Closing on a mortgage

Mortgage: Conventional home mortgage

Complaint: I applied on a refinance mortgage loan with my existing mortgage bank J.G Wentworth - to eliminate the PMI cost. All the process was done online. My current loan had an escrow statement balance of {$3700.00} the homeowner insurance was paid for the entire year. During the closing process I asked several times if the escrow balance on my existing mortgage loan was going to be returned and when. They told each time that that was going to be returned to me after the current loan was paid off. So I proceed with the closing process, they send the closing disclosure and details. it showed the loan paid off amount of {$370.00}, the new loan amount and all the closing costs detailed. In the new escrow estimates included my 2019 tax payment amount and homeowner insurance reserve for 8 months. So all the numbers make sense, once again I asked to my loan processor and underwriter to confirm that the escrow balance on the old mortgage loan was going to be returned in full, they said. They also asked me to reach out to the customer service department for my existing loan, which I did. I also asked for the pay off amount to confirm the that the numbers shown on the Loan Disclosure, and the numbers matched. On XXXX XXXX we closed. Twenty days after the closing I contacted J.G. Wentworth and asked where was my money for my old escrow account, each time they refused to provide the amount, and they told it will sent after the apply the wire transfer and show the account Paid. After a month and half of waiting, I received a check for {$490.00} dollars. I immediately contacted them, spoke with a few supervisors and each time I was given a different story. One said that they had a note on the account that the customer requested the escrow to be netted to the payoff. I asked for a proof of that, they gave me the run around, once again. I told them that I had copies of all documents I signed, and I was NEVER asked if that was something I wanted to do. what makes me more upset is that I NEVER requested or signed any documents that indicated for my escrow to be netted with the payoff amount. I reminder that if they looked at the account notes, I called several times before the closing to asked on how long would take to get the money for the escrow balance. My other argument was that if they netted the escrow to the payoff amount, why my payoff amount didn't decrease? it was the same amount they provide all along and that this was never disclosed on the loan documents. I also reached out to the loan processor and adjuster ( keep in mind that this is the same mortgage company ). He said that they ( J.G Wentworth ) provided them with the payoff amount. the other said of J.G. Wentworth claims that they ( J.G Wentworth -- New loans ) asked to net the escrow with the payoff amount. During the closing process - No where in the documents indicated that J.G Wentworth " decided '' to net my escrow with the payoff amount without really crediting the {$3700.00} that I had or the {$3200.00} they took from my escrow account. Two weeks later they send me a letter that my account was sold to XXXX XXXX. I have purchased XXXX homes in my lifetime dealt with mortgage lenders but never in my life dealt with such dishonest bank. In addition to lied to a customer, they provided incorrect loan disclosure to keep money that didn't belong to them. if my payoff amount was {$370000.00} and that was what all the statements and documents had. what did they did with my {$3200.00}. they even charged interests for days that the loan was already they received a transfer amount and it took them a month to showed that the loan was " Paid '' I'm sure I'm not the first nor the last person that this dishonest bank stole from. If they do this to 100 or 500 customers with small amounts ( small for them ) they know, nobody will spend $ XXXX or $ XXXX to hire a lawyer. Obviously they do this often to provide false information and gain time to avoid for the customers to cancel the closing process. They took longer to process the paperwork to paid the loan and return what they felt to send out of my escrow of {$3700.00}. If you are thinking of doing business with J.G. Wentworth be careful they are the most dishonest bank out there.

Complaint: I own 2 homes. Historically I lived in one and had the other set up as investment property and rented it out. I am being transferred by my employer to within 20 minutes of my other house and have had no tenants since XXXX, so I was refinancing it to change it from investment property to a primary resident. With then the plan to either rent out or sell the home I have been living in. I provided the lender JW Wentworth with all of this information. I provided all of my paperwork to prove eligibility within 2 days. Several days later we were ask again to send in all of the same documents that we had provided. Both my husband and I have credit scores over 800 and income of over 200k. With no negative marks on our credit. This should have been an easy close mortgage. We agreed on a XXXX refinance at 3.75 % with no appraisal required as the home is worth over 600k. This loan was to be 30 years fixed and no points. When the federal reserve lowered the interest rate, we requested to use the option in our original documents and also requested a reduction. After a lot of stalling, the reduced the rate to XXXX %, still with no fees, no points and no appraisals. The loan came back from underwriting that we were fully approved for credit wise and house wise, except that they wanted us in the house before we would close it. As we wanted some cash out to finish a few repairs and to move, this was not really possible. We were told by the loan officer originally that a letter from my explaining the situation, a letter from my employer and proof that the homes were over 200 miles apart would be all that was needed to show that it was going to be a primary residence. All of this was provided in the original packet. We appealed this and sent in proof that we had already change the address on several accounts, at our bank etc. The appeal came back that we needed to list it as a 2nd home and they could approve us. We were told that nothing would change in the terms. After another 4 days. we were called and told that we would now need a full appraisal and the terms would be changes since this was different. This has put us in an awful position as we clearly told them from the beginning that we need this loan closed before XX/XX/31. We will now be starting completely over with a different lender.

Complaint: J G Wentworth missed my closing date by 5 days. I was finally informed that Wentworth did not service land lease properties, even though they knew from the beginning as stated on the purchase agreement, that the condo was on corporate leased land. That was the ONLY reason they gave. Escrow by this time was in it's fourth week, fees paid, deposits, inspectors, title and realtors, spending unbelievable amounts of time on the process. Leased land properties are very common in southern California and Wentworth cost everyone concerned thousands of dollars in time and money. This was through XXXX XXXX, executive membership program. Incidentally, recommended by Wentworth broker.

Complaint: Lender : J.G. Wentworth. XXXX. On the 3days before closing CD, they disclosed {$43.00} a month for PMI and that was what I was expecting at closing. The final CD had {$58.00} per month. A {$15.00} per month increase surprise. I called the company and asked them to fix it. They said the only way to try was to stop the closing. I literally had moving trucks at the door waiting to close. So I couldnt delay closing I asked them to compensate me for the difference. They said no. That amounts close to {$2000.00}. I dont think its right to blindside me by increasing my mi payment at closing.

Complaint: In XX/XX/2018 I was approved for a mortgage with JGWentworth. On XX/XX/XXXX I made an offer on a property and the seller accepted. I have paid {$500.00} for home inspection, {$550.00} for appraisal and {$500.00} for deposit. On XX/XX/XXXX we were suppose to go to settlement but we didnt. I had to sign an extension addendum for XX/XX/XXXX which settlement still didnt happen. I was told I needed to pay down 4 credit cards in order to get approved for the XXXX grant. I then paid {$1000.00} total for the 4 credit cards. Another extension was signed for XX/XX/XXXX which didnt happen because they ( JGWentworth ) told me I had to pay off my car note {$380.00} in order to go to settlement. I then found out that we wasnt going yet again because I was short {$1500.00} I needed to close. A new extension was signed for XX/XX/XXXX and still didnt go to settlement. I spoke to my lender to find out how much exactly did I need. Mr XXXX told me I needed {$6100.00}, he asked how much did I have and I replied {$5500.00}. When then had the seller sign another extension for XX/XX/XXXX. I have the {$6100.00} I need to close and now its another problem. They wouldnt accept the {$3000.00} gift from a friend in order for me to close and the seller had her agent email me a termination of the contract so that she can put her house back on the market. Due to the negligence of JGWentworth I am out of my money. I have done everything asked of me to get this done. Everything I have paid in order to get this property. Its not fair my money was spent on a property that I dont have.

Complaint: I sold 132 annuity payments to J.G. Wentworth in XX/XX/XXXX, {$1900.00} each. Totaling {$250000.00}. I received {$30000.00}. I contacted them to see if we could renegotiate the deal but was told there was nothing they could do. The payments start XX/XX/XXXX and end XXXX. I was led to believe that the reason I received so little was because of the risk they were taking. There is no risk. The payments are guaranteed and insured. Complaint: I took out a mortgage with J.G. Wentworth. I wont get int the numerous issues I had getting them to provide timely information, but on the day of signing, they provided me documentation with incorrect amount listed to go into escrow. The amount listed was short {$300.00}. They drew up new documents and I signed them one week later. Three weeks later, I receive my statement for my first payment. I reviewed the numbers and the amounts are broken out accurately on statement. I send them the payment the next day. The following day I receive notice that my account has been sold to XXXX XXXX. I called J.G. Wentworth and they assured me the payment sent to them would be forwarded to XXXX. It was. However, the information sent to XXXX did not include the updated escrow amounts and thus, just over {$300.00} was not included in the escrow payment, but rather applied to the principal. That is twice that J.G. Wentworth has mad errors in regards to my mortgage that if I had not found could have left me in serious financial trouble down the road. This is simply unacceptable. Please note, I have contacted XXXX and have straitened this issue out with them. XXXX was very helpful in resolving this issue. However, the next customer of J.G. Wentworth may not be so fortunate. One point of interest to me is that J.G. Wentworth & XXXX have the same mailing address for their loan payments. My guess is they are one and the same company, or at least subsidiaries or otherwise connected. Thank you for your time.

Complaint: Complaint against JG Wentworth Mortage/Home Lending On XX/XX/19, I made a payment to my Mortage company that was significantly larger that the amount due. My expectation was that this would follow the normal process, and the excess would be applied to principal. Instead, JGW took the excess, and considered it a forward payment on XX/XX/XXXX. Upon seeing the mistake on their website, I contacted them, and was assured that the mistake would be corrected. It was not, and 4 more contacts were made in XX/XX/XXXX, and in each instance, I was assured that the problem would be corrected. On XX/XX/19, I was told that their computer system was incapable of making this change, and that they could not correct the error. Although this may seem like a minor problem, please note that I made several principle payments in XX/XX/XXXX, and my monthly interest cost has dropped from {$1300.00} to {$900.00}, so XXXX is awarding themselves {$400.00} for their incompetence. Their customer service in this situation has also been horrible, they make promises to call me back with resolutions, and never do, and when I submitted an e-mail about the situation, they failed to provide a suitable response.
