Complaint: On XX/XX/18 I tried to utilize American Express 's Membership Rewards benefit to transfer XXXX of my Membership Rewards points earned through my American Express credit cards to my Singapore Airlines 's KrisFlyer account which is linked to my American Express Membership Rewards account. I was denied the ability to make this transfer, receiving the following message : " This action will not be completed at this time because your account is currently being reviewed to make sure all eligible purchases meet qualifying criteria. '' However, I have gone through and verified that all of my purchases were eligible and met the qualifying criteria. That same day, I contacted American Express through their online chat function and asked to resolve this issue. The chat representative was only able to say that my account is being reviewed by American Express 's Membership Rewards Team and that it will take 6-8 weeks to complete the review. This is an unacceptable time frame, as the primary value of American Express Membership Rewards is that they can be transferred to miles with partner airlines for use for award ticket redemptions. In 6-8 weeks, the award ticket that I plan to book will almost certainly no longer be available. I have opened up a prior complaint with the CFPB and American Express 's response was that my Membership Rewards account is still under review and no timeline was provided for when the review will be finished. I am opening this complaint again to respectfully request that the review be completed no later than 5 business days from the date that this complaint is submitted.

Complaint: About two years ago an American Express Card was opened in my name after I lost my wallet, and my identity was stolen. I only found this out recently, due to the fact I was checking my credit report and it shows closed by credit grantor. Why did I not ever receive this card? The address you have on file per your customer service I have not ever lived at in my life. I would like to request this account to be removed from my credit file. Per your agent American Express has me in their internal reporting as a bad customer for disputes. I never filed a dispute because I never got the card or billing statements. I want this internal reporting removed and the account removed from my credit report as I cant apply for an American Express because of this card.

Complaint: Hello, I saw an offer for a SPG American Express card with a XXXX point sign up bonus. This offer is available only to those who have never had the card before so I had an online chat with American Express to confirm if I have ever had this card. I have been a client for 20 years so I can not recall every product I have had in the past. The chat representative told me " Please be assure you never had a SPG a personal SPG card '' and " so you can go ahead and use the bonus offer ''. Now months later I have not received my bonus. When I asked why, the reps tell me I had a card many years ago. When I showed what a previous rep said in a chat they launched an investigation on XX/XX/18. I have been following up every week as they suggested but there is never any new information. It's been long enough. The evidence speaks for itself and takes all of a few minutes to review and consider not months.

Complaint: I had set up an online bill pay through my American Express Serve account on Wed, XX/XX/2018 at XXXX XXXX to pay XXXX XXXX XXXX in the amount of {$650.00}. The email i receive stated the payment should arrive in 24 business days. ( Transaction ID : XXXX ) On Wed, XX/XX/2018 at XXXX XXXX, I called customer service and requested to put a stop payment of the bill pay and have the fund return to my account. I was informed that the transaction was already processed and there will an investigation. I am not sure why the transaction was approved and the funds were transferred so quickly, but I have yet to receive the {$650.00} back into my account and it is very important that i receive those funds back as soon as possible.

Complaint: Amex is holding my XXXX of MR points due to a review. Getting details on the review have been very difficult to get and the story does appear to be changing. It started on XX/XX/XXXX when I was unable to redeem MR points when I was given a message that the redemption will not go though because the account is under review. I called Amex and two agents including a supervisor reviewed my account and could not understand why my account was in review. They tried to release it because they felt the account should not be blocked but could not. They said the review would take 4-6 weeks. They then suggested sending a ticket to the clerical team to have the hold released in a few days. The clerical team did contact me and state both her review of my account and her supervisor 's review found nothing wrong and they would attempt to release the hold but later found out the supervisor did not have the authority to do so. She then stated the review would in effect for 90 days from the XX/XX/XXXX and gave me XX/XX/XXXX as the day the hold would be released. She also stated the reason my account was put in review was because a secondary card holder on my personal card opened a business card in their own name as a primary. When asked what is wrong with that and why that initiates a review, XXXX the clerical agent who contacted me ) did not know what was wrong with that and said it made no sense to her. I did try to call back to membership rewards on XX/XX/XXXX since their supervisor had originally given a shorter time frame for the review on XXXX. They said the hold was still in place and said confirmed the XX/XX/XXXX completion date if not sooner. They also refused to provide anything in writing which stated how long amex will take to complete a spend review. After reading a 6-8 weeks in this forum I decided to call back on XX/XX/XXXX to check if the review was over since 8 weeks had passed. On the XXXX call I was told 90 days from XX/XX/XXXX and that the secondary card holder is now under review as well which was news to me. They could not explain why a secondary card holder of my personal card opening a different card, a business one in their own name, initiated a review of my account on XXXX but not of that secondary cardholder themself. I am also told the secondary cardholder review which began on XX/XX/XXXX will delay my review date because we are linked and affect each other. But when asked why didn't my review initiate a review of the secondary card holder on XXXX, they had no answer. Amex basically started reviewing me because of the secondary card holder opening a card but did not start a review the secondary card holder until 3 weeks later. And then that supposedly delays my committed completion date. Plus the secondary card holder had not earned a MR bonus ever upto XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX so there is no MR bonus for MR to review in the secondary cardholder 's name. I am OK with Amex reviewing for cases of fraud but this a ridiculous. Even when a supervisor decides release the hold, Amex is unable to do so. And each person you speak to has a different time frame on how log things will take since it is not in the card member agreement. They right to review is but it taking 4-6 weeks, 6-8 weeks or 90days is not listed in writing. On XXXX the MR agent also said fo the first time, my review started because of a returned item but could not specify which return he was speaking of and of whose card. Plus, holding XXXX points for a XXXX or XXXX bonus review is also unfair and terrible treatment of Amex customers. Amex should look into this and treat customers better in a competitive CC market. Holding ALL my points has caused major travel promblems to me and made question continuing with AMex if this is the way they operate. Amex should also release my points immediately!

I CALLED AMERICAN EXPRESS SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CLAIM THEY DO NOT SEE THE ACCOUNT ON MY PROFILE, BECAUSE THE ADDRESS I GIVE THEM IS NOT ON THE ACCOUNT SO THEY CAN NOT GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION

Complaint: I applied for an Amex Delta SkyMile card. I made purchase of the required amount within the required time. But it has been more than 100 days, I am waiting to get my bonus points. I am not able to book my tickets because of that. While contacting Amex customer service, they have the same answer all the time " We are Investigating '' None is ready to provide me any time line or any point of contact to escalate the issue.
