Complaint: I bought a prepaid XXXX card from XXXX. The card is from NETSPEND Corp in XXXX, TX. I put {$500.00} on the card and forgot about fees. I tried to make a purchase for {$500.00} XXXX XXXX, 2015 and the card was declined to the Merchant ( XXXX XXXX in California ) so they cancelled the order. NetSpend has put a hold on the {$500.00} and wont release it to me despite numerous calls to them. I had to use a different card to purchase the product. Netspend says I have to have the merchand send them something stating the order was cancelled. The merchant says " When I cancelled that order it went into cyber space .... '' how do I get NetSpend to release the money??

Complaint: I 'm on XXXX, when I finally won my case I needed a bank so I can have my checks directly deposited. I opted for a Netspend card, I thought I had researched it, but apparently not. The check I received from XXXX was {$75000.00} I had made some Purchases, then I noticed money was disappearing, charges were made from XXXX for a cell phone unlock thing. I do n't have a cell phone. Double charges, That was how I noticed I was being ripped off. I contacted Netspend, nothing, they hang up on me, tell me lies, I come to find out that its an offshore call center. The first thing they ask you is your SS #. There is so much to this., We finally got somebody from Netspend in the XXXX to talk to us, but then he gave us the run around. Lied to us, did absolutely nothing to help. He even said he would send me a copy of my account info, when he did they charged me {$5.00} for it. Bottom line is I 'm missing at least {$20000.00}. My family and I spend a year homeless because of my XXXX, we 're about to be there again. I need my money. All I want is my money back. If you check online on how many complaints there really are on this company, in the last month alone, its crazy and wrong. This company should not be in business.

Complaint: The online website account history shows that the account balance is positive by US mathematical standards, yet Netspend Corporate managers/representatives say that it is Not their standards. For instance ; Here is what my balance on the website will show to me is the balance is {$10.00} ( XXXX dollars ) ; Balance ( {$10.00} ). However this example is actually a Negative balance. If it was a Negative balance it show show or read as follows ; ( - {$10.00} ). I talked to a representative of Netspend and they told me that on their side of the website it shows a Negative but not mine. This is Fraud and misrepresentation of facts. It is a trick to get extra fees from customers/consumers, because each time they make payments with a Negative balance that they think is Positive, they get charged fees like I did.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX 2015 my significant other passed away, he was a secondary card holder on my account as is my niece, I am the primary card holder. On XXXX XXXX 2015, Netspend who has my prepaid card sent me an email stating not to use my card until I call them and when I spoke to a CSR he said risk management closed my account due to a secondary card holder 's death. When I tried to explain that I was the primary, I was told that risk management closed it and it was n't reversible. I made a complaint with the XXXX and Netspend responded with " anytime there is a death with a primary or secondary card holder the account is closed '' per their terms yet I could not find anything about death of card holders except that the XXXX card holder is responsible for the XXXX card holder card use. The CSR told me they could order a new card and account number but they ca n't reopen my account. I asked to speak to risk management and was put on hold, the CSR came back on the line again to tell me that they could open me a new account etc. I tried to explain to him that my payroll checks and my significant others checks still go to that account ( I 'm entitled to payments from his various holdings as his beneficiary ) again I was told they could open a new account for me and because of this my checks from his accounts have been put on hold for verification. After I contacted XXXX and the company contacted them I received a phone call from a XXXX XXXX and he left a message stating he was in the office until XXXX CST I retuned his call at XXXX CST time and he was not in his office, then I emailed him and told him and the XXXX that I would be contacting you, he has not called or emailed since I first emailed and called him.I do n't feel that they should have closed my account and at best they should have contacted me so that I may explain why his name was n't remove from my account, but know they closed it then contacted me

Complaint: I have been a netspend customer for 7 years. I have worked for the same company the entire time and i have my bi-weekly check direct deposited into my account. This week i received a bonus which put my account balance over the maximum on the card. As a result my account was frozen. I immediately called in and they said i needed to provide proof of deposit from my company. Our payroll department immediately provided. Then radio silent. I called back in XXXX hours later to check status. Customer Service informed me that they had all they needed but it take XXXX hours to process. Fine. So after the XXXX hours expired i called back ( XXXX time ). The rep told me that she did n't know why it had n't been unfrozen but assured me they had what they needed. So once again i hung up. then XXXX hours later i called again. I asked to please talk to the documents department and they said they can not call them. But they emailed. Low and behold right after that email went i receive a notice that they still have n't received the documents they need. Now keep in mind no one told me any documents were required beyond proof of deposit even though i asked XXXX people. So i immediately sent the documents. That was at XXXX yesterday. So i called again last night at XXXX to check to see -- what else was needed, what are next steps. Again nothing other than it takes XXXX hours. So this morning i call back ( call number XXXX ) and once again there is no update. Then they transfer me to the fraud department. The fraud guy says he does n't know why i am there and puts me back with customer service. So the new customer service agent asks for all of my informaiton again and then says i need to hang up and call back in. that is when i lost it. Finally i spoke to a supervisor who supposedly sent another email and apparently was going to document that this needed to be escalated. I am now back on the phone ( XXXX call in but XXXX person i have spoken to ) and she said they ca n't address until monday because the people are n't working. BRAND NEW NEWS. So i am on hold once again waiting for supervisor and all of this time my money is locked down. Once again i understand need to do verifications but this is insanity and i honestly feel like i am losing my mind. This whole process has to be illegal. I honestly can not believe that not XXXX person can get a clear status update. What they do n't realize is that this completely messes up people 's lives severely. Sad, tragic and completely has me in tears.

Complaint: Netspend on behalf of XXXX offers a Pre-Paid Savings account that offers a 5 % optional savings account that you get when you open a XXXX Prepaid MasterCard. In XX/XX/2015 I reopened my card and deposited {$2300.00} into my savings account. When I logged onto my XXXX Prepaid App, the savings account showed an interest rate of 0.0 % for the statement quarter, violating the agreement that netspend included in their terms and conditions. I kept the amount for a month hoping it would change, however it still remained listed as 0 %. I then pulled my money out of it on XXXX/XXXX/2015. When I went to close my XXXX Prepaid yesterday, I was told there was no interest to be paid out, again directly violating the legally binding agreement that I made with Netspend when I opened the XXXX Prepaid Account.

Complaint: Netspend deactivated my card when I inadvertently went into overdraft because of an XXXX order that was billed in several different increments. They did not notify me at all that my card was deactivated, so after I made a deposit to put the balance over {$170.00} in the positive, I tried to use it at a gas station and it was declined. I check the ATM at the station and it said I had {$170.00} balance, but when I tried to withdraw money from the ATM it was declined. I tried again and it was declined. I logged onto the website and it said I had that much available, but it also charged me {$.00} for each of the XXXX times I checked my balance. At that time I received XXXX text messages at once from them stating my card had been deactivated and I needed to reactivate it online. I tried to do so, but it indicated that the card was " already activated. '' I called the customer service number and a very rude XXXX man, supposedly named " XXXX '' informed me he could NOT reactivate my card, he would have to send an email to the department who did that. I indicated I was XXXX miles away from home and needed to purchase gas to get home and the deactivated card was the only method I had of doing so. I told him I needed to talk to someone who could rectify the situation NOW and he offered for me to speak to his supervisor. After holding for more than XXXX minutes, my cellphone battery was dying, so I told " XXXX '' to have a supervisor call me on my daughter 's cellphone, and I gave him the number. I told him to also email the department who could fix the problem and I needed to know when it was fixed so I could actually drive home. This was at XXXX and I had XXXX of my children with me. It is now more than 12 hours later and I have not received any phone calls, text messages or emails regarding the status of my card. I called the customer service number again and held for more than 10 minutes without anyone coming to the phone to take my call. I am furious! I want access to MY money, which they are holding because I do n't have any way to get it out other than the card that is " deactivated ''. They send me texts for everything from deposits to withdrawals to advertisements. They could n't send me a text to let me know my card would not work, even though I had just deposited money onto it? This is poor business practice and when I called them it should have been corrected immediately.

Complaint: To whom it may concern ; My name is XXXX XXXX and I am a previous Netspend cardholder. On XXXX/XXXX/2015 I filed a claim for unauthorized charges. I received correspondents in the mail on XXXX/XXXX/2015 informing me that claim # XXXX was found in my favor and {$180.00} would be refunded to my account. Unbeknownst to me, my account was closed on XXXX/XXXX/2015 without reason. I was never informed of anything suspicious on my account nor was I informed that my account was even being closed. On XXXX/XXXX/15 I tried logging into my Netspend account only to receive a message to call customer care because my account was locked. At that time they informed me that my account was closed and the funds were issued to a check and sent out to my address on XXXX/XXXX/15. I have yet to receive anything in the mail and any helpful answers for Netspend Customer Care. I even opted to have the check canceled and the funds put into a relative 's Netspend account. I 've read numerous accounts and complaints about closed account owners never receiving their check as promised. I can not afford to be one of those. If the check was sent out from Texas on XX/XX/XXXX, I should have received it by now. I just need my funds returned please.
