Complaint: I opened a charge card account with American Express and being promised that I will get XXXX reward points after spend {$2000.00}. I received the reward points after I made a car rental deposit at XXXX and American Express took the reward points back after I return the rental car and get my deposit back. I called to ask American Express what's happened they told me they thought it's a purchase and return so they took the points back. I explained what's happened and the customer service told me no worry I will get the points back if I reach the purchase of {$2000.00} before XX/XX/XXXX. I did more purchase and reached more than {$2000.00} at XX/XX/XXXX but did not get the points back. I called back to American Express they told me just wait 8 to 12 weeks I will get the points. After more than 12 weeks, I called back again and been told I will get the answer after 10 business days. After more than 2 weeks, I called them again and they told me my purchase at XX/XX/XXXX is too late. I point out I was been promises I just need reach the purchase of {$2000.00} before XX/XX/XXXX, but the customer service said she can not reach the records and will do nothing to help me. I had called American Express so many times and each time they ask me to explain the whole story again and the only response I got is longer waiting time and trying to sell me more credit card from American Express. I was trust American Express so I moved my major charge card and credit card account to them when their sale promised a great service. I did not expect the service will be like this and even more the customer service lied to me. Today the customer service lady said she can find no one to help me and there is no customer compliance number for American Express. I do trust CFPB is the only way I can let them know how much they can hurt the credit card business when lie to a customer.

Complaint: An American Express customer service representative has been calling a family member, to ask for my personal information like social security number, DOB, adress, for a credit card debt i have, this department calls daily, at all hours, weekend to my cousing to his home wich i have live before, my cousin informs me. My cousin told him that he could not give me that information because it is personal and he was not authorized to give this information and he dont have anyway. He does not know this information to give, the person insisted that give it to him because it is a debt with american express. I had talked to them before and told them that if I could fill out the form fo the card insurance because to pay off the deb, I lost my job almost two years ago and Iam not working, they refused to give me that benefit. I would like for this to be investigated, and give me the benefit that I have for the insurance of the card that come with it, my account should be completely paid by them, according to the law, also for the harassment to my person and my family, as well for denying me the insurance benefits of the card. I hope you dep can help me with this abuse of power and influence that American express has.

Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX charged my Credit Card in XX/XX/2018, {$930.00} for an Air /Hotel Package for a 3 days ppackage from XXXX to XXXX XXXX ( for myself and wife ) to travel from XXXX , N.J to XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/2018, plus {$53.00} for Travel Vacation Insurance. When my mother died on XX/XX/XXXX I contacted XXXX XXXX to change my travel dates to XXXX forXX/XX/XXXX thru XX/XX/2018 and I was assured that my Insurance Coverage was going to cover my new travel dates. However, XXXX improperly charged my American Express Credit Card for the new travel dates, with same Hotel stay another {$1000.00} plus, and credited my card only {$200.00} for the extra flight cost. Plus they credited my Credit Card {$53.00} in XX/XX/2018, for Insurance payment made to them in XX/XX/2018, in attempt to justify NOT honoring Insurance purchased on my Vacation Package. XXXX has since re-billed my American Express Credit Card against my challenge and they are insisting on collecting additional payment of {$930.00} for our travel and stay in early XXXX, instead of late XX/XX/2018. Their failure to honor the Vacation Insurance paid for in XX/XX/2018 is a form of deceptive and fraudulent business practice.

Complaint: My Account is in good standing. Bill to American Express Platinum is due XX/XX/2018 but as of a week ago American Express has been sending me numerous emails saying my card is frozen. I called and told American Express that my bill is not due and I should be able to use my PLATINUM CARD until I fail to make payment. It is misleading therefore for company to state card has no limits! It looks like some kind of racket that should be investigated. I am going to rethink my relationship with American Express. I don't like second class status!

Complaint: I applied XXXX AMEX credit card beginning of XX/XX/2018, but the application was rejected because I had two new AMEX credit card within 90 days. After passing 90 days, I applied XXXX AMEX credit card on XXXX, XX/XX/2018 and the application was approved. Before applying the credit card, I checked multiple times whether I am eligible for welcome bonus of the XXXX AMEX card. I checked it over the phone and chat service. The AMEX told me that " yes, you are eligible for the welcome off ''. After the card was delivered, in order to make it clear before completing required spending for the welcome bonus, I wanted to check whether I am eligible for the welcome bonus of the XXXX AMEX, so I called to AMEX. They told me that " No, you are not eligible for the welcome bonus and it might be due to system error. We will fix it within 3~4 weeks ''. I chatted withe them after the 3~4 weeks, they told me that " You are not eligible for the welcome bonus because you mis-used welcome bonus ''. They are changing their words. Please fix it.
