Debt is not yours
Complaint: I recently look at my credit report for all three credit bureaus back in XX/XX/2019 and I noticed one particular debt that was closed and charged off but, in collections for the amount of {$3100.00} with a collection agency by the name of Monterey Collection Service. I had no clue who the original creditor is ( XXXX XXXX XXXX ) nor where this debt even came from. I have never received any letters from the original creditor about this debit nor the collection agency it was obviously sold to. I recently mailed Monterey Collection Service a debt validation letter certified on XX/XX/2019 and they didn't responded back to me until XX/XX/2019. The letter only stated that they had given me 30 days to validate the debt but never provided original documentations from the original creditor what the accurate amount of debt was or any of the documents that I had requested from them by law per the FCRA. I have been disputing this with all three credit bureaus and they keep saying that this company is saying that everything is accurate and the debit is mine. I have not received any proof of documents that this debt belongs to me since I disputed this debt on my credit reports. I have asked that this debt be removed since it could be proven to be my debt and it has not been done by any of the 3 credit bureaus. Also I have notice that since I have been disputing this debt the amount has been increasing and has went from charged off to unpaid but still closed and in collections. This sounds like a complete fraud and I want this invalidated debit removed from all 3 credit reports ( XXXX, XXXX and XXXX ).

Complaint: I have reported this before on this site and it continues to be closed without them answering my questions. Monterey financial has violated the fdcpa! They have given me the wrong amount twice over the phone and the calls are recorded. I have ask for an agreement to be made on settling this account and they refuse to accommodate at all even though they have lied. They are reporting missed payments and threatened me multiple times that if I dont give them money immediately that they will send me to collections. These threat were given to me after I told them that I read the contract myself and I know that I dont owe them XXXX dollars and I actually owed XXXX. They have responded saying they never told me XXXX even though the last time I spoke to them they said that the people gave me the wrong amount by accident. I dont want them to send me the dates I signed a contract or lies that they never told me that, what I want is for someone to contact me about finally ending all of this once and for all

Loan sold or transferred to another company
Complaint: So I bought a scooter from a dealership for XXXX and paid XXXX at time of sale.
that was a down payment and my first payment. this was on the XXXX of XXXX. I received an email that a third party called Monterey Financial has purchased the loan from XXXX XXXX 3 days later. Ok today I called them to get a pay off notice as I wanted to pay the balance within the next two months and I was told that my pay off was XXXX. I almost fell to the ground. I asked if she was joking because that was like over 100 % of what the scooter is even worth. She told me to return the scooter to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX and my Balance would be XXXX. So basically I would be just giving them XXXX for something I don't have. I tried talking to a supervisor and got no where. I called the dealer from where I bought the scooter and told him that Monterey told me to return the scooter and he told me there are no returns. So now I'm waiting for a call back from the dealership and so far no call. I got severly scammed by everyone listed here.

Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, I purchased a puppy from the XXXX XXXX XXXX in XXXX XXXX, FL. I qualified for a loan through their financial services, XXXX XXXX. They sent me a contract that needed to be signed immediately right there in the store. When I received the email I could not enlarge it on my phone. The entire contract was in fine print. On the XXXX website it states that they have easy financing with great rates. on their website site. The salesperson told me someone else wanted to purchase the dog I was under the incorrect assumption that I would be paying average credit card rates for the dog. I received an email from a collection agency I was confused. I opened the email to see that I was Paying more than 100 % financing for the dog and the dog did not belong to me he was a lease. I called the Monterey Financial Services to tell me I that I believe I have been defrauded by them and XXXX XXXX. That had I known the terms I would have put the dog on the credit card. Complaint: I received an email from this company that I could not open. I sent email to medical coordinator at a doctor office. On my first time at the doctors office I signed documents but none of them was this company, XXXX XXXX. Their contract was signed by the coordinator and not me. I never consent, agreed, or even seen any part of their contract until about one year later when Monterey Collections provided me a copy. Their contract was signed st the doctors office on a day I was not there. This means it was signed by the office and not me. I never signed or agree with this company loan.

Problem with personal statement of dispute
Complaint: On XX/XX/2019, 2 XXXX XXXX salesmen came to my door to shampoo 3 rooms, and I let them. Long 3 hours went by, and I knew my credit would not be approved because I was not working, my husband is the only one. So, I said sure, run my credit. Well, a few min later, they said I was approved. I asked the salesman how, and he said they only used my info, but used my husbands earnings. Anyway, later that night, I explained to husband, he said nope, they jipped me. In the meantime, I was supposed to go on my email to sign the financial loan documents. I had 3 days to rescind and give vacuum back. I looked on my email, started doing paperwork, then I quit. I was asked on a form for my drivers license info, I actually never finished the paperwork. I also in the meantime tried to contact the salesman to please come back and get vacuum. I could not get him, his boss. I tried for over a week. Well, after that, one of the reps from XXXX said that Monterey Financial needed my drivers license info, that I needed to call them or the contract was void. I never gave them info, and never actually seen a contract containing my interest or anything. The XXXX salesman had put all my info in the site and set me up for auto pay. Long story short, a couple months passed, I got out the owners manual to learn how to use the attachments. I found a copy of my credit app folded in it. The salesman had wrote in that I got XXXX a month XXXX!! Really!! Its such a ripoff all the way around. Please, please help with this

Threatened to sue you for very old debt
Complaint: I spoke with representatives from Monterey Collections on XX/XX/XXXX who are charging me outrageous interest and fees on a sold account from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ). Rep XXXX and another employee threatened that the account would be referred back to XXXX in order for legal action to be taken against me. I then requested the contact information for that legal department in order to assure that legal action would be filed seeing as it has been a difficult process working with this company and XXXX. I was denied the information of said threat. On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted both original debtor ( XXXX ) and finance company ( XXXX XXXX ) who both stated the status of account was Servicing transferred ( sold ), the original amount {$4600.00} received a payment of {$110.00} as of XXXX XXXX ( last payment ) of which was a result of a loan modification on which XXXX defaulted on, and the maintenance was stopped/forefeited on XX/XX/XXXX. This company is consistently in violation of FDCPA rules/guidelines. They are reporting erroneously on my credit report falsified information and have threatened to take legal action of which speaking with rep XXXX from XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX there is no such legal dept that Monterey Collections is able to continue threatening me with.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: In XX/XX/XXXX I signed a contract for a loan for XXXX. I knew the interest was high but I planned on buying it out after three months. When I called to buy out the loan I was told it was over 2000. That was because the representative gave me the amount I owed if I paid month to month. Ex if I paid XXXX per month for 20 months I would have paid XXXX. I read my contract and called again because it was only supposed to be XXXX. When I called and asked again they said that it was still 2000 and my early buyout in my contract was an estimate. I have refused payment since XX/XX/XXXX and I contacted them after I realized that they broke the fdcpa. They now want me to pay XXXX for late fees and past payments when my account would have already been closed if they followed contract. They have been sued before for violating the fdcpa and get complaints on the daily. This could have been a good experience if they didnt lie to try and con me and tried to come up with a resolution since they cant agree to mine

Complaint: In XXXX XXXX offerred to let me finance my new insulin pump purchase handled by Monterrey Financial. When looking at the Monterrey Financials ' website today, I did a quick check to make sure that the organization was charging me the correct amount. In order to obtain this information, I logged into the company 's website. The website shows my name and account number, and then has an option to look at the payment history.
In the screenshot attached, Monterrey shows that as of XX/XX/19 I owed the company {$980.00}. It also details all of the account transactions since that date. Since then, I have made XXXX dollars in principal payments which is XXXX above the account balance. Today I called to inquire about this issue. When I spoke to their customer service, they told me that I still in fact owed an additional {$110.00}.
As a consumer with a background in monitoring financial transactions, I fail to understand how Monterrey can be allowed to charge me more than the amount explicitly shown on their website.

Account status incorrect
Complaint: I received a notice from XXXX XXXX about a past due account on my credit from Monterey Financial Services. I have never heard of them before. I called on Thursday, XX/XX/XXXX. They advised they were a financial company that took over a current loan I have that was previously under XXXX. I explained my situation that I had received notification from XXXX XXXX that I had a past due account with them. Monterey then states that my account is pending collections for non payment. I advised that I would be more than happy to pay off my past due balance and fees, but the mark on my credit needs to be removed since I was not properly notified. I advised Monterey that back in XXXX, I had switched banks and updated all my information with XXXX. Since my loan is on autopay, no further action should have been needed. I asked Monterey to confirm my contact information, since they said they have made several attempts to contact me. ( I also asked for any proof of them contacting me, such as the letters or call logs. They refused to give me any information. ) Turns out, both my email and mailing address were incorrect. I also told them I had not received any voicemails from them either. I asked Monterey to remove the late payments from my account since I had no knowledge of the company switching to a different financial service. Monterey then told me it is my responsibility to contact them. I asked how I am supposed to contact a company that I didn't even know existed? I spoke to a supervisor who said they would not re-report to the credit bureaus. Monterey said the only way they would re-report is if I paid off my entire balance. I told them I do not have money to pay off my entire balance, but it is not my fault that I was not properly notified of the change to my account. I am asking that my late payments from Monterey Financial Services be removed.

Attempted to collect wrong amount
Complaint: In XXXX I had went to a pet store to purchase a puppy. The puppy was more expensive than I thought but they said I could apply for a loan. I did and was approved for XXXX dollars. I signed the contract knowing the fees and everything no worries because I was going to do an early buyout in four months. I made my monthly payments but it was always a struggle. I was charged late fees when I was on automatic payments and my bank said they never tried to charge me, I had a random charge from them and they couldnt tell me what for, etc. in XXXX or XXXX I asked for the amount of my early buyout and was told it was over 2000 when I got an email saying it was going to be XXXX when I signed my contract. The company Monterey financial handles all the finance of my contract even though I signed with XXXX XXXX XXXX. When I heard that I got off the phone and contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX and they told me Monterey financial was in charge of the financial part of my contract. Since then I have stopped making payments and have been doing research of my own on this company and they do this all the time. When I contacted them to do my early buyout again they let me know that I was only supposed to pay XXXX in XXXX that they gave me the wrong amount twice on accident but since I havent made any payments that I now owe XXXX. I told them that it wasnt an accident when they told me on two different day, by two different representatives and that I would give them the amount I owed in XXXX but I will not give them amount now since they lied to me with the intention to scam a XXXX year old out of a extra XXXX. They threatened me with reporting me to collection and reporting me to the credit unions. They refuse to work with me or answer any questions through email because they dont want me to have any proof. When I called they immediately said we need XXXX now when I asked what it was for they couldnt answer, when I asked why I was given a false amount they couldnt answer.
