Complaint: In late XX/XX/XXXXI started having problems handling the mortgage payments. I am a widow of a XXXX and a XXXX year old XXXX senior citizen. I am retired and do not make a lot of money. Between Social Security, VA XXXX Benefits and Government Retirement I am getting a gross amount of {$3900.00} a month. My mortgage payment is {$2000.00} with Wells Fargo Bank. I also have medical bills, food, home up keep and maintenance, Insurance, and utilities. I applied for a loan modification and Wells Fargo has been giving me the run around ever since. They stopped taking my payments and did not notify me of any liquidation options to resolve this issue. The keep saying that they need bank statements that I have already provided them with on numerous occasion. They told me they were waiting on me to send them a statement on why I did not finish the loan modification process and they even sent my case to a new employee to start the entire process over again. Lately the excuse is that my case is with the underwriters and they are waiting to hear back from them but the auction to sell the home is still on. I believe they have been running out time while trying to remove the house from the bankruptcy I filed in XXXX. I have no where else to go. I have had several people contact me from out of state claiming they could help litigate my case in court for a fee. My son told me that is a scam and stopped them before I signed anything and gave them any money. The auction is set for XX/XX/XXXX. Please help asap! Thank you

Charged too much interest
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, Wells Fargo posted on my XXXX XXXX billing statement that my 6 month 0 % apr promo period was ending. My account was created in XX/XX/XXXX with a 1 year promotional billing period. When I submitted a complaint to Wells Fargo, they acknowledged an error and said that my promo period should have in fact been valid until XX/XX/XXXX. According to the policy on the back of the bill, if you submit an error to Wells Fargo, and they determine they were wrong, you will not pay any interest or fees on the amount questioned. Regardless of this policy, in XX/XX/XXXX I was charged an astronomical interest fee, at which point my {$200.00} balance reflected a {$140.00} interest fee. When I contacted customer service, he indicated that this is the interest on my amount owed in XX/XX/XXXX when my promotional term expired. I informed him that my promo term expired in XX/XX/XXXX, not XX/XX/XXXX, and that was an error I had previously disputed with Wells Fargo, so I should not have interest at all. He continued to assure me that the amount in question was correct, even though the amount which reflected an interest payment ( XXXX ) was never indicated as an amount owed at any time in my billing history. There was no further explanation on the bill. The rep then proceeded to calculate various numbers to find where a {$140.00} interest charge would come from, but he could n't pinpoint an amount that would yield this interest charge. He stood by the fact that the bill was correct, despite the fact the amounts were so deceptive that he could not even explain it. He then pushed the Average Daily Balance as the reason for my interest charge, claiming I was charged interest on my average daily balance for the previous month, but instead of explaining this to me, he continued to say it was too complicated for consumers to understand how they calculate how much they owe. I requested this complicated algorithm, because as a consumer you have a right to know what you are paying. Evidently, these things are so deceptive, it is a secret. According to the billing error policy, I should not have interest at all, yet Wells Fargo is attempting to deceive me into an extra profit for their company. I have written a letter to complain about my interest charge, since it should be {$0.00}, but have not yet received a reply.

Problem with personal statement of dispute
Complaint: I write in response to Wells Fargo 's reply to my complaint regarding my Wells Fargo application XXXX and CFPB Case No. XXXX. I consider the company 's response to my query very flimsy and good for nothing because they tried to cover up an unfair business practice of not catering to the needs of their valued and poor customers who entrust the safe keeping of their their meager financial resources in their care.
For instance, Wells Fargo 's response states : " When this application was processed no information was obtained from an outside source other than your credit history from XXXX. '' Nonetheless the company failed to inform the CFPB that over the years I improved my credit score and have the following scores with the three major credit bureaux in the country : XXXX ( XXXX ), XXXX ( XXXX ), and XXXX ( XXXX ). That said, the company should have at least given me a chance with a credit line to show good faith in a valued customer but Wells Fargo as usual discouraged me and was unfair in its judgment.
Furthermore, I want to bring to your attention the flimsy excuse from Wells Fargo in the last paragraph of page one of its response to my previous complaint that reads : " Also, we are unable to speak for other financial institutions regarding their underwriting criteria ''.
The statement above speaks to the fact that Wells Fargo, unlike other financial institutions in the United States that are customer-centered, it lacks the capacity to give its striving customers a chance to improve their livelihood but is only an exploitative profiteering financial institution that sucks the blood of poor people to enrich themselves at the expense of their customers.
I assertively say this because other financial institutions ( like the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, for instance ) are making genuine efforts and headways to create an enabling financial environment to improve the livelihood of their valued customers. Whereas, unfortunately, Wells Fargo is only interested in suppressing its customers. The fact that I have a personal and a business account and my wife has a personal account with Wells Fargo shows the level of commitment we have to this institution. Hence, to verify that they could not give us a single break of a {$5000.00} loan warrants the imposition of stringent financial fines on Wells Fargo for unfair business practices.
In view of the foregoing, I request that Wells Fargo be thoroughly investigated and fined for unfair business practice.
Sincerely, XXXX XXXX XXXX, Sr., Ed. D.

Charged too much interest
Complaint: Lately, past few months noticed my interest was {$68.00} on {$3300.00} balance. Is n't this way too high. I pay {$100.00} a month and only get accounted for only a few dollars. This past statement was for Wells Fargo, billing period XX/XX/XXXX to XX/XX/XXXX. Something has to be wrong. This is ridiculous.

Complaint: I sold items online to a buyer in another state ( Idaho ). The buyer went to the bank with my information and made a CASH deposit in the amount of {$6000.00} I called the bank to verify that the cash deposit was made and that the money was posted to my account. They told me that the cash was in my account so after confirming this, I gave the buyer ownership of the items that I was selling. The next day I woke up and the money was being " held '' by the bank ( my money ) and it was not available. Now the bank says that they wo n't give me the money because the person told them that they " deposited the money under duress ''. I 'm not sure what that means but I sold an item for CASH and when the money was in my account I believed our transaction to be complete. I have receipts and other proof of this VALID transaction. THE BANK IS HOLDING MY MONEY HOSTAGE!!!!

High-pressure sales tactics
Complaint: This all began when my loan originated for this consumer vehicle loan. This account has been with Wells Fargo Dealer Services for a few years now and I feel as though the dealership along with Wells Fargo tag teamed and quickly coerced with sales tactics and promises of a low interest rate being a young and inexperienced consumer to quickly close out on a deal with each other. I feel as though it 's unfair and extremely deceptive how they fooled me into signing a loan with a higher interest rate than I anticipated. The dealership took advantage or my race as an XXXX XXXX young adult and my only goal was to co sign for my fathers car loan ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ). The dealership said if we left that same night we 'd lose the deal and we felt pressured to decide on one loan option for an insanely high interest rate. I believe that Wells Fargo could have provided a way lower interest rate which would have made my experience as a consumer much more professional and productive. Now each time I call Wells Fargo which is at least once a month and ask them to investigate they say they 'll escalate and nothing ever happens. I threaten to contact regulators and it almost does n't bother them. I really need you to look into my loan origination because my rights as a consumer were violated and I ca n't do this on my own. My loan account number with Wells Fargo is XXXX.

Complaint: The issue is as follows : Wells Fargo arbitrarily increased my escrow amount by {$220.00} per month starting in XX/XX/XXXX. There was no reason or justification for the increase monthly amount. My escrow balance stood at {$16000.00} as per my XX/XX/XXXX statement. When I applied for my mortgage with Wells Fargo I was told in order to obtain the rate quoted I need to set up a Wells Fargo Checking account to which I agreed. I bank with XXXX and set up an automatic transfer each month to my Wells Fargo ( WF ) checking account and Wells Fargo set up an automatic transfer from my WF checking account to my WF Mortgage account. This has been in effect since the mortgage started in XX/XX/XXXX. I made repeated calls to WF asking why my escrow was increasing and not once received any justification. I know my insurance has gone down by {$100.00} per annum and my taxes remain unchanged. In XX/XX/XXXX WF stopped the automatic transfer from my WF checking account to my WF mortgage account. There was no communication and no justification to stop the transfer. My automatic payments from XXXX to my WF checking account continued. The funds in my WF checking account continued to accrue. At this time WF advised I was in default of my mortgage. I protested and advised they created the problem so they should fix. Numerous telephone calls ensued and no one from WF was ever empowered to fix the problem. They maintained throughout that my monthly payment had increased. No funds were transferred from my WF Checking account to my WF mortgage account after XX/XX/XXXX. WF paid my insurance in XX/XX/XXXX and paid my City taxes in XX/XX/XXXX. After which the balance of my escrow was a positive balance of {$520.00} despite no further funds having been received since XX/XX/XXXX. In mid XXXX on a sunday afternoon, my wife and I were served foreclosure notices. At this time I called Wells Fargo up and agreed to pay the necessary funds to make my mortgage account current. WF acknowledged that there were sufficient funds in my escrow to pay the ins and taxes and there was no reason for the increased monthly escrow. In order to make my mortgage current I have to wire the funds from my WF checking account to another WF account. WF was unable to transfer the funds sitting in my account. As a result of the situation brought on by WF I have incurred a bad credit rating and late charges/foreclosure fees which are not justified. I believe WF have at best been negligent in the handling of my mortgage account and perhaps fraudulent in their attempt to extract additional funds from me without any justification that enables them to sit on my excess funds without paying me any interest etc. The bully tactics of pushing me into foreclosure and the negative ramifications are something I am unable to fight as a consumer. WF was never able to address my concerns and have never made themselves available to address the situation.

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I have had a private student loan with wells Fargo since 2009 i have made over 48 payments and have never been late only when they did n't allow me on forbearance i have tried to refinance my loan to get the current competitive rate since it is 8.9 %. They simply use the credit score which in my opinion is only one factor. they should consider that i have been able to afford to make my payments on time even though they are charging me super high interest. it does n't make sense that they can keep taking advantage of me because i dont have perfect credit. i would think that the payments i have made without defaulting should count as merit.

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: I attended school at XXXX College, SC, in XX/XX/XXXX-XX/XX/XXXX. I received a XXXX scholarship in the amount of {$7500.00}, and the remaining balance of the tuition was paid for by the good graces of my parents. They paid around {$7500.00} of their own money to cover the remaining tuition. 9 years later, in XX/XX/XXXX, I received a notice from debt collector, XXXX XXXX, explaining that I needed to begin paying my loan off or I would be sent to collections. They made threats, saying my credit score would be effected, and that they would start garnishing my wages. They harassed me so often that year, that I began paying them in XX/XX/XXXX or XX/XX/XXXX. $ XXXX.month, for a " rehabilitation '' period of 9 months. Well, i paid them until XX/XX/XXXX, when I felt suddenly something was very wrong with this " loan ''. Sure enough, when i requested a promissory note, they never sent me one. Multiple times. Nothing. I also never received any formal documentation in the mail, not once. I then stopped making payments after XX/XX/XXXX. Then, suddenly, in XX/XX/XXXX, I began receiving calls from XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ). They too were making threats of wage garnishments and credit hits. I asked them what loan they were even talking about, and they said that I took out a loan from Wells Fargo. I then told them that no, I did not ever take a loan out for school at XXXX College, that i was on baseball scholarship, and my parents paid for the rest of the tuition with their own money. They told me that they dont know anything other than " well, it may have been a small loan, maybe for books or something, and that 's maybe why I do n't remember it ''. Not knowing if any of this was true, I refused to pay them and asked them to put me on the Do Not Call List. The calls persisted, and I asked them again several times from XX/XX/XXXX- XX/XX/XXXX to put me on the do not call list. The gentlemen on the other end of the line had a nasty attitude. He spoke down to me, as if I was a bad person for not paying my loans. Finally, beginning in this month, XX/XX/XXXX, I no longer received any calls. However, my credit has been ruined, I 've paid them $ 400+, and I still do n't have a promissory note ( because it does n't exist ).
It is my belief that Wells Fargo forged this account without my, or my parents knowledge. I never have set foot in a Wells Fargo in my life, nor has myself or my parents ever banked with Wells Fargo. I am seeking advice/ legal/ financial restitution for this fraudulent act against myself. I believe this is the tip of the iceberg, as I am currently investigating yet another loan, this one through XXXX XXXX.

Problem with additional products or services purchased with the loan
Complaint: On XXXX XXXX XXXX I took out a deferment for 2 months this is where my problems begin. First problem they reported as late payments to the credit bureaus spoke with them several times was told they would take care of that. they also charge me a late fee I spoke with the lady on XXXX due to a negative credit score I had to pay an extra {$600.00} down payment for housing I started making regular payments as of XXXX XXXX I paid {$350.00} up to this point never have I missed a payment or had a late payment iv always pays a little more from the date of purchasing car, XXXX XXXX of XXXX my payments were XXXX XXXX I noticed another late fee saying I still owed for XXXX, my payments went up I called several times got the runaround finally spoke to XXXX at Wells Fargo dealership services. on XXXX/XXXX/XXXX an unauthorized transaction came out of my account for {$100.00} XXXX reversed that charge close my account set me up with a new account informed me my payment went up due to Collateral protection insurance I sent him verification of insurance for the prior two years he refunded me the money reimburse me. 2 late charges for only 2 months yet again in XXXX they 're saying I owe. it was like I never spoke with the manager at all and they refused to go back through my account and figure out what was going on spoke with them again they did n't know what I was talking about I asked them to please refer to their notes once again they gave me the run-around the almost {$300.00} I paid for protection insurance was not refunded to my account but yet they kept the insurance open and it just turned around and went straight back as a payment to the insurance. XXXX XXXX I received a letter threatening to repossess my vehicle if I did not pay a past due amount of I believe XXXX due to that being my only means of transportation I 'm a single mother of XXXX children and we recently suffered a devastating disaster which affected my health I was not physically emotionally or mentally able to deal with them at this point so I just paid the money. Then I realized that for some reason Wells Fargo checked my credit score it 's a hard inquiry which lowered my credit again. I believe on XXXX XXXX I made another payment of XXXX XXXX XXXX I made another payment paid well over {$1200.00} the month of XXXX and XXXX I received a letter saying I would be receiving a check to reimburse me for the late charges incurred from the time of my deferment and the collateral protection insurance if I had paid my account up-to-date as of XXXX XXXX which I did so I never received anything instead more late charges and phone calls starting from XXXX XXXX to XXXX XXXX. Monday through Saturday all day long some automated voice messaging systems and some live people it is XXXX XXXX and to this day they 're still charging me for the protection insurance and they 're saying that I am behind they also put several delinquencies on my credit report they have financially drained me the loan was originally for {$17000.00} to this day I have paid over {$25000.00} and they 're trying to tell me I still owe XXXX {$1000.00} that is just for the insurance and during the months of XXXX and XXXX when the manager started crediting my account and figuring it out they conveniently had an error in their system and I was unable to get any statements for those months
