Complaint: I have a temoultuouls problem with Portfolio Recovery Associates. As an update to my credit report they have closed the account XXXX ( {$440.00} ) and XXXX ( {$450.00} ) with XXXX ; XXXX ( {$440.00} ) and XXXX ( {$450.00} ), with XXXX. I received a letter from them stating the account is still open but the bureaus are reporting these accounts closed. As a courtesy to me, I would like these accounts closed and deleted. I would not like to receive anymore letters from PRA.

Complaint: I have called Portfolio Recovery numerous times to stop calling me. They are looking for someone else. They repeatedly call, threaten, etc. They even started calling my place of employment looking for someone else. When ever I call them to tell them to remove the number that it is wrong, they get nasty and hang up on me, forcing me to have to call back and give them the other 3 numbers that they are calling. This is happening on a daily basis before XXXX, every 15 min or so on my cell phone, then they call my place of employment multiple times per day and fill up my voice mail with silence. If I answer the call I get silence. This has to stop. I have sent a written cease-and decist, even threatened to sue them all to no avail.

Complaint: I have Portfolio Recovery Associates harassing me for ouststanding debt that is over 9 years old. The debt was not discharged in bankruptcy but written off due to the age of the debt. The debt is not on ANY credit report for me. The debt was never originally owed to Portfolio Recovery Associates but that has not stopped the harassment. When Portfolio Recovery calls me they reference my address from 8 years ago. Why are they allowed to harass me 5 or 6 times a day from different phone numbers for debt that has been written off. The debt has been written off by the original creditor. Why is Portfolio Recovery Associates allowed to harass me in an attempt to revive an old debt that was written off almost 10 years ago?

This is creating both an embarassing situation in addition to a tense work environment for me. I have sent notices of dispute to this company asking for proof of my application for the credit card debt they claim I owe ; however, they just keep sending me copies of statements wherein charges were made and claiming that is all the proof they need ; never sending me what I asked for.

Our phone message asks four questions of all callers : ( 1 ) a full name ( 2 ) a legitimate callback number ; ( 3 ) time of call and ( 4 ) a detailed message. The message further says if you give us this, we will call you back. We know the debt collectors are looking for someone we do not know. The debt collectors have been looking for this mystery person since XXXX. When you stopped XXXX XXXX from calling, we had about a 8-10 months peace and now Portfolio Recovery Associates calls all the time. Since Portfolio Recovery Associates does the same thing- will NEVER leave a message but call every week day, sometimes 2-3 times per day- we are growing tired of it. If they would follow the prompts and leave the information for which, we ask, we would speak to them, tell them we do not know for whom they seek, and then tell them NOT to call but they continue disrespecting us. Complaint: I keep receiving calls from the debt collection agency. I don't know what it is I owe, when I answered the phone, no one would say anything. The robo calls just kept coming. Then they started calling and asking for me at my job! It had gotten to the point where they were verbally abusing my coworkers. I eventually lost the that job. Now I have a new cell number and they found it, eventhough it was supposed to be non-public and the calls continue. This debt is not on my credit report, I have not received anything in writing.. just this calls. They started using different phone numbers.
