Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: This complaint is on Overton, Russell, Doerr and Donavan of XXXX XXXX, NY XXXX. In mid XX/XX/XXXX, I looked at my Credit report and found a XXXX Collections against me. I called the collections and wrote them a letter trying to find out what this recent issue was. They got back to me and said it was a medical bill from XX/XX/XXXX. I had no knowledge of this bill and asked why they are reporting this as a " new '' collection? They said they just received it. I said that the information was incorrect and the proof was on the bill they sent me. They never corrected it. After going to the hospital and talking to billing. I found out that this bill was in error and it should have never been sent in the first place. In any case, The hospital is contacting the collections and taking this off. However, My credit has been ruined. I was unable to take advantage of several opportunities as my score was too low. I have all the documents and cant understand why Overton knowingly did not report the information as the documentation indicated. You can clearly see all the mistakes that were made. The Bill said XX/XX/XXXX, The credit agencies had XX/XX/XXXX and the docs that Overton sent me said XX/XX/XXXX.

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Medical debt

Debt is not yours
Complaint: I received a medical bill from XXXX XXXX in XXXX that I believed to be in error. I have a medical history of hypercholesterolemia and hypothyroid. These medical conditions require me to get blood work done yearly. I have never paid anything more than {$20.00} for the bloodwork. When I received the bill I called my medical provider and explained the situation. She stated, it must have been coded incorrectly, Ill take care of it. I received 2 more bills in XXXX and called the medical office both times. Each time they said they would call and take care of it. The last communication about this issue was in XXXX, XXXX. I never heard anything more about it. I assumed it was resolved. As of the end of XX/XX/XXXX, the medical provider closed their office and moved to another office, not affiliated with the same hospital. My medical records did not move with her and I had to find another doctor. Fast forward to XXXX, XXXX. I started receiving a bill for {$190.00} from a company called XXXX. I admit I did not call this company as I thought it was odd I was receiving a bill for something that was supposed to be taken care of in XXXX. As I started repeatedly getting bills, I called the company in XXXX of XXXX. They would not do anything and demanded that I pay the bill. I then called the insurance company and talked with them. They looked into it and admitted it looked like a coding error. They tried to contact XXXX XXXX, and got nowhere with them. The hospital billing department refused to look into the situation. The rep from XXXX XXXX XXXX suggested I enlist the help of a 3rd party company that my company uses for these situation, XXXX XXXX. I started communication with them in XX/XX/XXXX. There communication with me was sporadic and I never really got any resolution. See below. On XX/XX/XXXX a letter was drafted by a law from by the name of Overton , Russell , Doerr and Donovan , LLP. I sent a letter to them on XX/XX/XXXX stating that I was not admitting to this debt and I was working with the 3rd party XXXX XXXX. I asked them to take no further action. I also followed up with a phone call. The woman on the phone stated they were not acting as a debt collector ; they were actually acting as the lawyers for XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX a letter written by the law firm was sent to me stating the debt was due. I gave this information to XXXX XXXX. On XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX told me they were in the process of contacting the law firm. I heard nothing more from anyone. I happened to check my credit report on XX/XX/XXXX. It was on this date that I noticed they put this as a negative remark on my credit report. I contacted the law from the next day and inquired why this was done. They told me they heard nothing from XXXX XXXX. I paid the bill in full at this time as I did not want this derogatory remark on my records. Lastly, they told me it is not in their policy to reverse this on a credit report. I immediately emailed XXXX XXXX and updated them on what was going on. They are unable to speak with anyone at the law firm and they are refusing to do anything about it. In conclusion, I still believe this bill was in error and was due to incorrect coding. I believe it is an act of fraud, as the hospital refused to look into the situation. I received bills in XXXX and then nothing again until XXXX, XXXX?! I tried to resolve the issue and gave all the paperwork all the companies requested, yet I got nowhere. I was forced to pay a bill I still believe to be in error, and more importantly I was sent into collections over this and it negatively affected my credit. I take my credit very seriously and if you were to review my credit, you will notice I have paid every bill on time. I am in the process of purchasing a house and I dont need this screwing up my credit. I have contacted both companies ( the law firm and XXXX XXXX ) and am getting nowhere

Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Medical debt

Debt was paid
Complaint: My wife and I are trying to obtain a mortgage and several medical collections showed up on our credit reports damaging our credit scores. All the debts were paid on the companies payment website using my mother-in- laws credit card and confirmation # 's and e-mails were recieved on her email. The Collection Company is : XXXX , XXXX , XXXX and XXXX XXXX located in XXXX XXXX NY . After waiting several weeks for these to be removed from credit bureaus we called on my wife 's account and requested that they send updates to bureaus. A week later they all showed removed and her credit score improved. Mine however were not, so several weeks later I called and they found no proof of payment and said it was still owed.I was on my way to work ( night shift ) so gave them permission to speak with my mother in law as she had the confirmation # and acct #. She spend over 1 1/2 hours trying to get issue resolved with no positive outcome. The rep thought maybe the payment was applied to a different account so she took my mother-in-laws information and was to have a supervisor call her the next morning ( today ). She did a lot more digging into the situation and thinks she had found something that might help track the money. She called back and they refused to even look up anything because she was not the client. The supervisor did get her return call info but refused to call her back because of this. We called call again this morning and they would not speak to me because my mother in law was in the background and the rep could hear her giving advice. They hung up on me. I called back and ended up repaying again using my mother-in-laws credit card. She will have to dispute the original charge to get credit. They need to improve their accounting practices and customer service skills.

Seized or attempted to seize your property
Complaint: 11 years ago I had a life threatening medical issue for which I was hospitalized for over a week. I had no insurance at the time. I cashed in my XXXX IRA to pay the individual doctors, so now I have no retirement funds. I contacted the hospital and set up monthly payments and they agreed. About one year later they handed my debt over to this collection agency. At this time I sent a cease a desist letter to this agency, told them I was paying the hospital directly and they stopped communication. I continued making the payments for 10 years ( about {$5000.00} dollars ). This month I received a notice of a lein placed on my property with no notice of hearing. This agency is now making daily calls to my professional office. Please make it stop.

Written notification about debt

Debt collection: Medical debt

Didn't receive notice of right to dispute
Complaint: I contact the credit collection agency, and told them I never received 1 phone call or a letter from them. I had no idea that I had an unpaid debt. They stated they mailed a letter to my old address, then to much current address. I told them that was false because I never received anything from them. They even verified my address and phone #. So they never bothered to contact me. They said it was a debt back from XX/XX/2018 which would still be false because if they had a bad debt to collect, then it would have to be something that wasn't paid for at least 30 days which would date back into XX/XX/2018. For which I shouldn't have had anything past due at that time. So the medical center is to blame for sending me to collections for something that I wasn't past due on. Debt amount was {$65.00}. I paid them with my credit card on XX/XX/18. I found out about this being reported to my credit through XXXX XXXX. If I would have been notified I would have immediately paid it before it was put on my credit report. Collection agency is : Overton , Russell , Doerr and Donovan , LLP XXXX. Attempts to collect debt not owed

Debt collection: Medical debt

Debt was result of identity theft
Complaint: I XXXX XXXX have had my protective rights under XXXX XXXX State banking laws violated, basically because of an account support associate named XXXX XXXX, who does not understand the difference between a social security number and an EIN for a limited liability company. As you will notice from my attached inserts, a judgment on medical issues was granted against me XX/XX/XXXX. The law firm in question never submitted a complaint where I was legally served while I lived in either upstate XXXX XXXX or the state of XXXX. I current have separate legal counsel working on vacating an illegal judgment by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. This law firm that specializes in medical collections has abused the civil liberties of consumers for decades. The subpoena under CPLR Section 5222 ( b ) does not conform to state regulations in the state of XXXX XXXX on the merits that I was never even issued an original complaint, that XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX too a default judgment against me personally, not corporately. Most important, the judgment is against me personally and my connecting social security number, not any corporate entity such as my limited liability company registered as XXXX XXXX, XXXX. The hold on my {$5700.00} in funds in that account is simply a violation of banking procedures in the state of XXXX XXXX, or any other stare for that measure. My usage of my own money is being held against my rights to said funds, and XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX should be held accountable. A separate complaint will be issued to the National Credit Union Association regarding the oversight. NCUA # XXXX Year Chartered XXXX Employees 326 Primary Regulator I demand release of my LLC account funds immediately.. Since the debt is being stolen from a non-entity connection, Im claiming an identity theft was used to process this hold on funds by XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and that the New York State Bar Association must be informed of this illegal action.

Incorrect information on your report

Credit reporting, credit repair services, or other personal consumer reports: Credit reporting

Account status incorrect
Complaint: I am writing you to dispute the above referenced collection account on my credit report. The original creditor was XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( a medical bill ). I have always paid my bills, and notably before they were due, as the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX could notice by the bills and payments that they have received from me since XX/XX/XXXX. I was through different insurances in the year of XX/XX/XXXX and I always gave my doctors office ( dr. ******* ****** ), any new insurance information I had. I received a letter stating that my bill was going to collection although I never received any bills previously that encompassed the correct amount after being sent to the correct insurance companies, even though I called previously and requested those corrections to the reprocessing. ( see attachments ) I believe, sometime in late XX/XX/XXXXor early XX/XX/XXXX I called XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX billing department and requested them to send the corrected bills. In turn their representative went through my insurances in the various dates of services and decided to run them through the correct insurance providers which I agreed to. The XXXX representative on the phone told me that there was still going to be a balance of 100-something to pay. I requested that she sent me an updated statement so I could verify the payments and I would arrange to pay any outstanding balance. The XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Billing Department representative agreed to this on the phone. ( the proof being that the {$480.00} originally requested was dropped to a lower amount after the final notice ). It is to my sadness to report that the despite the discussion and agreement an updated bill/ Statement never came. I was surprised that instead of a follow-up call or letter from The XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Billing Department, I received a collection notice from Overton , Russell , Doerr and Donovan , LLP. I have since paid the balance that was requested from Overton , Russell , Doerr and Donovan , LLP. ( see attachments ) On a side note, even though it is paid, ( see payment receipt ) Overton , Russell , Doerr and Donovan , LLP did not send the update to the credit agencies even after almost 60 days, and after review of the XXXX, I notice that it could possibly be a trend of theirs ). Since this was an error on the part of the XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Billing Department, and since has created a negative impact on my credit score by negligence on the part of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX Billing Department, reiterating that fact that the original creditor and I had an agreement, ( or contract if you will ), whereas I was supposed to receive an updated bill/statement and I would review and pay any outstanding amount owed, I formally request the immediate removal of the collection account from my credit reports.
