Talked to a third-party about your debt
Complaint: OneMain contacted at least one of my references via telephone. The caller left a voicemail indicating that they were a debt collector calling from OneMain and requesting a call back. My reference called back and was told that OneMain was a debt collector trying to get in touch with me regarding a debt. This is a blatant FDCPA violation.

Unable to receive car title or other problem after the loan is paid off
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I traded my XXXX XXXX XXXX for a XXXX XXXX XXXX. I called One Main Financial for a payoff on the XXXX XXXX, which they stated was good for 30 days. Shortly thereafter, on XX/XX/XXXX, I received a check from One Main Financial for {$700.00} which I deposited. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a notice from One Main Financial stating I owed {$1000.00} because I no longer had insurance on a vehicle they were financing. I contacted One Main Financial in response to the correspondance I received and had a One Main Financial employee fax over the amount she said I owed. The fax she sent stated I owed {$420.00}. I contacted them to state I don't owe and that I received a refund check for {$700.00}. I have been receiving bills from One Main Financial for various amounts. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a bill for {$760.00}. I do not owe the bill. Based on the refund I received, I believe that my car was paid off by XXXX XXXX. The amounts in question are an attempt to collect " FORCE PLACED '' insurance during a time when I no longer owned the vehicle.

Complaint: On Friday the XXXX of XXXX, I applied for a loan for {$10000.00} through One Main Financial in XXXX Iowa. I spoke with XXXX at that office and he requested specific information which I provided. He then asked for various documents which I had to wait until Monday ( today the XXXX ) to provide. When he spoke with me on Friday, he informed me that I was approved for a slight amount over {$6000.00}. When I spoke with him today enroute to XXXX to which I was led to believe was to sign the documents, he informed me that I was not approved due to my alimony not being permanent for the stated amount for 2 years. I was not informed of this when I applied for the loan. My alimony MUST be continued for at least two years. To me this is discrimination.
Additionally, when I spoke with the XXXX office today, I was told that I could use my fianc as a co-signor on the loan and then I was turned down there also due to his recently having completed bankruptcy although his credit score is in the lower fair range.
I am also filing a complaint in that every loan application I attempted to complete today redirected my application directly to ONE MAIN FINANCIAL. I checked the XXXX XXXX website and it automatically shows One Main Financial. When I went to other loan companies, including XXXX XXXX, I was automatically redirected to One Main Financial.
I feel that this is a blatant false and misleading representation by One Main Financial. I also believe that they are intentionally misleading the consumers in their manner of using other companies to direct them to their company and also in the methods they are using to decide the approval or disapproval of loans to certain people. I am divorced and rely strictly on my former husbands alimony and half of his social security of which I presently have to pay almost half of that towards my Medicare cost for the next year.
I would appreciate anything your organization can to do determine and receive a complete and transparent reply from One Main Financial as to WHY they are using other companies to lure consumers to their website only to be strung along thinking they will be receiving their loan ONLY to be turned down upon submission of the paperwork as requested.
To submit all of the paperwork, I spent over XXXX in fax charges that they did not offer to reimburse me for after denying my loan request AFTER I was approved on Friday. XXXX DID NOT TELL ME it was PRE-APPROVED, he simply asked for the paper work for their records. This was heard on the speaker phone by my fianc who lives with me.

I was trying to pay attention to the road and she continued to harass me and would not hang up. I had to hang up on her. It appears she locked my account so I can not make a partial payment.

Complaint: We fell behind on making payments with the company since I am only paid once a month now. We have informed the company that we can only make payments once a month and will eventually get caught up. The have called my husband 's work multiple times even after he told them to stop calling because he can not take personal calls at work. The woman he spoke with today threatened him and said she would call his work everyday until we are " caught up on our bills ''.
