Complaint: Prior to XX/XX/XXXX, my husband and I had credit cards ( gold ) from American Express, but administratively, the card is in my husband 's name with myself named as a second card holder. In XX/XX/XXXX we inquired about getting our cards upgraded to platinum. We were told that the primary card holder would get a platinum card for an increased annual fee of {$550.00} but my card would need to remain a gold card unless we wanted to pay an additional fee of {$170.00}. The only way that I could be the platinum card holder ( instead of my husband 's ) was if we closed my husband 's account and opened a new account under my name. We were told if we opened the one platinum card under my husband 's name that we would get reimbursed the {$150.00} we paid to access the XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX as well as have immediate access to their XXXX credit deal ( up to a {$15.00} credit for using XXXX ). Neither the {$150.00} reversal or the {$15.00} credit was provided. I called XXXX back in XX/XX/XXXX and stated that per my previous discussion with their customer service line I would like to close my husband 's account and open a new platinum account credit card in my own name with my husband as the secondary holder. At that time I was told that we were misinformed and that the secondary card would be free. Based on this information I agreed to sign up for a second platinum card - and stated multiple times throughout the call that I was only doing so because it would be free ( or at least just cost {$550.00} per annum in total ). While I have seen the marketing / customer information regarding a second card costing {$170.00} - I was specifically told that I was going to be free because I would not be getting ALL of the benefits of a platinum card holder, but I would get access to the airport lounges and would have a new card issued to me. Upon seeing a charge of {$170.00} for the second platinum card in XX/XX/XXXX I realized I had been charged, both in XX/XX/XXXX ( for a prorated amount of {$100.00} ) and XX/XX/XXXX, after being told that I was being signed up for the card for free. I called American Express to complain. They wouldn't do anything about the charge in XX/XX/XXXX but stated that they would remove the charge of {$170.00} that was incurred in XX/XX/XXXX. I asked that they review the taped recording of the original discussion to prove that I was lied to in the initial call and they agreed. They have not followed up on this request to prove that the XX/XX/XXXX expense was incurred in error. I have yet to have either the XX/XX/XXXX or the XX/XX/XXXX expense reversed on my credit card bill.

Complaint: OnXX/XX/XXXX XXXX XXXX arrived in XXXX XXXX and made a cash withdrawal at the International Airport. A second cash withdrawal datedXX/XX/XXXX appeared on our account allegedly from the same ATM at the international airport. This was discovered onXX/XX/XXXX upon return from XXXX. On the day of this alleged cash withdrawal at the international airport, XXXX XXXX and daughter were more than 50 miles away on a vacation excursion. XXXX XXXX was in XXXX during the entire period. No cardholder made this cash withdrawal. Despite numerous attempts to resolve this issue with XXXX XXXX XXXX, the only conclusion they can reach is that XXXX XXXX had the card in her possession and had the PIN ( which was not personal as the pin was issued by XXXX XXXX ). All undisputed charges incurred during this billing period for XXXX and XXXX were paid XX/XX/XXXX with a subsequent payment for international fee charges and interest on the undisputed cash withdrawal. All subsequent and current balances on this card are related to the alleged cash withdrawal. A detailed time line is attached. There has been no attempt by XXXX to resolve this either as admitting a mistake, determining fraud or providing XXXX XXXX to an excellent customer.

Complaint: Hello, My wife and I researched credit cards after we got married to move from individual to joint financials. We found the American Express Blue Cash Preferred Card online and deemed it to be the best suited for out needs. The promotion at the time was 6 % back at U.S. Supermakets ( up to {$360.00} a year ), 3 % can back at U.S. gas stations and 1 % everywhere else. The card is normally a {$95.00} annual fee but this particular promotion, on the American Express website, was 1st year free plus a {$200.00} statement credit after the first {$1000.00} of purchases. We applied for the card and were approved. We were thensubsequently charged the {$95.00} for the 1st year membership. We both have called numerous times about the charge requesting the reimbursement. The first call resulted in them opening up a review that took 6+ weeks, we received no call, and they closed it without resolution. After 8 weeks and two statements, and no {$95.00} credit, I called back. This time I spoke with a manager who worked with me on the phone to clarify and find the actual promotion they posted on their website. At first she claimed that no promotion ever existed. They magically, she found it, and confirmed it ran for almost 4 months on their website. She provided me the offer code and confirmed that we did in fact apply during the promo period and that I would receive the {$95.00} credit in 6 weeks. We are now around 7-8 weeks later and still no credit. The promo code I was given is : XXXX Sadly, for Amex, I acutally took a screen shot of the offer as well! Which clearly shows the promotion and terms for the card that we not only applied for but were also approved. I have called roughly 5 times and have been given nothing but more delays, empty promises of return phone calls and credits that never happen. This is unacceptable. If you aren't going to follow thru with your promotions they should not be offered. And if you aren't going to follow thru on your own accord, you should definitely do it after someone calls and you confirm as a company you are in error.

Complaint: I applied with an agent from American Express for a Gold card that promised XXXX rewards points if {$2000.00} is spent within 3 months of card activation. Now that I have card, I called American Express and was told since I had a gold card in the past, I was Not able to get the rewards incentive ever again. This WAS NOT told to me by the agent as I applied. It was originally offered through XXXX during checkout, and XXXX also backed off on their promise of a free year of Premier membership. I received the card in mid XX/XX/2016. AMEX promised to look into it, but it has been many weeks. If they do decide to honor their offer, I have only a few weeks to spend the {$800.00} needed to qualify for the " potential '' rewards. I am not using that card because I have better rewards using my XXXX cards : ) Can you contact AMEX on my behalf?

Complaint: I was contacted by XXXX about a credit card opened in my name that I never applied for. I informed them I was a victim of ID theft and made every efforts to resolve them. they informed me it was a business account that was opened under my social security number. I do not own any business of such sort and not aware of this but all efforts to have them investigate and remove this from my name has proved futile. I even enrolled in a credit repairing company ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) to help me resolve this and despite their numerous letters and request for XXXX to investigate and resolve the issue still proved futile. I had personal accounts with XXXX before this incident and they revoked all my other credit cards I have with them. I ensured I paid all my legitimate credit cards in full with them after they revoked all their cards. I need them to investigate what actually happened and remove this from me because it is affecting me tremendously and impacting my possibility of getting any credit.

Complaint: I applied for American Express through their pre approval page on their website. It showed me 3 cards with 2 different interest rates. When I received my card member terms of agreement ; the APR was at a random amount not even shown in any of the pre approval options. I called them right away and they made a case. Ive called about 6 times on the matter and no one there can get to me a department that can explain whats going on nor do they send me any correspondence about this so called investigation which they told me takes 60 days. Ive had my account open now about 4 months. To make matters worse, I received their 15 months no interest offer, and I keep getting charged interest every single statement period. Im sick of calling them. Theyre incorrectly and I feel illegally, reporting false debt totals to the credit bureaus. Ive called about this also every single month. Nothing is done. Im furious.

'' Then the representative informs me that : " I need to submit to accounts-review to see how come your account got suspended '' ... and when I ask more questions the representative proceeds to either hang up on me, or repeat the same phrase to me over and over and over again : " I need to submit to accounts-review to see how come your account got suspended ''. Complaint: I set up an ACH transfer from my American Express Serve account to my XXXX XXXX checking account. on Tues. XX/XX/XXXX. Normally, it takes 2-3 business for the transfer to be complete, but my Monday XX/XX/XXXX, the funds were not posted in my checking account. I contact XXXX XXXX regarding my transfer and I was informed that there was technically issues and my transfer would not be finalized until Wed. XX/XX/XXXX, but I did not get the funds posted in my account until the following day. Because of the funds were not in my XXXX XXXX account within the 2-3 days ; I receive four overdrafts fees from XXXX XXXX. I explain to XXXX XXXX several times regarding my issue, but the bank refuse to refund me the fees because it was not their issue. XXXX XXXX offered to speak to XXXX XXXX directly, but once again the bank refused to refund me the over drafts fees. XXXX XXXX only provided me a XXXX refund back to my XXXX XXXX account for only one overdraft fee. I have made countless attempts to resolve this issue and I have offered to provide my bank statement and/or other documents to show the fees, but XXXX XXXX refuses to speak me amount this matter. As a consumer, I should not pay for any fees because this was a technical issue.

Complaint: Issue : {$6.00}, XXXX XXXX XXXX/game charges on my American Express credit card over a 7 day period by an XXXX year old child ( XX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/XXXX ). Starting XX/XX/XXXX, I have been unemployed and underemployed along with a very expensive divorce in XX/XX/XXXX. Therefore, I have been steadily trying to climb out of debt. In XX/XX/XXXX, I was finally able to refinance my house and pull out some cash and paid off my American Express Credit Card of {$7200.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. There is no way that I would approve {$6200.00} of XXXX game charges. In XX/XX/XXXX after my payoff, my ending balance was {$130.00}. I approved my XXXX year old nephew to play a XXXX game for approximately {$24.00}. XXXX sent me an email and I confirmed the approval. However, as noted in the issue, the charges totaled {$6200.00}. My current understanding is that as the game is played you can go to higher levels and over the 7 day period of playing the game there were over 200 XXXX charges. These charges were as small as {$4.00} to over {$100.00}. Once I found out I called XXXX. It was after a 24 hour period so they sent me to XXXX. I have been working with XXXX customer service via their XXXX number. Every time I call, I get a different person. I have over 50 letters they have sent because they handle every charge ( over 200 ) as individual issues. I have documented two letters for the dispute. I am not certain how many charges they have removed permanently and how many they have not. Every time I call, I get a different person and no clarity where I stand as a whole except they would not remove all charges and my current bill is over {$5000.00}.
