Complaint: Currently, I have a principal retirement payment taken out monthly in addition to my usual payment plus escrow. I want change this. In the middle of the holidays, I called the mortgagor, Santander, to make a change. They blocked access based on both the last XXXX digits of my SSN, and the whole SSN. The response was that it was incorrect. I know my SSN. They do too, as my tax forms ( XXXX, XXXX ) arrive at my address with the correct SSN. After that I tried to access a person and got cut off. I have run into this before with Santander. They obstruct for some reason ant interaction with their clients.
When I tried to set up this accelerated payment, they resisted my efforts, until I filed a complaint with CFPB. Then they complied. It appears to me that the only way to deal with this bank is through your agency.

Complaint: I closed my bank account with Santander Bank after having a huge number ( XXXX ) of NSF fees taken ... this series of fees was the direct result of a collection agency named XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX, NJ ) had wrongfully taken out a court order to remove all monies from my checking account with Santander. The local Santander branch manager here in XXXX XXXX, XXXX location, a XXXX XXXX, said that the fees would be waived if the case were waived by the district court judge. The judge did waive the court order, but my NSF fees were not refunded ; read on.
The collection agency, XXXX. were already receiving approx. $ XXXX/paycheck, every other week, via wage attachment. Here is what happened : wages were garnished on a Thursday, and the very next day, Friday, my entire checking account was emptied out. XXXX dollars for me, for anything, for two more weeks until next pay. I had to borrow to survive, and at high interest.
I provided the DC judge, XXXX court officers, and XXXX. with copies of XXXX supporting documents from the bank and payroll dept. of my employer. XXXX released the money after receiving the letter. The DC judge did rule in my favor to have the order reversed.
Meanwhile, at Santander Bank, I was told that the XXXX NSF fees would not be reversed, " because our legal department says that the court ordered action was not illegal ''. So, they kept {$380.00} in fees.
I waited for a couple of months, to be sure that all outstanding items had cleared, and having discontinued my auto-deposit of paycheck to XXXX, and went to the local branch on XXXX in XXXX XXXX to close out this account on XXXX XXXX. I wrote a check for {$120.00} to cover overdraft, received {$0.00} back in pennies, andI was told that the account was closed, that I would receive mailed notification as per this action. I did not receive any documentation on the spot ; I was told that this would be mailed. I waited. I checked my home mailbox, and my XXXX XXXX XXXX
I received NSF " postcards '' from Santander instead. I was horrified to find out today, XXXX XXXX, that this account was still open, and that XXXX had sent several items since the " account closed '' date, ( incurring numerous fees, several that I could see on the assistant manager 's screen were " sustained overdraft fees '', each of these {$35.00}. I was told today that there was no record that this account was ever closed.
When does this stop? Why were n't these items denied by the bank, flat-out, ( since the account was supposed to have been closed? ) WHY was n't this account closed on XXXX XXXX? WHY was n't I contacted by email or phone, and only by mail? I sincerely believe that these delays are a scam. As I already stated, this account should have been closed a month ago.
Additionally, today, XXXX XXXX, the assistant manager told me that it would be a WEEK before I could expect a phone call from the manager. More time to amass more {$35.00} fees.
I just now, went online to see if I could access this account online. Having believed that this account was closed, I have n't tried this until now XXXX on XXXX XXXX. Guess what? I can still get online access.

Complaint: There was fraudulent activity on my account and I was told that I may just get my money back right away or I may get some paper work in the mail first. I said that was fine, well a week goes by and non paper work and no credit. I went to a branch and they told me in 7 business days id get a provisional credit to my account while they further the investigation. Well nothing still. No one has contacted me about anything and no mail. I call the bank today and the rep was rude, they got loud with me and told me that it may take up to 90 days for me to get my money back. This is unacceptable customer service. I am switching banks asap.

Complaint: Hi have an unsecured line of credit with Santander Bank. I also have XXXX checking accounts, a savings account for my son, and my HELOC with Santander bank. I use the unsecured line of {$5000.00} as my overdraft protection account. The interest rate on that account is aggressive, but it does n't bother me because I do not keep an open balance on there for long. In fact, I transfer money over very quickly and the check daily for any additional interest that may be tabbed to that account so I can pay it off. However, the account is set up incorrectly. The online interest balance does not match what is printed on the paper statements I receive in the mail. When I pay the interest online, it is not credited against the interest due somewhere in the account, and I am then billed for interest in a paper statement. However, the balance online is reported as zero. I have called about this numerous times. They tell me the online account reporting does not reflect everything and I have to rely on the paper statements. However, I pay everything online, so I continue to transfer money over to that account, but it is not peroperly reflected anywhere. I have asked for a transcript of this account for the last 2 years, but they will not give me XXXX. I have hiked my complaints all the way up to the main office, but they tell me I need to call customer service. I have put everything in writing but they seem to not understand. I most recently was reported for 60 days late for {$7.00} this past XXXX and XXXX. I used money from this account and paid it back the same week and the next week. I then paid interest the following week. The balance showed XXXX once I paid, and I do not know why they would hand bill me for {$7.00} interest but not report it as interest due online for 60 days. This is very frustrating. I have perfect credit and am never late on any accounts. This small account has caused a great deal of problems for me and is negatively reported on my credit report now. I am not getting any cooperation from this bank. I have had my main checking account for XXXX years, and I do not appreciate being ignored when I point out a legitimate issue with the setup and billing on this account.

Complaint: I have a XXXX lien showing up on the Title to my home that I need subordinated in order to qualify for a rate & term refinance. I am trying to pay off my 2nd mortgage which was taken out when I purchased the property, and fix my adjustable rate on my primary mortgage. Both of my current mortgages were taken out at the time of purchase, in XXXX of 2005. This XXXX lien from Sovereign bank needs to be subordinated, and it benefits them to subordinate it. I have made all payments on it in a timely manner, and by subordinating the lien Sovereign moves into a 2nd lien position, & the transaction will provide me with less monthly overhead, freeing up money to ensure that I continue making the payments for the Sovereign lien ... Sovereign refuses to subordinate this 3rd lien and will not provide an explanation as to why ... It is advantageous for them to do so, and makes sense for all parties. I need to do this refi, and in order to make it happen I need them to agree to subordinate ...

Complaint: Santander bank is constantly calling and leaving robotic messages. I do not have an account with them and they are asking for someone named " XXXX ''. They call a couple times a day and leave messages saying that " XXXX '' should call and enter a PIN to retrieve her message about her account. A search on the web revealed that there have been others who have had this happen, and when they contacted Santander Bank, the agent said that they could not remove the telephone number on file. This is outrageous. I have never done business with this bank, and they have the WRONG number.
