Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: I received a letter from one of my loan services Navient dated XX/XX/XXXX stating that I needed to renew my repayment plan. The letter stated I needed to reapply by XX/XX/XXXX and gave XXXX as an option for reapplying. On XX/XX/XXXX I submitted an income driven repayment plan application online at XXXX XXXX to be sent to both XXXX XXXX and Navient. On XX/XX/XXXX I received an email from Navient stating my electronic application for an income driven repayment plan had been received. It also said that if I used the IRS data retrieval tool- which I did- that there was nothing I needed to do now. I received a letter from XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX stating that my IBR payment had been recalculated and was effective until XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I sent a letter to Navient explaining that I had submitted my information online for recertification and had received email conformation from them on XX/XX/XXXX that they had received it but had heard nothing since. I asked for written confirmation that my account had been updated. On XX/XX/XXXX I received an email from Navient stating that they had not yet received my renewal application.

Communication tactics

Debt collection: Federal student loan debt

Frequent or repeated calls
Complaint: My daughter has a loan with Sallie Mae. I am a co-signer. Times are bad so we did fall behind on the payments. I am helping her by making catch up payments for her account. In XXXX I talked to Sallie Mae loan dept to tell them of this. They kept asking for more payments as we spoke saying they did not receive recent ones. I told them I can not, but will continue the monthly pay. Tho they repeated they did not receive my last payment, my bank records did show the pay went thru. The staff was either lying or ... ..On XX/XX/2019 Sallie Mae called my wife, -- 5 times in 3 minutes -- son, brother and sister in law -- not even same last name -- to tell me to pay. BUT ... did NOT try to call myself or daughter. Shrug? Sallie Mae calls show on caller ID as unavailable. calls come on weekends but when trying to call back says only open Monday thru Friday. This tactic is harassment and will not result in my ability to afford to repay faster.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: I borrowed approximately {$20000.00}, consolidating small loans into one loan in XXXX. Over the years I have paid approximately $ 16,000+ towards this loan. Navient. Need I say more? Despite repeatedly asking over the past 20ish years if I had any other alternative regarding payments, Navient always replied that my only option was a forebearance or pay the past due amount in full. AT NO TIME did they offer me income based repayment. They did this intentionally as they make MUCH more money via forebearances. Had they done so, the loan would be paid off by now. As it stands today, they have my balance at over {$44000.00}. Seriously???? My loans originated in XXXX, but I have lived in XXXX since XXXX. I have filed a complaint with Sen. XXXX XXXX and asked him to intercede, but not sure how much that will help. Navient is now in the process of confirming my employment, etc., which, my being a XXXXXXXX, I know means they are preparing to sue me. This will be patently unfair and highly injurious to me. I do not believe I should have to pay through the teeth for Navient 's ongoing lying, cheating and stealing. I would like to join any lawsuit available, ESPECIALLY filed by the CPFB. Please advise on how I can stop this ongoing harassment and have my loan recalculated from the first time I was given a forebearance and should have been offered income based repayment. Once this is done, I believe they will actually owe me money, as their payment records ( which despite years of requesting, only recently received from the Feds ) show that I have paid nearly the amount borrowed, and my income has never been high. Further, my primary income has been from XXXX for the last 19 years, and very low at that. Thank you very much for your assistance. XXXX XXXX XXXX

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019 I called in to make a final payment for the full amount of my loan ( approx {$4100.00} ) and need to use my VISA Signature rewards cards to gain the points. They are refusing to accept my payment via cc. This is how I need to pay the balance in FULL. They keep bouncing me around to " supervisor '' to " supervisor '' and are not very helpful on the phone. The last supervisor I spoke with is XXXX with employee ID XXXX. I'm still on hold for another " Supervisor '' but I'm not hopeful. I'm literally trying to pay the balance in full however they will not accept the payment.

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: I have by given the run around concerning my loan and loan for over 25 years. I had two different loans with Sally Mae that were combined and taken over by Navient. On my last phone conversation with Navient, I was told that Mr .??? would call me back by Thursday, XX/XX/2019 to explain why I have two different payment books. One that is {$100.00}. more monthly. The problem occurred when people from two different departments went back and forth giving me information on how to lower my monthly payments. Both Persons filled out paper work in an attempt to lower my payments. Navient says I have to go with the higher monthly payment because that was the last paper work that was filed. My {$260.00} ... monthly payment is due XX/XX/2019. Basically, I feel that I have been given wrong information throughout the 25 plus years and this has even caused me not to be eligible for their student loan forgiveness or public loan forgiveness program. I have been told that my loans don't qualify because they are federal loan. I'm not even sure when or how this all came about.

False statements or representation

Debt collection: Private student loan debt

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: XXXX XXXX ACCT # XXXX TEL XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. XXXX MI XXXX XX/XX/XXXX I am writing this letter to file a formal complaint against XXXX XXXX-specialist and her alleged supervisor XXXX XXXX. During this debt collection process I have repeatedly asked for written confirmation of payments made to be sent via email. Each time Ive asked I am told that the company will not send out such statements and that in order for me to keep track of my payments I need to check my bank statements and add them up. Ive complained several times and as a result was sent out 2 additional statements reflecting the settlement agreement and payments made. The 1st was begrudgingly sent on XX/XX/XXXX. I asked again for a statement on XX/XX/XXXX and was again met with strong resistance. After persisting in my request, I was transferred to a supervisor who met my request only after my insisting that the documentation be sent as a measure to avoid any misunderstanding as to amounts paid, outstanding debt, and expected payments and completion date. We came to an understanding that I wouldnt ask for this type of document for the remainder of the repayment process and that a final report would be sent to me nearing my due date in XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I finally received the documentation via email. On XX/XX/XXXX I called my specialist Ms. XXXX XXXX and requested a verbal confirmation of my remaining balance. She stated on a recorded line that my settlement balance for account # XXXX as of XX/XX/XXXX was {$3300.00}. I asked her was she absolutely sure of that balance and she stated emphatically that she was SURE and that was my remaining balance. I accepted this Information as true and proceeded to make a {$1000.00} payment, and I scheduled an additional {$600.00} payment to be processed the following day and to clear the following Tuesday XX/XX/XXXX after the federal holiday. These payments both posted to my bank account, and based on the balance I was quoted by Ms. XXXX I was working with the assumption that my remaining settlement balance was {$1700.00} On XX/XX/XXXX I called and initiated an {$800.00} payment which cleared my bank on XX/XX/XXXX. Once again relying on a professional trust of my specialist Ms. XXXX XXXX and the info she provided me during our recorded conversation on XX/XX/XXXX I assumed that my settlement balance would be {$960.00} after the {$800.00} payment posted. On XX/XX/XXXX I called to make what I thought would be my final payment. I again request my current and most recent balance and to my extreme disappointment Ms. XXXX quoted a remainder of {$1400.00} more than {$600.00} above my calculations based on the information provided to me by her on XXXX XXXX. She provided absolutely no explanation for her misrepresentation and went in circles argumentatively. she then called our conversation an argument when I demanded an answer for her actions and questioned her about giving me misleading information. She took absolutely no responsibility for her distortion and implied that it was some how my responsibly to keep track without any written confirmation of payments and withstanding her misrepresentations of my accounts accuracy. I am writing this letter to formally complain and request that my account and all communications be reviewed and taken in account in determining the accurate and remaining balance of my settlement agreement. I also ask that this complaint be escalated to the next level as I have already spoken with Mr. XXXX XXXX and he has upheld Ms. XXXX misrepresentations and rhetoric repeatedly while at the same time apologizing and patronizing me. The date of this letter is XX/XX/XXXX and my settlement due date is XX/XX/XXXX so time is critical at this junction as I intend to keep my commitment to settle this debt. Thank you in advance for your help with this matter XXXX XXXX ACCT # XXXX XX/XX/XXXX XX/XX/XXXX

Student loan: Federal student loan servicing

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: Although I have been paying on my student loans since XXXX, I've noticed that the balance of same has not gone down that much. In XXXX, I filed for chapter XXXX bankruptcy ; however, my Navient student loans were included in the repayment plan. Since the discharge of my bankruptcy in XXXX, I have continued to pay on time, the full amount of the loan. During that time, I noticed that the loan payments were broken up and then without notice, they were added back together. This, in my opinion, was in an attempt on Navient 's part to charge more interest. Since XXXX, the amount owed for my student loans has barely changed. I addressed this with the customer service and was only told that the interest is charged up front.

Trouble with how payments are being handled
Complaint: On XXXX, I made a payment of {$2800.00}, and selected the option to apply overpayment to the largest interest rate account, which was account XXXX. This should have paid of account XXXX, but I still saw that the account had a remain balance of {$0.00}. I called Navient to ask them to fix the issue. After fixing the issue, I saw that they changed amount of payment on XXXX from {$2800.00} to {$2700.00}. This is not correctly and I am afraid Navient will only continue to make a mistake to my account. My goal is to pay my student loan off this year, and these errors are causing me to worry about me potentially overpaying for what I actually owe. Could you please help me fix this issue?

Don't agree with the fees charged
Complaint: While my husband was on XXXX XXXX I had took out a Parent Loan using SallieMae as the loaner for our son who was going to school at XXXX XXXX College. The loan amount was for XXXX. Since then, the loan amount has grown absorbently to XXXX because of large fees. I had been in constant contact with Navient which had purchased the loan from SallieMae, in order to pay off the loan. We have been paying a monthly payment which has created some hardship for us. We decided to be a good steward of our money and pay it off and they considered it saying they would check with the CEO, but I was told that we had to have the money available to send. With that in mind we refinanced our home and offered them XXXX as a settlement amount. Our home loan then went up because of that word. Back in contact with Navient they then said they would not take less than the full amount of the loan. THey have lied to us, harrassed us on the phone and have made us live stressful.
