Problem with customer service
Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I paid off my student loan on line. It is through a company that doesnt seem to know whether its coming or going unfortunately. I went to their web site and paid off the total amount it gave me for an unsubsidized and a subsidized loan in of {$9800.00}. The website didnt like that amount it directed me to make individual payments for sub and unsub loans. I followed instruction and made a payment of {$6300.00} and then a payment of {$3500.00}, I received conf # on both transactions. On XX/XX/XXXX my parents found their account was over drawn and had a service charge of {$34.00} for returned checks. Naivet had taken all 3 amounts, the first total amount the site didnt like of {$9800.00} was withdrawn. Additionally the 2 individual amountswere also taken. They owe me {$9800.00}. They were very quick to put a mark my and my moms credit. They are incompetent when it comes to correcting their own mistake! Today is XX/XX/XXXX. I have called them5 times been on hold most of the day or on line there is never a real answer. Give it another week ...

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: At the beginning of the month I agreed to participate in a payment payment plan to prevent my account from defaulting. On XX/XX/XXXX due to an error in my original payment I agreed to pay XXXX dollars towards a forbearance that would prevent the default. The payment plan was agreed to pay XXXX a month for three months consecutively. I received an approval letter on the XXXX of XXXX for the forbearance. Not until the XXXX was I notified that there was an issue with the payment. Apparently my bank rejected the check however my bank stated they have no record of this payment coming through. Now navient is refusing to give me the forbearance after taking my card payment for XXXX dollars. Stating that I will have to pay XXXX plus XXXX in order to stop my account from defaulting. I am barely able to make the monthly payments and now because of an error on there part that they admitted to now my credit will be affected. Follow up XX/XX/XXXX XXXX from consumers affairs After forbearance was approved on XX/XX/XXXX and removal of the charge back. Associate with in the Department of consumer affairs told me that a representative from the payment arrangement department would you get in contact with me with in a week after this for marr A associate with the Department of consumer affairs told me that a representative from loan department will contact me to set up the payment plan. On XX/XX/XXXX I made a call to the payment department and they stated they did not have my charge-back. They stated they would be in contact with me in the following coming weeks to set up the payment plan. I never received a phone call or an email in regards to this payment plan. Nor was I told that in order to keep my account positive I needed to make the payment plan before the end of XXXX. I have a call log and messages to confirm when I am stating. On XX/XX/XXXX, My cosigner received a letter of default. I in fact have not received any letter or email stating that I was going back into charge back. How is this possible I did everything right yet Navient continues to ruin my credit?

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX, I filed bankruptcy. My Navient loans went into a forbearance that basically double my loans instead of being discharged. After the bankruptcy was discharged in XX/XX/XXXX, I have been trying to work with Navient to lower my payments. They have often put my loan into forbearance and I am no longer given the option for an income based repayment plan as they say I am no longer eligible. I tried to request lower payments but, because I have a cosigner, they would not work with me. I tried to have my cosigner taken off my loans but they said that it is not possible unless the cosigner dies and I have proof of it. The high cost of the loans is creating a financial crisis in my life and Navient is unwilling to work with me on lowering payments.

Keep getting calls about your loan
Complaint: Refinanced existing student loan through XXXX XXXX. Never received proper communication on the process. Suddenly completed. When repeatedly called to inquire on amount to pay : Told in XXXX that nothing will be due in XXXX. Followed what they said. ( Had an unrelated problem with personal checking account ... .fraud. So had to close personal checking and open a new one. In process, a payment to Navient was returned. ). Constantly called to resolve all outstanding amount. On XX/XX/19, Navient advised me to pay {$500.00} installment plus {$830.00} past due. Both payments posted XX/XX/19. Received no less than 6 phone calls yesterday ( XX/XX/19 ). Answered when free and told I am still in arrears. Put on hold and no one ever came back on the line. I feel that Navient is being devious. They tell me first to pay nothing for a month or two. Then they tell me I am in arrears and so in forbearance. I pay all that I am told to pay to avoid forbearance. Six days later, they are calling me again claiming I am in forbearance.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Sent payment XX/XX/XXXX. Payment reversed back to bank & account not found. XX/XX/XXXX- upon registering online to view my dashboard I noticed my account was put into administrative forbearance without my consent between the end of XX/XX/XXXX & middle of XX/XX/XXXX. I have since acquired over {$100.00} in interest. XX/XX/XXXX Called shortly after XXXX, first representative I spoke with told me they did not have my address on file and wanted to fix it, I declined wanting answers on the changes to my account. She tells me it was done by the government because of FEMA- I lived in an area of catastrophe. She then corrected herself and placed me on hold. Under 10 minutes she comes back explaining it was done by law do to my lawsuit of bankruptcy in Texas. ( I AM A PA RESIDENT ; NEVER FILED BANKRUPTCY ) I ask to speak to a manager or supervisor. 2nd representative ( XXXX ) comes on the line completely unaware of the previous conversation ; and asks me to clarify my mailing address. ( First representative didnt have it?! ) I explain to her I wish to speak with a supervisor ; someone who knows the ins and outs of the company. She transferred me to XXXX XXXX. He also has my address on file that the first representative said she did not have on file. He explained it very poorly about a bankruptcy lawsuit in Texas, my account would be pushed into claims as a priority to understand how my account was placed in administrative forbearance. I would receive in writing what exactly happened within 7-10 business days. I was extremely confused and asked him to explain the lawsuit information as he had explained In such a way I thought my information was used in Texas of which he said the allegations were not towards me in any means. When I asked if it was the lawsuit against them he said he couldnt speak due to legality terms. They couldnt even advise me on what I needed to do next besides wait for their letter in writing! They wont accept payments yet its negatively affecting my credit score.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: When I started to repay theses loans years ago I was encouraged to make interest only payments. It was described to me that I would be paying down a set amount of interest and when I could later afford to make higher payments, the interest owed would be paid down and I would be making payments towards the principal. Long story short, I was misled into believing I was paying down a predetermined set amount of interest. I am still paying a great deal of interest. Over the years I have paid around {$10000.00} in payments and today I owe more than I ever borrowed!

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: Original borrow ended XX/XX/2012. Estimated total debt +/- {$38000.00}. Total initial consolidation at that time was {$76000.00}. I fought with Navient about this, they would not budge. I filed a XXXX complaint and they credited +/- {$11000.00} due to a disbursement to the school that was returned. However they still double consolidated the total loan amounts!! I have been attempting to fight with them all along. I have filed numerous complaints and have gotten now where. I have paid, relatively diligently since and have currently paid in +/- XXXX. I know there is interest in there to pay back. Navient still has me listed as owing XXXX. 1. Even if I did owe XXXX minus the XXXX credit, total XXXX - after paying in XXXX, how is my balance only decreased by XXXX?!!! 2. I do not owe this massive amount and have paid for over 7 years on this loan without a decrease in balance. 3. I can not get the balance due corrected! 4. Lawyers tell me that I am beyond the 3 year contract law discovery since I flied with the XXXX. What do I do??

Problem with a credit reporting company's investigation into an existing problem

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Their investigation did not fix an error on your report
Complaint: I have submitted several disputes through all 3 credit bureaus-XXXX, XXXX and XXXX. Navient is reporting my student loans ( 8 in total ) as 90 days past due for the XX/XX/2016 payment, but the XX/XX/2016 and XX/XX/2016 payments are both showing current or paid as agreed. The response from the investigation is verified. It is impossible to be current in one month and the next month be 90 days past due and Navient refuses to make the correction. This is impacting a total of 8 loans and has had a negative impact on my credit score.

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: I have worked for the XXXX XXXX XXXX for over 10 years while making payments with the intention of receiving the forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness ( PSLF ). I have submitted my Employment Certification Form ( ECF ) over 3 times and received 3 different statements with 2 stating that I did not work for an agency that falls under the criteria. This has been debunked my HR team both times. Finally after proving to them that this was incorrect now they have turned down my ECF due to the following statement : NOT ELIGIBLE : based on our review, you do not have any eligible loan types. Under law the PSLF is only available for loans made under the XXXX XXXX XXXX ( Direct loans, which was my original loan type before it was sold to another borrower and now Navient ). I contacted them and they refused to change their answer. They sold my loan, changed the characterization of the loan ( probably for this reason ) and all while I had no agreement to this or did I sign a master promissory note. They now claim ZERO dollars apply to my loan forgiveness and I am getting a lawyer to take on the DOE. Please look into this as the customer service agent I spoke to said this was a common issue and she used the term " corrupt '' to describe it.

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: I am a Navient customer. Since XXXX of 2018, I have filed 3 income driven repayment plans. Don't agree with the fees charged
Complaint: I w as forced to work with Navient because apparently I had defaulted and needed to " rehab '' my loan prior to consolidating. My loan was assumed by Navient in XX/XX/XXXX - the following two years I sent navient payments but never saw any payments toward my principal. I fought with them ALOT while they serviced my loans, but nobody was willing to help me. The basic attitude was I couldn't do anything to get this consolidated unless I just kept paying them, so I did. In XX/XX/XXXX I was FINALLY able to get the loan consolidated. At the time that I was able to consolidate, I had paid around {$980.00} to navient over a period of approximately two years. In that time, my balance INCREASED {$490.00}. In summation, I somehow came out of the " rehabilitation '' period at a {$1400.00} DEFICIT. I have since managed to get out from under Navient 's thumb, however, I believe that I am entitled to at least the {$980.00} in payments that I made. At no point was Navient cooperative in my eyes. And I believe their tactics were threatening and predatory.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: I have not received communication from the account servicer, Navient, about the change in interest from this loan. I have noticed that every month, they have been raising the payment due for the loan without providing a notice that such a change has ocurred. I want them to be transparent about how they handle the payments and why that required payment keeps going up in just a matter of months. I assume that the interest rate of this loan is not supposed to go up this quickly. The rate just months ago was 8 % and suddenly without proper notice, it has been increased to 9 %

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Can't get other flexible options for repaying your loan
Complaint: I filed Chapter XXXX in XXXX ; Navient was listed on here and was supposed to stop contacting me while I was in repayment. They kept at me and in XXXX told me I had to consolidate my loans or they would go into default. I didn't know what to do so I did what they said not knowing any different. I found out in XXXX that this was a lie and that because I did the consolidation I was not protected from them any more. In XXXX I contacted Navient several times to get income based loan repayments set up. They refused to help me and said that because I had no income so they told me they couldn't set up any plan because I didn't have pay stubs so they put me in forbearance. Later that year the welfare office helped me find the paperwork to complete for income based repayments. I completed the paperwork and set it to them. I did not hear back from them for months. Finally I got a letter from them telling my I was missing documentation of insurance and they could not process it. I got the documentation again from the department of welfare and sent it to them. I didn't hear back from them and I called many times. Every time I called I was pushed around to other people and hung up on. I had no idea what to do. Then in XXXX I get a letter that the Department of Education has my loan and I am in default. For the past 4 years I have been taking care of my XXXX son and working when I can. I have tried numerous times to work out a payment plan that works with my income. Navient has not only lied to me ; they have treated me terribly. The department of education who is the new servicer of my loan could care less. So now they sent me a letter telling me that my loan will be offset by my tax return. I wanted an income repayment plan that worked with my low income.I am on welfare due to how little I make. I am doing my best here and I have tried to take care of this. My tax return may not be big but that helps with my sons expenses. How can I get this fixed? I am desperate here ; I feel that no one cares and I was pushed into a situation that I had no control over.
