Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Can't temporarily delay making payments
Complaint: Hello CFPB, Navient has told me over and over again that my private loans only get a forbearance like 3 times. I've been laid off since XX/XX/XXXX and I have not found another job yet. I live in a village about XXXX people. There are no jobs. I have been trying. My sister just passed away and it takes time to get through something like this in the family. Navient customer service has been unreal. I call the customer number and explain many times over my situation. I feel duped by this company. This company has no empathy for someone like myself. I get laughed at by the XXXX who said I call their Customer Advocate and get a claim. But then they give me these numbers that only bring me back to them over and over again. So do I need to get a lawyer? I have asked many times over how much have I paid in in interest payments to them the past 9 years? I'm told for a loans of ( XXXX ) I will have to pay until XXXX. Seems unreal to me. I can't believe the customer service ethics. They don't care really don't. No one seems to understand that if you don't have money you don't. 10 years ago who were to think that this would happen? No career job and the hype of these loans? Also my co borrower is my mom and she is XXXX years old and not feeling well. They keep calling and harassing her all the time. I need your help!

Received bad information about your loan
Complaint: XX/XX//2019 - I sent a letter to the Dept of Ed/Navient requesting the original instrument of indebtedness in its entirety to validate the debt obligations that are reporting 8 times on my credit. 4 accounts show current and 4 show closed. I received back the first page of a master promissory note. The other 7 pages are missing. There are no account numbers to verify the account numbers reporting on my credit. The single page master promissory note does not show the amount of the debt requested. I also received a computer printed balance statement of account.

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: Today I contact Navient as a result of learning a company that was managing my loans ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) was suspended and under a lawsuit submitted by the FTC. When contacting them today and within the last few months, I informed that I did on any call to Navient the XXXX was managing my loans. Each representative stated, we aren't affiliated with that company and it was not until today that I was given a telephone number to file a complaint about paying this company to manage my loans. After attempting to submit an IDR application and learning that my payments would be $ XXXX+/months, I logged in to my account and notice my loans had increased by {$20000.00} since 2015. Outrageous! The representative told me the only option I had was to go into forbearance plan where she then mumbled off a disclaimer about paying interest but never mentioned my interest rate would increase. I am single and pay a mortgage and car note and other necessary bills alone and I don't even have credit cards as I manage my debt responsibly. I filed a complaint with the FTC about the XXXX in which I have paid over {$2500.00} to since XX/XX/2015 in which I was told my debt would be reduced from {$62000.00} to {$40000.00}. I was sent a contract that showed my payment to XXXX would be {$100.00} per month will I paid about {$75.00} to Navient. I was told the {$40000.00} would not reflect until the end of the XXXX year contract. I am learning that none of the money I paid to XXXX went towards my loan and only today did Navient mention I had been in forbearance for XXXX out of XXXX allowed months. I have been left no option but to go back into forbearance since I could not pay {$500.00} payments due to my loans having increased from {$62000.00} in 2015 to now {$80000.00}. I have never been late on any payments to either Navient or XXXX. I do not understand how the XXXX was allowed to scam students for this long. Navient also took advantage of the situation and accepted all documents from XXXX and increased the interest rate without my knowledge especially since I did not submit the documents directly to them. I am requesting that I be refunded my money not only from the XXXX but Navient completely forgive my student loans! A formal lawsuit should be filed against Navient as I have been an honest paying citizen who was taken advantage and now being asked to pay {$80000.00} in student loans and now only being given a reasonable payment of a car note with no other options but forebearance. I have all the documents that show the contract that was presented and the interest rate increases of Navient ; however, I am unable to attach them to this complaint since they all include my SSN, account numbers and/or address. I would like for some assistance with the balance of my loans. Help please.

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: For years, Navient ( previously Sallie Mae ) encouraged me to enter forbearance instead of offering alternate payment methods, such as IBR. They have also rejected my application for the public service loan forgiveness program for unclear reasons, despite the fact that I should qualify by virtue of having the correct loan type and working for a nonprofit.

Struggling to repay your loan

Student loan: Private student loan

Problem lowering your monthly payments
Complaint: My private loans started with Sallie Mae and are now managed through Navient. At this present moment I am {$63000.00} in private student loan debt and my monthly payments are roughly {$480.00} per month. Ive spoke with several representatives whove misinformed me about co-signer release information. On XX/XX/2018 I spoke with XXXX, reference XXXX she informed me that after 12 on time monthly payments I would be eligible for the co-signer release program. This information was false, I spoke with representative XXXX, reference XXXX who informed me that borrowers who only pay interest on their private loans are not eligible for the co-signer release program. I have difficulty repaying my private loans due to issues with lowering my monthly payment. I am a single mother of XXXX children- the cost of living which includes rent, car note, daycare, not to mention groceries and clothing for my children make it very difficult and at times impossible to make on time payments of {$480.00} per month. It is unfair that Navient/Sallie Mae fail to educate college loan officers to counsel students appropriately when making the best financial decisions to pay for school, such proper counseling will also assist with lowering the students position of being in financial debt post graduation. I am constantly misinformed by Navient representatives. I am in dire need of assistance to lower my monthly private student loan payment so I can afford to care for my children.

Written notification about debt

Debt collection: Federal student loan debt

Didn't receive enough information to verify debt
Complaint: I was contacted by XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX regarding student loan debt with an increase of XXXX in collection charges the department of edu did not honor my debt rehab program with them and sent the information to XXXX, once contacting XXXX XXXX XXXX they stated that I would go into 9 month rehab program and after the program a new servicer would contact me so XX/XX/XXXX payments where started of XXXX $ every month on the XXXX of the month automatically, all payments where made up until XX/XX/XXXX completing the successful rehab program, I called XXXX XXXX XXXX XX/XX/XXXX to inquire to why I have received no contact regarding new servicer. On the call the lady explained they had the incorrect contact information for me even tho they where sending everything to my current address etc, the women advised me to make another XXXX $ payment for XX/XX/XXXX I did, after this I received a letter stating I fell out of the program even though I completed all the paperwork required 1040, w2, financial disclosure in XX/XX/XXXX which that is how my payments where calculated. So now its XX/XX/XXXX and still no answer to why they have not had any other servicer contact me to take me out of the debt which is affecting my Score. They seemed to have no information no notes on call nor the program even though they took the payments, they are falsely advising and not following federal guidelines for debt collection, the dept of edu is not accepting calls. So Im paying this debt every month for now 10 months and the rehab program is not being followed by XXXX they are still attempting to collect debt with the XXXX in collection fees they have not contact any servicer regarding my loan nor sharing the information with the dept of edu, they are continuing to keep me in default regardless of the so called program offered. They are attempting to place me in another 9 month program saying they havent received proof of insurance which was never requested everything was sent via email.

Complaint: I finished school last year on XX/XX/2018. I did not get my diploma or show as a graduate until XXXX of that year. I contacted Navient today as I was told when trying to get a personal loan that Navient is reporting delinquent. I have not heard from them. They are claiming I am delinquent since XX/XX/XXXX of last year. How is this possible when you are granted a 6 month grace period from the time you graduate to start making payments? Plus the fact that they have made no attempts to contact me. My credit is now ruined because of them

Account information incorrect
Complaint: I took out a student loan in XXXX with Navient, I have since than been deferring this loan. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email from XXXX XXXX ( my credit card ), advising me that my credit score had dropped from XXXX to XXXX. When I viewed the reason, I discovered I was 90 days past due on my loan. I did not receive any type of contact from them letting me know my bill was due. Every year, I receive a letter from them and I defer the loan, this time I received nothing and therefore, was unaware the account was delinquent. I recently moved to California on my own and am work part time and enrolled in college for XXXX XXXX full time. This neglect by Navient has changed my life. I work hard on my keeping my credit score above average and now it is below average. When I contacted Navient, they informed me that I did not have an account with them and I tried to explain that I did because I have deferred the loan for years. I than questioned why I didn't receive a bill and their reply was because I was signed up for electronic billing. This is contradiction by Navient, how can I sign up for electronic billing if according to them I never had an account and if I never had an account, where has my loan been for the past years. Navient informed me the only way I could get it removed is if I file a dispute, which I have. If Navient was not neglectful in contacting me has they have done in the previous years, this would not have happened.
