Complaint: I was on XXXX website looking up tickets for XXXX to XXXX and an American Express offer popped up that if I apply and get approved for the Delta Skymiles card, I would get {$250.00} credit towards my XXXX ticket purchase if made within 30 days of account opening, also get XXXX miles if {$3000.00} in purchases was made within 3 months of account opening. I applied and followed the instructions on the prompt and was approved immediately with a welcome letter. I was given a {$1000.00} temp credit to purchase my ticket then and given my account number to use. I got the card in the mail with {$20000.00} credit line and spent {$4000.00} in first month and paid it in full. I never got the {$250.00} Delta airlines credit or the XXXX bonus miles. When American express was contacted regarding issue via phone on XX/XX/19, I was informed that I wasn't eligible for the offer and they will investigate further. I never received any letter or indication on the prompts that I was not eligible for the offer, especially since they gave me the temporary card number and {$1000.00} to use for my XXXX XXXX purchase. On XX/XX/19, I contacted American Express again and they had completed their investigation and said the same thing again. They could not provide me with any proof that I was not eligible for this offer, then why approve me? My welcome letter indicated no such information of ineligibility, which should have been if the case was such so. This is false advertising and I was scammed into opening their card and paying a higher fee for an airline ticket thinking I was getting credit when I could have bought with another airline for half the price.

Unexpected increase in interest rate
Complaint: My American Express business card has a {$20000.00} limit and is used to make almost all of my business purchases. My current APR is 13.49 % and I generally carry a balance month to month. On XX/XX/19, my statement had a notice of APR increase an additional 5 % effective XX/XX/2019. This increase would be on all future purchases, and retroactive to my ENTIRE BALANCE at the new rate of 18.49 %.
I immediately called Amex and told them that I believed this to be in violation of the CARD Act of 2009, since I am not and have never been late in payments, and I know my credit score is well above 800 points. The customer service representative said that it was due to my credit scorXXXX and what other accounts are paying. All he could do was to file an appeal. I did appeal and somehow immediately won the appeal, so this change will not go into effect on my account. The representative assured me that American Express would not act illegally.
How many accounts are they doing this to? Are less informed people getting duped by American Express?

My account was in good standing at the time and I did not request that my account be closed.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I called to cancel my stolen card. Because I changed my PIN number, they told me my funds were being withheld from me until my new card came in the mail. I asked if I could transfer or if I had any options. I was told no.
On XX/XX/XXXX I called in again. This time the rep said all that was needed was for them to call me on my phone to verify it was me. He then said I could transfer my funds. He specifically instructed me to not use transfer funds, but use bill pay. I then did as instructed and entered in my XXXX card number.
On XX/XX/XXXX I received my new card as well as a check in the mail. Confused about the check, I called them again. They said because I used bill pay I got a check. I asked them about getting my funds back into my account. He said yes funds will be available thursday. I said ok nvm then I do not want to proceed with that then. He said he sent in the dispute. I said no I need my money cancel it. He said you can it tomorrow without issues, just call us when you cash it.
On XX/XX/XXXX I go to cash my check, it declined. I called again, now I'm bein told that I can not cash a check in my name that I sent myeelf. I must also want 10 more days for my funds.
I have bills and I have children they gave me false information causing my funds to be held from me. I can not buy gas to go to go to work, food to eat, nothing.

Complaint: I applied American Express Platinum credit card on XX/XX/2018.
They advertised that you will get XXXX Membership Rewards bonus after spend XXXX USD in the first 3 month.
I met the requirement for the welcome bonus but I haven't got the bonus.
I talked with American Express agents for several times and they response that I applied through a third party link which was not qualified for the bonus. I searched multiple times on the internet trying to find a third party link that is not qualified for the bonus but I just can't find one. I asked the agents to show me an example of such link and they said they are not allowed to do so. I asked for some XXXX search hints or directions for finding such a third party link and they refused to provide any information about such third party link.
I have the screenshot I took when I applied the card. The screenshot has information about what American Express advertised about the card I applied.
I have the previous correspondence with Amex agents.

Complaint: I received a targeted ad from Amex on XXXX, which highlighted the welcome offer of XXXX bonus points for the XXXX XXXX card. As the welcome offer was enticing, I clicked on the ad, which took me to the Amex webpage where I could apply for the card by entering in the required personal and credit information. When I completed the application process, I got an instant notification, indicating that I am approved for the card. There was no indication that I wouldn't be qualified for the welcome offer through the entire application process. The card arrived a few days later and I put the card to use immediately as I wanted to meet the spending threshold quickly to qualify for the welcome offer. In addition, I called in Amex several times to ensure that I would be qualified for the welcome offer if I meet the spending threshold and I was assured by the Amex representatives that my account would be credited automatically once I meet the spending threshold.
It wasn't until several days after I met the spending threshold that I realized I wouldn't be qualified for the welcome offer. After meeting the spending threshold I immediately called in Amex to check when I should expect to receive the welcome offer and I was told that the welcome offer is denied due to the history of receiving welcome offers for other Amex cards. I contacted Amex, explained the situation and created an investigation claim. I waited until today and was told that my welcome offer is denied.

Complaint: Regrettably, I have been unable to confirm vital information from Amex about my cardholder agreement. My understanding is that it states that Amex will pay for mediation over a claim ( notice already sent to their GC ) in the event I file mediation via XXXX or XXXX. Unfortunately, I could not confirm this during my chat this afternoon with an Amex employee. The agreement language seems to read pretty clearly, but considering the massive volume of CFPB and XXXX complaints against Amex as well as my own interaction dealing with their complaint department, I'm seeking certainty. I'm attaching both the chat transcript and the pertinent agreement language. Can you assist me in having Amex confirm that they either will or won't pay for mediation, as they refuse to comment on their own card agreement? Thank you very kindly for any assistance!

Complaint: Issue : American Express Membership rewards points were not applied to a transaction after customer request. The following is a summary of facts and interactions with American Express customer service with approximate dates.
XX/XX/19 : I called the customer service number since I was experiencing an issue completing the transaction to redeem my points in the American Express website. I was advised that I had 30 days to redeem my points after my account is cancelled.
XX/XX/19 : Transaction was processed and points were redeemed.
XX/XX/19 : Account status updated to inactive/cancel. I called the American Express customer service to confirm my transaction was process as expected and points were going to be use to process the transaction on XX/XX/19. I was advised that my points would be used to settle that transaction.
XX/XX/19 : Since a balance persisted on the account, I paid the total balance on XX/XX/19 to avoid any negative remarks on my credit history. I called the customer service number and I was advised that there was nothing they could do because my points were forfeited on XX/XX/19, 30 days after my account status changed to inactive. However, the transaction occurred well before the 30 days on XX/XX/19.
