Complaint: Recently received in the past week a personalized card from XXXX XXXX with my name that I did not sign up for or have any affiliation with. I tried contacting the company multiple times and through multiple different numbers and every time, I am prompted to enter my social security number. I am unable to take any action with this unfamiliar card including cancelling and reporting without giving them this information. I am worried that the company has my information and will affect my credit report. Also I was unable to cancel it on their website.

Complaint: Deceptive Practices regarding receiving my direct deposit payroll on my prepaid debit cards My direct deposit 's always post to my accounts every two weeks on a Friday per my alerts from netspend. I have a copy of my job payroll disbursement schedule. My pay was released on XX/XX/XXXX, everyone in my office received their pay on Saturday, XX/XX/XXXX. Netspend is supposed to give consumers immediate access to their money, ppayroll direct deposit 's once it enter into your accounts. NetSpend Corporation promised consumers immediate access to their funds with no holds, no waiting, representations deceptive. Immediate access? Not so fast, alleges the FTC. NetSpends ads were replete with claims like No Waiting! and Use your card immediately. The upshot? People who loaded funds onto NetSpend cards often had to wait and wait and wait to access their own hard-earned money. The FTC says those delays resulted in severe financial hardship to consumers, including evictions, repossessed cars, and late fees on bills. NetSpends business practices were at odds with its marketing claims. cards, failed to live up to that promise. Netspend use XXXX to deposit funds into customers accounts. I 've called Netspend 5 times already, XX/XX/XXXX. I attached my employer payroll disbursement schedule.

Don't want a card provided by your employer or the government
Complaint: I received this card without requesting it and with no explanation attached or printed on the card, that this was an offer. I thought it was a replacement card for an existing pre-paid card I had but when I went to the site, it was asking for my social and date of birth. I found that suspicious, along with the card having a XXXX balance. When I called the company, NetSpend, to ask where this card came from, I was again prompted to enter my date of birth and full social. I declined and was transferred to an agent who then said that this was an offer and if I activated it ( after providing all my info ) I could use the card for paycheck deposits and such. I never requested this card, nor did my employer distribute these cards for paycheck deposits. It is very suspicious to request that information to activate the card without providing a description of what the " offer '' is. NetSpend should be required to fully explain what this card is and why the recipient is in receipt of the card. Appears to be a phishing scheme that NetSpend has gotten away with for years.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX I bought a netSpend card at XXXX for {$2.00} and loaded {$55.00} on it. I wanted to do some online buying. When I tried to register it they wanted copies of my ID, Social Security card, pay check stub, or other government paperwork with my address. Reluctantly I sent them my ID ( invalid-out of date ), my SSC ( accepted ), and a SNAP review ( invalid-over 30 days old ), four months of rent reciepts ( rejected ). Later I sent them my XXXX XXXX ID ( rejected ) and a XXXX letter dated XX/XX/XXXX ( also rejected ). This is all the paperwork that I have. I am an XXXX XXXX XXXX that works part time. I get paid cash, there are no check stubs. It took months to save that money for some holiday spending. They say that this prevents money laundering. That would make sense if it were {$5500.00}, but not {$55.00}. netSpend has hijacked my money. Ther should be regulations as to the amounts that this criteria can apply. On the outer package it says they will need your name and address, your date of birth, and your SSN. It does n't say anything about copies of all this and other stuff. Thats got to be false advertising. I called for a refund today, they said it would take 10 business days.

Complaint: On XX/XX/XXXX, I noted that a charge of {$190.00} was pending out of my Netspend account. The company that was attempting to charge the funds is XXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX . I immediately called Netspend and was told by their representative that because the transaction was pending, they would not file a dispute until the transaction was complete. I told them this was not acceptable as I knew nothing about this company and had not made a purchase, nor was I authorizing any transaction with the company. Netspend told me that because a fraudulent charge had been made, they needed to block card and send me a new card. They told me, by doing this, they would be able to stop any further action on the account. I spoke with a manager and she told me she would be refunding the money to the account, which she did. The following day, the funds were back in the account. However, in blocking the card, and therefore blocking the account, net spend made a transaction by the IRS to remove {$500.00} from the account, impossible. Yet, the fraudulent company, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX XXXX , who made an attempt to draw out funds again on XX/XX/XXXX, was able to do so for {$190.00}, thus making the funds Netspend had reimbursed the account for on the XX/XX/XXXX no longer available. I called Netspend again to try and resolve the issue and I spoke with an agent, and a supervisor, only to be told that NOW I needed to submit the dispute in writing and it would take 10 days from the date Netspend receives it to help qualify me for reimbursement on a fraudulent transaction that I tried to prevent in the first place. In the mean time, I have no access to my money in the Netspend account, as I am still waiting for the new card. I called Netspend again today to close the account and to have access to my funds, only to be told I have to wait for the card to arrive. I tried to file a complaint with Netspend, which they took over the phone, but refused to allow me to speak with their complaint department or their legal department, and refused to even send me a copy of the complaint they are supposedly submitting.

Complaint: Currently, I am using Netspend as payroll debt card for the past couple months. I have been their customer for over one year. However, this is the second time that someone in the company has locked my account and online access due to unknown factors. Personally, I believe that someone has a problem with my job at Netspend in order for them to lock me out of my account. I have my payroll checks going into this card every week and it seems like they are getting mad at that fact. My friends told me that this card was very safe to use but now I am not sure. I just want to know if it is okay for me to use this card or are they going to lock me out of my account for no reason?

Complaint: My XXXX XXXX Netspend prepaid card went into over draft in the amount of - {$53.00} on XX/XX/XXXX. However, onXX/XX/XXXX while working as a FEMA Government contractor, XXXX XXXX/Netspend allowed an unauthorized overdraft in the amount of {$1100.00} to be processed on my PREPAID card even though the funds request was unsupported and funds were unavailable. This unauthorized allowance caused a cumulative negative balance of - {$1100.00}. OnXX/XX/XXXX, I rented a economy vehicle from XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) at a rate of {$180.00} per week ( see attached contract ). XXXX XXXX XXXX solicits their rental services with the option of placing a credit card on their rentals or cash only. I explained to the Manager ( XXXX XXXX ) my employment as a FEMA Contractor required me to be away and I placed a {$750.00} cash deposit down for the rental ( see attached receipts ). The manager ( XXXX XXXX ) asked me to leave a card on file with him and he made a copy of my prepaid card. On XX/XX/XXXX I made an additional cash deposit of {$200.00} and another cash deposit of {$300.00} onXX/XX/XXXX. I returned the vehicle on XX/XX/XXXX and was livid when a saw a charge of {$1100.00} on my Prepaid card from XXXX XXXX XXXX in addition to the XXXX cash deposit. I immediately contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX and when my phone calls were refused I contacted XXXX XXXX Netspend to dispute the transaction. I closed the prepaid account and was told by the XXXX XXXX Netspend representative that a provisional credit would be issued to my account if I sent an email with my dispute documents and the following DISPUTE CLAIM NO. and REFERENCE NO. ( XXXX XXXX. XXXX & XXXX XXXX. XXXX ) to their dispute department within 10 days. I sent the email the same day, however, have yet to see a refund or provisional credit ( see attachment ). On XX/XX/XXXX, I received notification from mail track that the email sent to : XXXXXXXXXXXX HAS NOT BEEN OPENED ( see attachment ) XXXX XXXX legal terms and conditions ( B ) How the Optional Overdraft Protection Service ( the Service ) Works : Specifically page 15 ( see attached ), states ( see XXXX XXXX Terms and Agreement of Service attachment ), you generally do NOT have the right to make transactions or incur fees in the amounts EXCEEDING the available balance of your card account. However, as a non-contractual courtesy, the Service is available on your Card Account if you elect to participate ( opt in ) and you have met each of the activation and eligibility requirements described below. If you opt in, the Primary Cardholder or any Secondary Cardholder may make transactions that exceed the balance of your Card Account and may incur fees on the Card Account, subject to the limitations herein. My card account did not meet the terms and conditions to remain participatory in the over draft protection program or remain active under XXXX XXXX Netspend guidelines, however, XXXX XXXX Netspend violated the terms and agreements of its own legal contract by allowing my account to remain active contrary to the violation of its own policy. ( see below ) XXXX XXXX legal terms and conditions ( A ) Activation and Eligibility, specifically page 16 ( see attached ) : To activate the Service on your Card Account you must take the following steps : After activation of the Service, you must continue to receive XXXX deposits totaling {$200.00} every thirty ( 30 ) days. If you fail to receive XXXX Deposits totaling at least {$200.00} every thirty ( 30 ) days after activation or your account has a negative balance for more than ( 30 ) days your card will be immediately deactivated. Overdraft protection was activated on my accountXX/XX/XXXX. Subsequently,XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX, XXXX and XXXX, my Card Account exhibited ZERO XXXX Deposits and held a negative balance of - {$80.00} for 90 days ( see attached statements coveringXX/XX/XXXX thruXX/XX/XXXX ). In lieu of the obvious cause for deactivation XXXX XXXX Netspend allowed the Card Account to remain active, thereby violating its own contractual agreement which states, IF YOU FAIL TO RECEIVE XXXX DEPOSITS TOTALING AT LEAST {$200.00} EVERY ( 30 ) DAYS AFTER ACTIVATION OR YOUR ACCOUNT HAS A NEGATIVE BALANCE FOR MORE THAN ( 30 ) DAYS YOUR CARD WILL IMMEDIATELY BE DEACTIVATED. XXXX XXXX legal terms and conditions ( A ) Activation and Eligibility, specifically page 16 state : If your Card Account has a negative balance on any one occasion for sixty ( 60 ) days, the Service will be permanently deactivated. Per my attached Card Account statements my Card Account evidenced a negative balance fromXX/XX/XXXX thruXX/XX/XXXX, which exceeded XXXX XXXX Net Spends ( 60 ) day deactivation activation and eligibility requirements by 30 days Furthermore, XXXX XXXX Netspend is aware the Cardholders previous Card statements do not evidence individual transactions of more than {$500.00}. However, XXXX XXXX Netspend remained complicit in the allowance of an uncharacteristic and unauthorized transaction which exceeded characteristic trends by more than 200 % ( percent ) thereby ignoring purchasing trends associated with the account in question, resulting in a failure to adequately maintain the security of the Cardholder. XXXX XXXX Netspends allowance of an unauthorized and uncharacteristic transaction and its failure to abide by its own terms and agreements of service constitute a 'breach ' of the agreement.

Complaint: On XXXX XXXX, at approximately XXXX hours, I was at my local XXXX attempting to buy cleaning supplies. Unfortunately, I learned at that time that my card was declined. I had just been paid XXXX days earlier, so I knew there was some mistake. I 'd been sick and my charges were very localized to XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX Now, my son 's lunch money account, and that pretty much covers the charges in these last few days. When I called NetSpend using the number on the back of my card, and was not given any reason why approximately XXXX had been removed from my card, unaccounted for, and why my account -- which was XXXX years old -- was shut down. Several Netspend customer service reps said that Netspend was not responsible and XXXX -- their cards ' issuing bank -- was responsible. For XXXX to XXXX hours on the phone, we were transferred to customer service reps who lied outright or prevaricated. At XXXX point, XXXX customer service rep purposefully forwarded us to XXXX XXXX which requires a card number to even proceed. Ultimately, the system hung up on us as we were on the line with a XXXX rep who was listening. We also had both reps on the phone and they were caught in various deceptions. We were told that a check with my money -- they talked to both me and my wife -- would be sent in XXXX business days, but according to other consumers, this may be a lie : XXXX XXXX XXXX When we finally received some sort of answer, we were told that his account was locked for fraudulent activity, which is a lie. We spoke to supervisor XXXX, employeed ID # XXXX, and she indicated that XXXX is not responsible but Netspend is. Netspend said the reverse was accurate.

Complaint: XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX customer service representative without my consent blocked my XXXX XXXX XXXX. I called into their customer service inquiring about a purchase on XXXX XXXX, XXXX {$94.00}. The CSR said she is going to block the card. I explained, I only have an inquiry please do not block the card for I have a balance on the card. I explained I need to purchase medicine. The CSR blocked the card anyway and now I have to wait 7 to 10 days for XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX to send another card. The money to purchase medicine was loaded on the card the CSR blocked and now I will have to wait 7 to 10 days to buy medicine. I am a XXXX XXXX XXXX.
