Debt was paid
Complaint: We were forced to terminate a residential lease early due to a death in the family in 2013. The leasing company tried to negotiate for us to pay for the house until they re-rented it - we did not agree, however, they proceeded as if we did. We paid two months rent, plus they kept our deposit, and instead of applying it to the termination fee, they tried to collect two additional months of rent and a cleaning fee. We have refused to pay it, since it was incorrectly calculated. They have refused to discuss it with us, maintaining it " meets FCRA requirements ''. Now, their most recent antic is to change the date on the report, so it looks like we started paying on it - we have not, nor have we negotiated any kind of settlement. The inconsistency of their reporting across the XXXX bureaus alone disqualifies this debt from meeting FCRA requirements. Their failure to provide any written proof of the debt is another.

Not given enough info to verify debt
Complaint: I have asked National Credit System to validate a collection they are reporting on my credit reports on XX/XX/XXXX, XX/XX/XXXX and they have failed to provide anything that would support the fact that they are attempting to collect interest on a debt without an agreement or contract. Nor have they supplied anything other than a statement on XXXX of the collections. I told them that I would be reporting them to you but they obviously do n't fear you because they failed to delete themselves or answer questions about the debt ( s ) that they are using to damage me financially. Its damaging my credit and it is important to me.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: in 2011 XXXX located at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, OH XXXX charged me {$3900.00} for an apartments i co-signed with my ex wife. First, They refused to show my wife the apartment before signing the lease. After signing the lease the actual apartment was filthy, muddy and had sign of roaches. My ex-wife asked to cancel and they refused. They stated they would charge us XXXX months of rent regardless they rent the place the next day. They did surprisingly. It 's been reported on my credit with National Credit System, a collection company. When i contacted the manager for XXXX XXXX they refused to talk and stated i would have to talk to the collection agency. This is a violation of my rights as a peaceful citizen and a tax payer. This is a fraud since they key was never handed to us and we never had to move either since they refused to show us another apartment or even cancel the lease which they promised to do if we did not like the apartment. This place is a total bluff and a scam.

Debt was paid
Complaint: I was told by the leasing agent of an apartment complex that there would only be a {$600.00} penalty if I broke the one year lease. This would be paid by surrendering my security deposit which was {$600.00}. there was no mention of a Buy-Out Option Settlement agreement at the contracting phase. However, upon giving my thirty-day notice four month into the contract, I was asked to sign a settlement agreement for {$3100.00}. I lined-out that amount and wrote into the agreement the {$600.00} that I was quoted upon leasing the apartment. The apartment manager approved the agreement form as modified with her signature, and then took the {$600.00} deposit as payment. Two months later, however, I was contacted by a collection agency claiming that I owed the apartment complex {$3100.00}. I sent them the modified Buy-Out agreement for the {$600.00}, and the notice that the {$600.00} had been collect by the apartment manager. Since then, I have been constantly hounded and threatened by the collection agency for the last five months attempting to collect a much larger amount of {$6800.00}. I am now being threatened to have my good credit destroyed by placing this false delinquency with the three major credit bureaus. I 'm asking your agency to advocate for me in this matter so that my good credit will not be effect by a overzealous collection agency, and have the unjust harassment stopped.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: Client was evicted from an apartment after rent was withheld because of livability issues. The eviction went through the court process and a judgement was entered for {$1300.00} plus court costs. On the credit report, a separate debt collector is attempting to collect {$3700.00} for the same incident. A debt collector should not be able to collect on a debt that has already gone through the court process and furthermore they should n't be able to ask for an amount that is exponentially higher than the judgement amount.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: I did not receive notice of debt from the primary party upon moving from my apartment. My credit report was pulled and it showed as a derogatory amount owed to a collection company. I reached out to the primary party with concerns as to why this was reported, and why I owed them, they stated it was from minor cleaning, and carpet shampooing when I moved, and stated they were no longer able to assist with clearing it to contact NCS. I contacted NCS several times and was told that if the primary party requested it to be deleted they would do so. The primary party then contacted them and asked for it to be deleted and they are refusing to do so. One customer service rep. Stated that I should just pay it and let the {$0.00} balance be reflected on my credit report, he went on to state that even if the primary party asked for it to be deleted, they will not do so because they filed it with the collection agency. I have been yelled at, hung up on, and received unethical advice from this collections agency. I was not greeted or spoke to in a calm and professional matter. I did not receive the ability to resolve the debt in a fair & professional way.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: I acquired this debt XXXX 2015 from my apartment complex. I have been working with National credit system Inc. paying off a debt in the original amount of {$3100.00}. My collector name is XXXX XXXX ext XXXX, which she is very rude, abrupt and argues with you. I have now paid a total of {$1800.00} towards this debt, and last Thursday XXXX XXXX at XXXX I called and spoke to my collector and we reached a settlement amount of {$800.00}. I agreed to pay the settlement and she tried to run my card for the {$800.00} my card did not go through and declined so I gave her permission to contact my bank with me on the line. We called my bank and I spoke to an agent that advised the reason why my card could not go through was the payment would oversee my daily limit for the day, and that the amount that I could use my debit card for the remaining of the day was {$200.00}, but that we could use a check to make the full payment. Once we ended the call with the XXXX XXXX rep the line hung up completely. I tried calling back several times and I was then receiving an automated voicemail that it was after hours, which then I told myself I would just call back the next day to continue the payment. I looked at my online banking account and noticed a {$200.00} charge from National credit system was reflected. I thought it was weird that she processed a portion of the payment without me acknowledging and before the call hung up we were advised that we could do check by phone for the full settlement amount of {$800.00}. On Friday XXXX XXXX I called back at XXXX to pay the remaining settlement since she debited {$200.00}, and then again received the automated message that the office was now closed. Typically I call after work so decided that I would just call on Monday XXXX XXXX to finally settle it all. On Monday XXXX XXXX at XXXX I called to and spoke to XXXX XXXX . During this call she was very rude yelling over me and advised me that she would no longer honor the {$800.00} settlement amount and that I would have to pay the balance in full. I asked her why she would not honor it and she advised that settlement no longer stood, and that I did not call back on Friday to settle I advised her that I did call and that I received a message that the office was closed and she advised that they close at XXXX on Friday and that it was my fault. Frustrated and upset I hung up with her as I sat and thought about the situation I realized that if she was no longer going to honor the settle amount then why did she debit my account the {$200.00} without my permission and did not follow the federal rules and regulations when processing the payment like she has in the past when I pay a payment as advising that my card was going to be charged that amount. I then called back at XXXX to speak to the manager, The manager I spoke to was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX he was very rude to me, also speaking over me. He advised me during that I was making acquisitions saying that XXXX XXXX did not follow proper guidelines with charging my card, and that he would have to listen to the call and would call me back the next day. I then told him that I know my rights and how they are handling me is against federal regulations and I was going to file a complaint at the state attorney general office, and he hung up on me. The next day Tuesday XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX did not call me back, but XXXX XXXX called me back at XXXX and advised me that the settlement amount now was {$1100.00} minus the {$200.00} payment she took for a total of {$960.00}. I told her we agreed to an {$800.00} settlement amount, & that if she was not going to honor the settlement then why did she take the {$200.00} payment out my account on XX/XX/XXXX without proper authorization. She then proceeded to say that I could be refunded the {$200.00} payment and take my total account back to {$1400.00}. How I have been handled is unfair & unjust.
