Complaint: I started making payments for my loan in XXXX. I made IBR payments. They were roughly $ XXXX/month. My husband and I were filing jointly so my payments were very high. I didnt understand why my husbands salary had to do with MY student loan. Anyway, after XXXX we filed separately and my payments went down, finally. The only reason I did this was because after 2 years of payments not 1 cent was put to principle. How do you make over {$7000.00} worth of payments in a year with nothing to show for it. I am obviously trying to pay it off, but I filed taxes separate and my payments went down. I started in XXXX with {$160000.00} in debt for my XXXX of XXXX XXXX. Now it is XXXX and that has grown to {$210000.00}. In XXXX my husband and I were blessed with our little girl. I was out of work for 3 months. I was told by Navient that since I wasnt working my loan would go up to {$30000.00} in those three months. This is when I started giving up. I would like to pay off my debt, but in 7 years of IBR I now owe {$50000.00} more than when I started. What's the point in doing the right thing? What's the point in going for your XXXX so you can help people? Just ridiculous. There is no way out.

They have not contacted me via phone in 6 months and have decided to give my family members in Georgia information about my student loans. The name of the Agent was XXXX and she lied stating she got my cousin 's information that I disclosed to them, which i did not.

Complaint: XXXX XXXX # XXXX XXXX XXXX # XXXX I am the cosigner for both the account referenced above. My daughter, XXXX XXXX XXXX, married name XXXX is the primary account holder. The credit report shows 2 late payments one for each account in XX/XX/XXXX days XXXX and her husband had been making the payments on these accounts consistently for over 2 years, on occasion I would get a call from Naviant that the payments were late, but they always arrived before I needed to be concerned. I expected the same on this, it wasn't until I was getting constant and harassing call from Naviant that it became apparent the something was wrong. I reached out to my daughter, but got no response, we have been estranged since her mother I am got divorced, I reached out to her husband and my ex-wife, still no explanation or communication as to why the bills had not been paid. I than reached out to Naviant, apparently the reduced payment agreement between Naviant and XXXX had expired and the payment went from XXXX per month to over XXXX a month. XXXX manages a retail XXXX XXXX facility and her husband had just graduated law school and was working on passing the bar, there was no way they could manage a {$650.00} a month payment. I discovered speaking to Naviant that, XXXX could have extended the agreement with a simple phone call or applied for an income-based payment program, she did neither, and when I attempted to extend her agreement I was not allowed to because I was not the primary signer on the loan, I could do nothing but pay, I had no other options. I did pay to have the late reporting delayed for another 30 days but with such short notice and no warning I could not pay the entire almost, XXXX that was due. I was already paying to have 2 other of her loans that we in default rehabilitated. The plan was and still is to consolidated or refinance all 4 loans with an income-based payment plan, this has been agreed to by My daughter, her husband and my ex-wife. These 2-late payments seriously affected my credit score, dropping it over 100 points. I have assumed the responsibility for these 2 loans until such time as we can get the loan consolidation completed, but the impact on the drop in my credit score makes this more difficult and complicated. I did reach out to Navient to see if there was anything to be done about getting these two-late payments removed but I got nowhere. There are reasons why Navient has one of the worst customer service rating is the industry and they are being sued by a half a dozen or so states

I have called twice ( XXXX XXXX, 2019 ) and this past week ( XXXX XXXX, 2019 ) and both times Navient told me they would sent a letter detailing all of the payment plans I have for my federal student loans for the past 10 years, especially the first few years. I have yet to receive this letter.

Complaint: My monthly student loan is approximately {$90.00} per month. Around XXXX 2017 I made a conscious decision to try to pay off my loan a little faster. So I contacted Navient and explained to them that I want my additional payments applied to my principal. They stated that they would do it but a few months later when i checked back my loan did not decrease it was practically the same. I called back and they said it was applied to future payments and i explained again that i didnt want it applied to future payments but applied to my principal but to this day they are still applying it to future payments and not my principal.

Complaint: I enrolled at XXXX University Online. I informed the Registrars office that I did not have a high school diploma. They stated that this was not an issue and they could use my " life experiences '' as basis for enrollment. I did not do an entrance exam and I was only given a login and password. I did not understand the curriculum and after 10 days of trying to do it figured out I was not going to be able to. I called the college and unenrolled and was told that my I would not owe anything do to the circumstances of me not having a high school diploma. I have sent Navient " My Loan Holder '' several documents stating the facts, all the documentation that is needed for loan discharge but I keep getting the run around and the generic Denial Letters. I believe that they are not investigating the situation. They keep saying I was enrolled in XXXX University XXXX, which I have sent proof from the National Student Loan Data Systems and the registars office at XXXX University XXXX. The last response I received from Navient is asking for verification from the college that I was not given an entrance exam. How do I complete that since the college is no longer in business. I am one of the many victims that XXXX University Frauded. I have attempted to rectify the issue with Navient with no success. I am in need of the CFPB help to make this matter right.

Complaint: Hi, recently I had 6 months left on my student loan payments ending in XX/XX/XXXX. Recently navient put my loans in deferment without my authorization. When I told them I didnt want deferment, they still extended my loan repayment till XX/XX/XXXX with increased interest. They said they were going to correct my loan back to the original payment and loan pay off date but have not done this yet. Ultimately, they are trying to charge me more interest. Thanks

Complaint: I have struggled to make my student loan payments for many years because I have not had a job that paid enough to make a student loan payment. I have talked to them about lowering the payments but every time they just defer it and that just added additional interest. For the past year I have made monthly payments, but over the year, nothing has been applied to principal, only interest and more interest has been added so that my original {$25000.00} now equals {$38000.00} with interest continuing to multiply. At the rate Navient is applying my payments this loan will never be paid off. They have been wanting over {$500.00} a month which is impossible to meet. I need some kind of help in getting my payments applied to principal instead of everything to interest and nothing to principal.

Complaint: I received a federal loan and Navient is the liaison on XX/XX/XXXX. Last month on XX/XX/XXXX and XX/XX/XXXX for amounts of {$700.00} and {$600.00} respectively. I checked my account today on XX/XX/XXXX to make another payment and was surprised to see my unpaid interest was significantly higher than I expected. My payments were never processed for that loan. I have attempted to contact them and have not received an explanation as of yet. In searching for help with this, it appears I'm not the only one with misallocated payments.

Complaint: I spoke to a representative with navient. they told me that all of my loans were consolidated and I do not have anything else to do. They said that they have every last one of my loans with any company that I have taken out a loan with US department of education. Etc.I tried to go back to school and was denied they said that one of my loans or in a very bad category and I can not go back to school. It is also on my credit report. I reached out to navient and no one helped me.

Complaint: I have been enrolled in Autopay with Navient. I joined because Navient promised .25 % saving on interest. However, the system is unable to readjust itself after overpayments. Navient has a repayment schedule of a certain amount per month for ( example ) 24 months, and then it boosts the amount to pay for the next 12 months. I have been overpaying to shorten my loan, and I payed the amount to cover the first 24 months early. But Navient did not figure this out and start me on the new payments. Left unattended, there would have been no payments on this loan for a year. Multiply this by four loans. Right now I have my overpayment set to pay down the largest loan, which is the {$670.00} payment shown on XXXX, following no payment on XXXX. In addition, I now have Parent Plus Loans on my daughter 's schooling that are accruing interest. I already owe $ XXXX at 7.9 %. The total is increasing bc of interest, but it is not shown anywhere when it is added or how much.

Complaint: I have XXXX sets of loans with Navient. I have stafford loans and signature loans. I have been paying on both for quite some time. Navient promises to remove late pays and fees on the account and has not removed them on the account. Recently I was told that I would be current on my loans if I made additional payments yet my balance has not moved and all that can be seen on the account is that a payment was received. The payment was taken from my bank account within 24 hours. I have a issue with loans that I acquired for XXXX in XXXX school it is as if I am paying for loans that the school supposedly returned back to Sallie Mae which is now Navient. I think Navient is set to make buying a home and car affordable for any individual by adding fees and keeping loans on the account that were returned by the school. Something is not adding up. I have loans that are stafford loans ( XXXX through XXXX from XXXX however XXXX states that they returned the money back to Sallie Mae and I still have like I owe for those loans ) I supposedly owe XXXX for {$10000.00} that should have came back to Sallie Mae yet online says I owe it to Navient. When I call to inquire about my account the rep states that my account online is handled by a third party when it should be accurate and up to date information. Someone should investigate Navient for several reasons : debt accrued in school does not guarantee a job, I can not purchase a home because they refuse to send me a statement that would show what my loan payments would look like indefinite payment. Borrowing money has been my biggest downfall in life because I can not afford to buy a home. However, Navient is stealing money from people who are trying to pay the loans and not applying the money accurately to my account. I think they just come up with payment plans to keep you in debt forever. The rep told me to call in three days to see if my payment would be placed correctly on my account and it has not yet to this day. They still have me in the negative and being behind when I overpaid the three required payments that were supposed to bring me up to date.

Complaint: I've been attempting to pay off my student loan with Navient for some time now, and after a fight to scrape together enough money to pay it off. So I contact Navient and arrange to make my full payoff amount and have my account closed. Since I do not trust them I mail out the check. I'm not giving these crooks access to my bank account. I'm told on the phone as long as they receive the check within 7 business days, I wouldn't be charged interest and the payoff amount will remain the same. I also told that they will close my account when the check is cashed. Navient gets the check 2 business days later and cashes it that same day. I log back into my account a week later to confirm that my account is paid off and closed. Not only is my account still active its accruing interest and I now owe {$3.00} on a loan that has been paid off in full. So I call them and go ballistic. I've read online how Navient does this to borrowers and makes it impossible for people to pay off their student loans. Navient said that since its under {$5.00} they will waive the fee. I need confirmation that this fee is waived and my account is closed as paid in full. I do not trust them to honor their word, they are a horrid company.
