Complaint: Stoneleigh Recovery Associates/The Bureau did not validate the collection placed on my account and was required by law to remove the collection from my file in XXXX 2017. 60 days later they placed the collection back in my file without providing myself or my legal representative proof of debt validation. I have not been contacted via telephone, email or written correspondence since the collection was first removed from my account.

Threatened to contact someone or share information improperly

Debt collection: Credit card debt

Talked to a third-party about your debt
Complaint: At approximately XXXX on Thursday, XXXX XXXX, a gentleman by the name of XXXX XXXX contacted my fiance on her cell phone. He said he was calling from XXXX XXXX XXXX and asked to speak to me. She informed the collector that I was not available. He then asked her if she wanted to discuss the matter. Without having her verify my info, he actually provided it to her ... He proceeded to tell her about a debt that I owe to XXXX XXXX regarding a XXXX XXXX account. She offered to make payments of XXXX dollars monthly and he told her that that amount was not good enough and that it would take forever to pay off. He then told her about other things that I was making payments on that seemed to be in good standing and could n't understand why I could n't be in good standings with them. My fiance was upset and did n't understand why he was bullying her about other bills. He disclosed my information to someone who is not even on the card and has no affiliation to the debt owed. He violated my rights and upset my 6 month XXXX fiance who was just trying to get us back on track with payments.

Written notification about debt

Debt collection: Auto debt

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: I received a letter from Stoneleigh stating that they are the collectors for an account I allegedly have with XXXX XXXX. I sent a validation letter to Stoneleigh to tell them to provide me with a contract that has my signature that ties me to this debt. This letter was received by them ( which I enclosed a copy of tracking ) on XXXX XXXX, 2017. They have not responded with any documentation that I owe this debt. But they sent me another letter with a settlement offer that I received XXXX XXXX, 2017 but it was dated for XXXX XXXX, 2017. So even after receiving my debt validation letter they chose to ignore it and continue to try to collect on this alleged debt. If no signature can be provided on a contract that bears my name, an agreement that shows that they can collect on the debt, or a validation of the amount this item I require a letter from them stating they cease collection activities on this account. In the letter I also asked to stop collection activities until they are able to provide such proof within the 30 day allotted time and they have violated that. According to the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act 15 USC 1692g Sec. 809 ( b ), they are bound to provide me with such proof. Anyone can send a letter stating I owe an amount and that I am required to pay so I need proof that I actually owe this company.

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: I do not know

Debt is not yours
Complaint: Someone called my home telephone, using faked caller ID information " XXXX XXXX- '' and number " XXXX '' at XXXX XXXX. EDT on XXXX XXXX XXXX. They left a message identifying themselves as a " debt collector '' named " Stoneleigh Recovery Associates '' and requesting that I call XXXX. ( The first word of the name was unintelligible but I did a XXXX search for " XXXX '' and the results indicated a vast number of complaints about a scammer called " Stoneleigh Recovery Associates ''. The scammer is apparently trying to get credit card numbers. It is an obvious scam because the faked the caller ID information, in violation of Federal law, and also I have no debts, and so certainly do n't have any bad debts. There also has never been any written notification of any debt, much less any written notification of any past due debt. Since I have no business relationship with this party and it obviously is not a legitimate debt collection call, this call is in violation of the Revised Telemarketing Sales Rule, since my phone number is on the DoNotCall list. I have attached to this complaint a copy of the scammer 's recorded message.

Communication tactics

Debt collection: Credit card debt

You told them to stop contacting you, but they keep trying
Complaint: I received a call from Stoneleigh Recovery Associates XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, IL XXXX. A " XXXX XXXX '' left me a message to return his call at XXXX, The call was spoofed as " XXXX '' I guess to appear as a local number so I would answer. I returned the call and talked to XXXX XXXX and he advised me it was a an attempt to collect on an old XXXX XXXX credit card debt. I advised him I did not wish to speak to him about and and asked he not call me any more and he kept pushing me telling me to handle my responsibilities, get out my check book and the whole nine yards. he just refused to accept that I did not want to speak to him. My issue with XXXX XXXX is between myself and them. If they have chosen to sell the debt some day i may be able to resolve it. My complaint is this guy just continued to badger me over and over. He claims it was recorded. Please ask for the recording. the call was from XXXX which is my cell phone and i was at work. I do n't believe that spoofing numbers is allowable under the FDCPA Section 807 : A debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of any debt. I also think that the continual repetition of " taking care of my obligation, get my check book '' and general attempts to badger me simply because I refused to talk to him could be construed as a violation of section 808 as well : A debt collector may not use unfair or unconscionable means to collect or attempt to collect any debt. <P/> I want the calls stopped and I want an investigation into the violations I cited above

Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Account information incorrect

Some time in XXXX a received a statement from XXXX XXXX stating that they sold the vehicle and I owed them {$440.00} plus cents. Sometime in XXXX I received a collection letter from a third party collection agency stating that I owed XXXX XXXX {$20000.00} and some cents, so I immediately contacted XXXX and they said they made a mistake and they sent me an incorrect statement and that I owe them the {$20000.00}

Taking/threatening an illegal action

Debt collection: Credit card

Threatened to sue on too old debt
Complaint: My complaint is quite simple, by law a collection agency must submit correspondence to let a consumer know that a debt they either acquired by ownership, or simply by proxy on a vast power of attorney process is no longer collectible. The attached letter from XXXX XXXX XXXX stipulate just that, and they have started to process of removing the XXXX collection from my credit report. A second company called XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX stipulates that they purchased the debt from XXXX NA at the same time. They like XXXX can not enforce a debt that is considered non-collectible. So, if the debt is simply too old to collect, and the fact that XXXX can not collect, they sent the collection to a new collection agency called Stoneleigh Recovery Associates. This is the third collection agency that simply has no recourse to collect on an antiquated debt. XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX shows no proof of ownership or collection proxy, then why is the very same account remaining on my credit report from any collection agency. This is an example where a collection agency is using my personal credit rating as XXXX to collect on an old account that has already been removed from my credit reports by the original creditor, XXXX XXXX. These collection processes are highly scrutinized by the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. It is a re-aging process on debts that have long outlived their usefulness to be maintained on credit. These collection processes are the main reason why even the FTC considers the national collection process broken. I know that the CFPB and its Director XXXX XXXX are before Congress currently on the usefulness of the CFPB, and I make the claim that it is the best recourse that an American consumer must fight the corruption that exist in the debt collection process by thousands of collection agencies that could care less about my constitutional and civil rights. This account as well as my personal information need to be purged and erased from credit immediately and permanently.

Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Medical

Debt is not mine
Complaint: I have been trying for months to get this company to close accounts they have with my name that is not mine. When I think these accounts have been closed a few months i get collection notice. This has been very very frustrating and time consuming. I received a notice today, 1 ) I called the collection agency on the notice Stoneleigh, I spoke with XXXX XXXX that said they had XXXX accounts in their system, XXXX for {$73.00} that have been CLOSED, XXXX for {$220.00} ( amount on the notice ) still opened. 2 ) Then I called XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( the company that placed the account with Stoneleigh ), spoke with XXXX XXXX ext XXXX. She claimed there were XXXX accounts in my name but she shows XXXX opened ; XXXX for {$530.00} and XXXX {$220.00}. I told her that these accounts should have been closed. she insisted they are still owed to XXXX XXXX. I asked her for XXXX XXXX number and she said that she does not have a number. She then gave me a number, when I asked her for the extension she said that she googled it and did not have an extension or contact person. This was the same number I called a few months ago which said that I did not owe them. I called the number after being transferred about 5x, being on the phone about 1 1/2 hours I hang up and called XXXX XXXX again. This time XXXX XXXX then claimed I had another account for {$1800.00}. When i told her this had been resolved and I had a letter from THEIR account showing this has been closed, she then transferred me to a XXXX XXXX ext XXXX. XXXX XXXX, then claimed I had XXXX accounts still OPENED, XXXX for {$1800.00} ( which I had the letter showing this has been closed ) XXXX for {$530.00}, XXXX for {$220.00} & XXXX for XXXX. I told her that all these were closed and I need a letter to get these resolved. she claimed she did not have the letter from the attorney. I told her that I needed this resolved to please hold the line 2 mins let me send her a fax so that I ensure they receive the fax, she said that she do not want to hold that i should call back to see if they receive the fax. I attached this letter to this complaint. This has been going on for over 7 years, everytime i think these are resolved years/months after I get collection notices. This is very BAD practice trying to collect debts that is not owed. They are very unprofessional and do not try to understand or hear what one is saying. See above how many times the stories changed, they are trying to collect money that is not owed and this is very BAD. This is taking alot of my time. This will also be reported to Georgia State Attorney & Federal trade commission. This is the 3rd complaints that I have filed for this same situation with this company XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. The previous Case number : XXXX & XXXX. I demand that your company permanently and forever closed this matter and confirm in writing that the above matter has been immediately terminated.

Improper contact or sharing of info

Debt collection: I do not know

Contacted employer after asked not to
Complaint: Stoneleigh Recovery Associates LLC ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, IL XXXX ( XXXX ) XXXX XXXX continues to call and harass me over a supposed debt collection matter at my place of employment. I have informed them on more than one occasion that the number they are calling is a work number and that I can not accept these types of calls at work. I have pictures of phone log from this week with calls made to my work number every day this week. Today XXXX XXXX from Stoneleygh Recovery Associates XXXX called my work number and I again informed him not to call me at work, he continued harassing me saying that there was no other way to contact me and that he was attempting to collect a debt. Earlier this week someone from Stoneleigh Recovery Associates LLC spoke to my boss and informed him that they were calling looking for me to settle a debt I owed. Stoneleigh 's aggressive call tactics are harassing and have put my job in jeopardy. I was told at work that I can not receive these types of calls anymore. I have no other recourse than to file a complaint against them for repeatedly calling my place of employment after I have asked them not to and for threatening/intimidating me by providing private information about a personal debt matter to my boss at work. Stoneleigh Recovery Assets LLC is repeatedly contacting me at my place of employment after being told that my employer prohibits it. I have tried to call them after work on numerous occasions and can never reach anyone. I am concerned someone has my personal information that is not a legitimate company and will use my information illegally.
