for the promotional offer. More importantly, Amex should be obligated to inform the applicant immediately even if they have the so called " reserved rights '' to decline offer any time for any reason ( based on what the online agent said ). '' I suspect that the company was not even paying attention to my descriptions in the letter. This was a deceptive marketing event and though my conversations with other American Express customers, I learned that I was not the only one affected by the recent fraud activities. I demand that this event be thoroughly investigated and further involvement of legal authorities if necessary.

Complaint: In XXXX, 2018 i got a business card for a company I worked at. Three days after I received it another employee stole the card I immediately reported it to Amer Express and had the account closed. The ex employee used it to purchase some wireless communication equipment. Needless to say, the employee took a personal check back and paid for it. His check bounced. I didnt have a card with Amer Express. So Amer Express opened an account for me without my approval then transfer the {$3500.00} to me. I called Amer Express and advised I didnt want a card. That didnt matter to AE. They issued me a card anyhow. I have tried to explain this for about a year. Opened a dispute with XXXX. Then AE made it a charge off. I will have that on my credit report for 7 years. This is why I believe I should have to pay this. The total owed is {$3500.00}. I did report this to the Attorny GeneralOffice.

Complaint: Amex charged me a prorated annual fee for an account that I haven't used in a year and which it tricked me into keeping open for 3 wks in XX/XX/XXXX while it falsely claimed for a second time to investigate a promotion dispute I first initiated a year ago. I previously filed a complaint w/ CFPB Complaint Number XXXX. Amex 's response failed to address the complaint at issue -- the prorated annual fee for the three weeks that it tricked me into keeping my acct open for an investigation it now admits it never conducted.
On or around XXXX XXXX, I called Amex to close my account for which I was charged {$95.00} for the next year 's annual fee. I inquired about a promotion bonus that I was owed from a year ago. Amex rep XXXX XXXX confirmed that I met the terms for the bonus miles ID Dispute XXXX. He put notes on acct. XXXX stated that he's also including {$95.00} annual fee in the dispute to be waived.
While the promotion dispute was being reviewed ( Amex now admits that it lied twice about investigating this ), I asked Amex to change the card to one w/o an no annual fee but Amex warned that bonus miles might not be credited. Amex advised that I have to keep the card as Delta Gold. My concern was that if I don't close the card within 30d of the annual fee charge, Amex won't ever credit it. Amex XXXX assured me that it would be credited when the XXXX bonus miles are credited.
Amex now admits that for the second time, it LIED about investigating my dispute. While it was supposed to investigate, Amex tricked me into keeping the acct open which I tried to close or convert to a no-annual-fee card.
Amex tricked me into leaving my acct open for 3 wks for an investigation it never conducted and now charged me a prorate annual fee for those 3 wks.
